You can't really take the time to teach your kids advanced English when you need to spend 80% of your day toiling in the field. Who the hell can run a school when subsistence farming is the dominant industry? The world we live in took several millennia to achieve. The institutions we take for granted, like schools, are centuries in the making as well, and they started because we already had a system that could support such things. Farming, for example, is extremely difficult, but automation has made it significantly easier compared to 2000 years ago. The average person has no idea how to farm; just look at the CHAZ community garden to see how easy most people think farming is. That's just farming too. The average person doesn't know how to make batteries, and even if they did, they would still need to find the materials to produce them. The picture is just for a battery; imagine how much goes into things like a cargo plane or a laptop.
