Crazy new 20-camera iPhone rig used on the 28 YEARS LATER film set.
Crazy new 20-camera iPhone rig used on the 28 YEARS LATER film set
why are "creatives" such retards?
his made Anon Babble piss and shit themselves even tho the important part of the original film is that it was shot on a cheap digital camera, and the modern equivalent of that is shooting on a phone
that looks stupid as hell
28 phones later
Is this bottom shot being done with a phone too? Or is it some thin Blackmagic camera or something?
iphone with 30k lens
gimmick slop
Ok but what's the point? It doesn't' look any cheaper than a normal camera setup.
imagine having an array of them shake vertically too. you could do some crazy shit. a lot of effort though
well it's pretty clear what type of scene that first one is going to be
protagonists being chased
instead of a gopro/1 iphone attached to the guys head facing him it'll be multiple shots of his face cutting around
thank you danny 'i'm filmmaking" boyle
lol shitdroid users
Android is a superior phone.
In what sense?
newest iPhones shoot in uncompressed 4k. it’s actually a fairly cheap method for “modern” digital filmography. all those phones may legitimately be cheaper than either renting or buying a RED camera
I wonder if apple sponsors stuff like this in one way or another
When someone films a movie with iphones they just can't shut the fuck up about this fact
Shit like this is how directors and producers use budgets to launder money. Just use all these brand new iphones for one shot then rebox them and sell them on ebay and keep the money. Easy money and it's all profit.
20 cameras
28 years
how do you fuck up this badly
this movie is just an ebay reselling scheme
Lmao it all makes sense
28 shits later
I think it's more about zoomer filmmakers being too stupid to use a proper film equipment so they film with iphones.
Why everybody ignoring about no 28 Months Later? Why did it get skipped just like that
Let me repost it for the 21st time, after 20 times across a single fucking day
Are you working in the marketing of that movie?
Because if not, you are doing a 7-11 job for free.
The lenses and rigs are doing the "professional" work, at this point the phone is literally just a viewfinder that can send the footage when you're done shooting. Also has the benefit of recording shitty audio for syncing to the actual pro audio recordings. It cuts out a job where a guy used to sit around with a truck filled with reels of film, or in today's world, a guy with a man purse filled with a bunch of sd cards; whose job is to take the SD cards and upload them. An actual job called a DIT which stands for Data In Transit. The phone replaced that guy.
I've got a better one:
28 years later
They plan to release it before 2031
The phone replaced that guy.
The guy it's still there.
He just no longer has to run all around the set like a maniac
Correction: now that guy has to sync 28 phones
Wouldn't it make sense to have a wheel on that stupid contraption?
so they're adding matrix bullet time effects in the movie?
there was a zombie guild strike
underrated
How is it recorded if it's not on sd cards?
Danny Boyle is a zoomer?
NTA but it would record directly onto the phone's memory and then in between shots/days you could just sync the phone's memory to a laptop via airdrop and then have the laptop back it up on to an external hard drive allowing you to wipe the phone's memory and keep shooting.
If you’re shooting highres 4k on an iPhone, it only saves to an exterior ssd.
a whole thread discussing videography and no one actually understands videography. it’s like listening to a markassbrownlee video
I think it's a safe prediction that this is gonna suck ass, hard.
he said it was because it's a "modern" call back to how they filmed the first one
back then if this were to actually happen, you'd find abandoned camcorders with the footage and now it would be smartphones
this anon doesn't know what he's talking about and is pretending.
this tbqh it's like the video thread in Anon Babble but worse lmfao
You don't think. You have no brain to do so.
matrix shot with iphones
sure, i guess
Kek
man who filmed first one with a shitty mini dv camcorder is now using iphones to film the latest
i'm going insaaaaaane
Why is it retarded? This probably costs less money than using traditional camera's.
Having to keep Charging the phones constantly will cost more than out right buying an imax rig
Could have achieved the same effect with a few GPT prompts.
If it were about cost they'd use Androids
You
iPhones shoot in highres 4k with the new sony sensors. The metadata these sensors pull is substantial for colour grading.
This.
This is just boomer slop nostalgia bait
You can buy a RED Epic body for like 5 grand, drop another 5 grand on a lens and you're nearly halfway to the cost of 20 of those iPhones
If you’re shooting highres 4k on an iPhone, it only saves to an exterior ssd.
Wrong. Any iPhone Pro 13 or higher with at least 256gb of internal storage can record 4K ProRes directly to the phone's memory provided there's at least 10% of the phone's memory free.
128gb models were limited to 1080p in ProRes directly to the phone before for the 15 and 16.
This is true but we don’t know if production bought these at retail or at wholesale straight from apple. RED camera costs are usually listed for independent production while major studios rent out
Those aren't phones, though...
I think they put cameras on phone mounts. It's a bad title.
They are phones, they're just in cases with lenses attached
In that it's a device you can use, instead of it using you.
Is there a legitimate reason to do this? Marketing? I thought the "shot on iPhone" was kind of an old trend.
