Is it actually worth watching?
Is it actually worth watching?
Yeah if you like found footage horror. And if the animal cruelty isn't an instant "nope" from you. Cool soundtrack too.
If you don't mind the horrible acting.
How was this even legal? It's too horrific.
Just to check it off the list, its really gruesome in some scenes, aside from the pure shock of the violence, theres not much else to it, the rest of the film is a bit slow and not very engaging, the ending is not really earned either, honestly.
Id suggest not to watch if youre gonna be with people afterwards, or eat before watching, its not really a party movie either, best watched alone.
Its by far the most recognized of the 80s italian cannibal genre, if theres one to watch, this one is it
It wasnt lol
80s italian cannibal genre
didn't even know this was a thing
The best film in this microgenre. Watch the original Italian cut. It's been uploaded to YouTube and X.
en.wikipedia.org
it was all very raunchy and low-budget, C-tier films tops but very controversial for the times, i think Green Inferno is a good revival of the genre
It's fucked up but it isn't as fucked up as people make it out to be. The animal killings are by far the worst parts but you can FF past them if you're truly bothered. It has a lot more soul than most gore movies. You should watch it at least once if you have any interest in exploitation, horror, or Italian movies. The soundtrack is phenomenal and is way too good to be in an Italian exploitation gore movie. Watch the opening credit scene on youtube where the main theme plays over aerial shots of the Amazon. It's magical.
This, wasn't a huge fan but its honestly more artsy and dare I say "in better taste" than most films with this level of violence.
This.
If there's anything worth experiencing about this film, it's the Riz Ortolani score.
Fucking beautiful.
The best film in this microgenre
maybe if you are a Anon Babble user or mark dice
Yeah, it's a great movie (if you like Italian horror.)
how was it legal to film a horror movie?
It usually is.
but they killed and ate wild animals in the jungle
Not a crime at all, that's what people in the jungle do. That's the point of it being in the movie, actually.
For its place in Horror history, yes. On its own? Not really.
It's not worth stomaching the animal cruelty, imo. Same way "Food For the Gods" is worthless -- any semblance of an interesting movie goes out the door when they fired metal bbs at the rats. Pointless pain inflicted when we have techniques specifically designed for film to avoid that stupid shit.
I stomached some animal cruelty for dinner earlier.
Did you slice the animal in half with a machete?
Or did you just ordered it?
Some guys kept it locked up its whole life in filthy conditions and then they dragged it away and shot it in the head and chopped its corpse up. C'est la vie.
maybe if you are a Anon Babble user
Where do you think we are?
No animal is sliced in half with a machete in CH. I'm not defending the animal cruelty in the movie but there isn't any reason to lie about it to make it sound worse. The animal violence is disturbing enough without exaggerating it.
the racist shithole known as Anon Babble but still
the only people who are pissed off at the zanzibar genocide are arabs and nobody else
watching white supremacists being pissed off for what happened to arabs is really bizarre
Look, eating the fucking things are fine. I love a good burger. Livestock have a purpose and we use every bit of them.
Why waste time hurting another creature for cinema? Aren't you supposed to be able to fake it? It's a lazy shortcut and spiritual poison.
The animal killings are by far the worst parts
wtf is wrong with you?
Look, eating the fucking things are fine
All the animals killed in Cannibal Holocaust were eaten, mostly by the tribe that they worked with on the film.
Aren't you supposed to be able to fake it?
Cannibal Holocaust did not have the budget for that lol.
The point of the movie is you're seeing what goes on in the jungle every day but that you're sheltered from. CH is giving you a real glimpse of the Amazon, they are machete-ing and eating animals all the time just like you saw the cast in the movie do.
What is the animal violence in the movie again? I haven't seen it in like a decade so I'm going from memory here
little wild pigs are shot
monkey head is bisected horizontally
river turtle has its shell ripped off and guts exposed
The monkey and the turtle scenes are gross and hard to defend.
