Rap remake of a Kurosawa film sounds like something that can maybe be good if someone really talented makes it, but current Spike Lee is a hack and it's easy to fumble the concept, I have no trust. He was also rejected by Cannes on his application for the Main Competition which also is not a good sign. Sinners is a better "black centered movie" than anything Lee has been doing since he suddenly started making nothing shit around the late 00s.

I went not having seen any trailers nor read any reviews, only knowing it had received great ones and that it was supposed to be a thriller.
My first thoughts were that damn is this gonna be really scary? then it hit with the jumpscare flashes etc and it got my hopes up. Afterwards i enjoyed the buildup, waiting for the payoff that just didnt happen. It just turned into zombieslop.
I expected more and i'm surprised by how most people are glazing it and proclaiming it as a 10/10; i'd personally give it an 8

There was an almost "grindhouse" aspect to part of the movie during the middle with the vampires that I wasn't expecting or hinted at by the trailer. Still very good, and I kind of like the fact that vampires didn't heal immediately like most vampires are portrayed as.