I don't see how that is possible. without fast charge which you wouldn't need it's like 5w. 20 phones it's 100w. 10 hour shooting day would be only 1kwh, which costs maybe 5 cents or whatever
Having to keep Charging the phones constantly will cost nothing
There, I fixed your typo.
well you can shoot the whole thing from a range of angles and then compile them to swoop around without needing a dolly
Ok, but there is a trade off. I don't know a lot of technical info about cameras, but I know an iPhones can't produce the same fidelity as a real cinema camera. For instance, what's up with the second photo? I can't imagine any reason an iPhone should be used over a real camera.
the only flaw in an iPhone and any smartphone is the size of the sensor. bigger sensor, more light data, less lens crop which affects like dof and focal length. otherwise the amount of the engineering to make the iPhone’s pinkynail sized sensor to even compete among another cameras, like subpixel light scattering or hardware rendered frame generation, can outweigh the negatives of a small sensor
it's only 20 phones
20k+ on iphone meme rig is cheaper than renting a professional camera?
otherwise the amount of the engineering to make the iPhone’s pinkynail sized sensor to even compete among another cameras, like subpixel light scattering or hardware rendered frame generation, can outweigh the negatives of a small sensor
I don't buy it. I'm sure they've done an amazing job, but it just isn't as good. Maybe in limited scenarios. IMAX cameras wouldn't have to exist if IPhones could do it, so they can't. It's as simple as that.
another anon pointed out RED cameras have gotten cheaper and start at 6000. however for a studio film, you’d likely use the system starting at 300000. however studios tend to rent these out regardless. we don’t know the arrangement production had with Apple but it is hiiiighly likely these iPhones are on loan or rented or sold wholesale
what’s there to buy? you’re literally in a thread discussing how a film is being filmed on an iphone. your purchase of reality need not apply
100% free phones provided by Apple to further their "shot on iphone" campaign.
And it won't look as good, that's what I'm saying. And opinions need not apply, that's fact.
why does a camera cost 300000? seems like a scam
Nah, cameras are really precise technology. Lenses are super expensive.
danny boyle
more like danny GOYle
1kwh, which costs maybe 5 cents
where the fuck do you live
why are lenses so expensive tho?
Trump's tariffs.
I mean, think about it. You have to melt glass and form it in extremely precise parabolas, with multiple layers, and there cannot even be microscopic imperfections.
whats a parabola?
Thing at the back of your throat.
I dont think when boyle chose to use a smartphone to make a dirty zombie movie he thought “oh I hope this looks as good as a nolan 70mm imax movie”
regardless, in the realm of cameras, I digress, but people often forget these smartphones camera are sitting in front of a fairly high end and powerful SoC, or processors. which is actually a strange new step in photography, and videography, to stop and think about how the camera’s computer is going to decide how your shot looks. apple does the weirdest shit with frame generation and hdr in video. as of now this [CURRENT YEAR], apple actually is the best at this, in a smartphone. android users have better battery life and can play fortnite and use comic sans but for whatever reason apple decided to try and make iphones into semi-pro camcorders
no its not
Like an umbrella but for the sun
eh
did you miss the fact that all phones are plugged in?
Like bags of sand
its not funny. stupid trollers
very tight tolerances since you would see imperfections right away.
funfact: chromatic aberration, an absolutely stupid graphic option in video games, happens naturally at the edges of lenses. the different wavelengths of the colors get refracted differently. and i really can not understand why games would add this atrocity as an option.
bro thinks he's pre-patch Balteus
in english doc
Plug into trees in the forest right? They have to use generators to power those beasts. I heard they had several diesel tankers turning up round the clock to keep the generators powered to be able to keep the phones running and lets not forget the overheating.
two trolls is a paratrolla
would a 35mm or imax camera… not use power?
Both use power sources made for video. A phone battery isnt made for shooting movies. A phone battery if being taxed doesnt last long at all.
this is pretty funny considering the literal motor inside an imax camera
IPhone slop.
For me it's Arri
for me it's Bolex
Yeah imax uses insane power, is insane cost to rent and the noise the camera makes is insanely loud. Im being a retard anon stop fucking replying to me im retarded ok
If he was a real director he would shoot using a4 pages and biro using flick book max.
Apple marketing stunt and anyone saying otherwise is an ijeet.
it's fucking pathetic how little you people know about cameras and production and you're on the film board. like goddamn read a book sometime and don't just mindlessly consume everything
Because it's basically black magic. If every Zeiss employee died tomorrow, there would be a global calamity in the tech industry. I am not joking about that either. They are instrumental in the process of keeping the entire globe functioning as it does.
28 pages later
I love chromatic aberrations stop badmouthing it.
Nobody on the hobby boards know anything about their hobby of choice aside from mindless consumption. Anyone who has knowledge (or pretends to) uses it to craft bait. Anon Babble is a board that fully embodies this.
I don't support Apple so I shan't be watching.
What books would you recommend anons? Ill actually read them.
refreshes Anon Babble for 20 hours a day
I'd be pissed off too.
Pay this epic premium VIP some fucking respect OP goddamn