Multiple cast and crew members were uncomfortable with the film's graphic content, in particular the genuine killing of animals. Yorke described the shoot as having "a level of cruelty unknown to me" and was initially unsure if he was taking part in a snuff film. When his character was scripted to kill a pig on camera, Yorke refused, leaving the duty to Luca Barbareschi. Yorke had traveled with the pig to the set and felt he had formed a relationship with the animal. When it was shot, the emotional impact of hearing the pig squeal subsequently caused Yorke to botch a long monologue, and retakes were not an option because the production did not have access to additional pigs.[14] Kerman similarly objected to the killing of the coati and stormed off the set while its death scene was filmed; he had repeatedly pressed Deodato to let the animal go in the minutes leading up to filming.[15] Pirkkanen cried after filming the butchering of a turtle,[2] and crew members vomited off camera when a squirrel monkey was killed for the film.[14]
and the turtle scenes
They behead the turtle to kill it and then cut it up and eat it, I don't see what is so problematic about this. Do people want them to bring it to the vet and put it to sleep instead? They chopped its head off, it's not like it died in agony. Factory farmed animals are treated worse than that turtle ever was.
Do you want an accolade for being sociopathic? How do you not understand "why" it's wrong and why the actors on srt didn't like it? Was your upbringing alright, son?
Fuck off kike
Do you want an accolade for being sociopathic?
I'm sociopathic for not caring that some people hunted and ate a turtle in the Amazon rainforest? I've seen hunting videos on youtube with the same kind of shit.
and why the actors on srt didn't like it?
Most people wouldn't watch to watch cows being killed in a slaughterhouse.
You're being upset that some animals in the rainforest got hunted and eaten decades ago but you don't care that billions of animals are suffering in actual Holocaust-tier conditions at this very moment. You most likely funded this when you bought lunch today. But oh no some Italians ate a turtle once.
i dont like israel at all
but slavery in zanzibar was brutal
the zanzibar revolution in 1964 was completely justified just like the 1804 haitian massacre
you reap what you sow
pol pol pol
get the fuck out retard the documentary is great
Yes. It's a decent horror film. God knows how they got that musical score though. Belongs in an actual 10/10 kino.
racism
white supremacists
i don't get why faggots like you come here.
Off the top of my head
Main guys shotgunning pigs
Thirdies killing a monkey and a turtle
Meat production really isn't that bad. You have swallowed too much propaganda.
Meat production really isn't that bad
Hunting and eating wild animals really isn't that bad.
It will be so delicious when your idiot leaders Sampson Option your family to fulfill their prophecies
You're one of these third worldists who just likes seeing unmelanated people die
This is the Anarchist's Cookbook of movies. An edgy "banned" piece of media that's incredibly shit but stays afloat in the zeitgeist entirely on its shock value and cultural currency with 14 year olds.
You're real low IQ huh. No matter what the guy says you're determined he's Israeli. No he's obviously brown. Joofers are so tiresome and dumb, in general.
Africa Blood and Guts (1966) is probably the worst I've seen when it's comes to animal killings. I watched it on 5x speed just to get through it
Hunting and eating wild animals isn't bad at all. The controversy is whether filming the slaughter of living animals for an exploitation cannibal gore movie is bad or not.
the documentary is great
the directors were known for staging or reenacting scenes so the documentary is not very objective towards colonialism
le durrr durrr durrr durr
What does that actually change about any of it? Can you point to something concrete?
Oh they reshot that scene? I guess Africa isn't a violent hellhole!
Incredible high def documentary footage of some of the wildest shit happening in the 20th century
all you got out of it was people I disagree with like it therefore it's bad
Perhaps you need to log off for a while
If they ate the animals then I don't see what the real issue with recording it was. There were probably animals killed for human consumption while I was typing this out, people eating some jungle animals 45 years ago isn't something for me to get upset about even if footage of it is in a movie trying to make a point about human consumption.
What does that actually change about any of it? Can you point to something concrete?
The uncle viewed the documentary with scepticism, quickly asserting that the images did not cor-respond to anything he had seen or heard about; moreover, he asserted, the scenes fea-tured in the film were unquestionably staged. For instance, the white Muslim clothes of the captives walking to their deaths were too clean and white; in actuality they would have been stained with blood or dirt. Moreover, too many people in the film were portrayed as wearing Muslim dress but in Zanzibar in 1964 such garments typically were only worn on Fridays or on special occasions. And all the victims still wore their Muslim caps on their heads, while most people would have lost them in the jostling and scramble unleashed by the revolutionary uprising. To Salim, the questions raised by a witness to these events did not simply amount to a cross-checking of words and images, but also enabled him to look for further evidence and clues that could help him decide how much credit to give to Africa Addio – testing the authenticity and authority of the document as an archive on which to found his historical quest.
the stupid move tries to defend european colonialism
the stupid documentary has this quote
Europe has abandoned her baby, just when it needs her the most
FUCK YOU and i dont care in the slightest about the zanzibar revolution
I always try to find the italian version but never have success
I like boobies! :D
this movie is way better.
It's just edgy, not even slightly good
The uncle referred to in a quote you copy pasted was a soldier in the army that perpetrated the genocide. I can see why you didn't cite your source, faggot.
FUCK YOU and i dont care in the slightest about the zanzibar revolution
Please just log off bro you're hysterical you're acting like a woman.
I'm sorry you're so stupid, child. Enjoy prison.
the stupid move tries to defend european colonialism
So supposing everything in the movie was true, would it be right? Would you agree with its position on colonialism?
Enjoy prison
Schizo moment
This is why your life is already over. Wait for the knock, child.
that perpetrated the genocide.
you reap what you sow
these arabs were playing wth fire
the scene is too bloodless for my liking but thats irrelevant
that revolution was justified just like nat turner's rebellion
Seek help.
Please just log off bro you're hysterical you're acting like a woman.
besides the zanzibar genocide
what valuable footage is present in this documentary?
It is you who will need to seek help, child. From your lawyers. This is why your life ends in a cage.
Enjoy prison.
Is this some kind of shitpost or are you having a crisis? How did a movie discussion turn into this? Unironically are you ok?
of course not
the documentary ignores stuff like leopold II of belgium
There is no crisis here other than the hot water you've landed in, child. Run along in vain now, little one. You can't escape from my attorney. Now, you pay the price.
Will you guys shut up? There is nothing less interesting than two retards in a slapfight
That's irrelevant
It showed a civilized, pleasant world, and a violent, barbaric one
Which would you choose?
Journalists being killed. Aerial footage of a monastery massacre. Footage of the last Portuguese in Africa. Several combat sequences from civil wars. Footage of a mercenary base of operations. Archival footage of hunting and South Africa. Et cetera.
What do you even mean? It's a documentary of a period of upheaval so dangerous that very little footage actually exists of it. Of course it has value, and it would even if it was widely documented already. And it's beautifully shot and presented. You are just obsessed with arguing.
it didn't happen
well if it did happen they deserved it
Please just shut up already faggot
fuck you
south africa apartheid was shown as a utopia
you are an asshole just like the directors
What do you think of the classic documentary, Blood of the Beasts?
south africa apartheid was shown as a utopia
Yes, I said, what if they were correct, would you agree with them.
Would you prefer utopia, racist South Africa, or modern shithole South Africa?
savages act like the savages they've been for thousands of years
somehow this is Leopold II's fault
Apartheid SA was much better than the country it is now. The infrastructure was maintained and a form of societal order was kept.
Why do third world faggots come into a thread about one of the most notorious exploitation films of all time to argue about nonsense?
south africa apartheid was shown as a utopia
Can you refute this thesis?
And it's beautifully shot and presented.
yeah by saying africans are savages and europeans are not savages
Well they get eaten by cannibals that's sort of refuting
the apartheid was a utopia FOR WHITE PEOPLE
hitler lost and apartheid is no more
deal with it
the apartheid was a utopia FOR PEOPLE
ftfy my good sir updoots to the left
the apartheid was a utopia FOR WHITE PEOPLE
How is day to day life in current south africa for blacks compared to under apartheid? Better?
Be shit to blacks so much they go feral, get eaten by swarms of blacks
Somehow this is a functional solution for whites
the apartheid was a utopia FOR WHITE PEOPLE
Now everything's equally shitty for everyone there and getting worse. Great solution.
apartheid will never ever come back
you should accept that once and for all
functional
How is that a functional solution? Do you know what functional means or do you just randomly insert current year words to sound smart?
Why do third world faggots come into a thread about one of the most notorious exploitation films of all time to argue about nonsense?
It's only going to get worse as Starlink coverage spreads across the third world.
Eternal September is going to look like a blip compared to the torrents of illiterate tribals coming online for the first time.
That's not what any of them said. Case in point, an illiterate tribal.
kill yourself, nigger
That's not what any of them said. Case in point, an illiterate tribal.
cry me a river
I dont take apartheid apologists seriously
keep crying
you are scum
Wasted get
you're not eating a bullet, faggot, get on that
that's an order
But what are your thoughts on the Italian film Cannibal Holocaust?
Am just daying they seemed to live fine caged in their white ghetos and blacks seemed to hate them, is no way to deal with anyone
the rape scene with the native girl was uncalled for
the criticism towards giacopetti and prosperi was pretty good
