Frankenstein Trailer

they didnt show the monster

not tied to universals epic universe monsters

some nice shots

its a solid meh for me

How faithful of an adaptation will it be? Will it include the part where he makes the monster and then immediately goes to sleep for several days and doesn't even check it for weeks?

lists 3 positives

meh!!!!

Two (2) Frankenstein movies this year

Lmao why?

What was the other one?

Only one. The Bride has such horrible audience screaming they pushed it out a year so not to compete with this one

He's beastly now?

isn't frankenstein supposed to be white

Del Toro will never top Pan’s Labyrinth

Del Toro is washed. When was the last time he made something good? When was the last time he actually made something?

no he's green

I’m actually kind of excited. Doesn’t look nearly as awful as I expected it to look. But it’s still Del Taco so it probably will be

He became a meme of himself kind of like Tarantino. Tarantino is the revenge movie guy now. Del Toro is the gothic horror guy.

Something about the fake plastic set pieces and the bad cgi that makes modern movies look so terrible. Ill pass, thank you.

Theatrical release? Please?
I don't want to watch a Del Toro film on fucking netflix

The Pinocchio movie he did was pretty good, I'll probably watch

Yes. Victor Frankenstein is a French Swiss but Del Taco made him a Guatemalan

Um, Frankenstien, obviouslly.

AKCHUALLY

It will have a limited theatrical release in November before it hits Netflix. People demanded one for same reason not wanting to see it on Wokeflix

This. Some of the shots look great, but the laboratory shots look like they came right out of an early 2000's straight to dvd movie.

Isaac and Elordi are dogshit actors. And Del Toro hasn't made a watchable film since Hellboy 2.

This will suck.

Netflix

Not even going to bother watching the trailer.

Some of the shots look great

I didnt say that.

It has an opulence that's not clichéd if CG bulked up. Seems aimed at CBM crowd but OK we love an old yarn done differently

I'm genuinely a little peeved that he didn't seem to want to make another Cabinet of Curiosity's installment, you'd think the fat fuck would enjoy a horror host-y role

he is white in america

Retard, he's agreeing with you

horrible audience screaming

Hi everybody!

Hi Dr. Frankenstein!

dr nick.jpg - 1024x768, 65.56K

Christoph Waltz as Dr Pretorius peaked my interest

IMG_5464.jpg - 431x540, 46.53K

Netflix slop.
I'll stick with the Universal/Hammer or the 90s version.
Karloff is king.

after the movie where the woman fucks the fishman i don;t have much faith in del toro
expecting some lazy anti-catholic subversion thats about it

looking a little swarthy isnt he

fun fact in the new universal theme park ride Dr Victoria Frankenstein digs up her grandfather's corpse and makes it into a new Frankenstein monster, thereby creating a Frankenstein monster that is just called Frankenstein.

Is it time?

fairies.jpg - 600x500, 88.54K

>they didnt show the monster

Let's fucking go

they only EVER use Elordi because he is faggot bait

He’s me

IMG_5468.jpg - 968x734, 74.89K

I LOVE CGI SLOP

I LOVE CGI SLOP

yes cgi is great. if i wanted realism i can look outside

Be cool if Tel Taco kept the bolts in The Monsters neck

MID!

"How can I shoehorn muh fascism into this" - Del Taco Grande

Meh, looks watchable

looks like any random spanish or italian guy

Love Mia Goth me

I like using the boat framing device straight from the book but yeah looks meh, could just be for the trailer but it looks pointlessly bombastic for Frankenstein.

Op-opah Frankenstein
THIS SUMMER
THE AUDIENCE
IS GOING TO LEARN
THAT FRANKENSTEIN IS THE DOCTOR'S NAME NOT THE MONSTER'S
Op-opah Frankenstein

sigh

somehow Frankenstein has returned

Electricity

eh. prefer the book where its implied that the monster is created through some kind of alchemy or ancient science forbidden for human consumption.

"Give this man his Mountains of Madness money already. With all the scenes in the ice wastes in this movie you know Guillermo is still itching to make it."

NO NO NO! Has anyone read the treatment for his ATMOM adaption? He would have had Tom Cruise shooting shoggoths in the face whilst Sam Neill from Event Horizon explains the Old Ones to you like he would to a baby. Oh yeah and shoggoths dissolve in sea water.

man plays God

I guarantee this will be subversive anti-Christian shlock.

audiences have been conditioned by the original movie to think of electricity, seeing Frankenstein inject a corpse with yellow goo would be too much to them

that white coffin is so gorgeous i want to die in my sleep and be buried in it

that was cause he had tom cruise and james cameron on board, so it needed action set pieces. and it was a gorillion years ago. his sensibility has changed, he'd actually try and keep it restrained but would still need lots of money to build the many sets

Everywhere I see bliss, from which I alone am irrevocably excluded.

>I am alone and miserable. Only someone as ugly as I am could love me

>Increase of knowledge only discovered to me more clearly what a wretched outcast I was. I cherished hope, it is true, but it vanished when I beheld my person reflected in water or my shadow in the moonshine, even as that frail image and that inconstant shade.

>I am malicious because I am miserable

>I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other

>Shall each man," cried he, "find a wife for his bosom, and each beast have his mate, and I be alone? I had feelings of affection, and they were requited by detestation and scorn. Man! You may hate, but beware! Your hours will pass in dread and misery, and soon the bolt will fall which must ravish from you your happiness forever. Are you to be happy while I grovel in the intensity of my wretchedness? You can blast my other passions, but revenge remains—revenge, henceforth dearer than light or food! I may die, but first you, my tyrant and tormentor, shall curse the sun that gazes on your misery. Beware, for I am fearless and therefore powerful. I will watch with the wiliness of a snake, that I may sting with its venom. Man, you shall repent of the injuries you inflict.

he is little me

>man plays God

it backfires

Theres nothing more christian although Mary Shelley wouldnt have seen it that way.

Post your favorite quote from the book

"When I reflect, my dear cousin," said she, "on the miserable death of Justine Moritz, I no longer see the world and its works as they before appeared to me. Before, I looked upon the accounts of vice and injustice that I read in books or heard from others as tales of ancient days or imaginary evils; at least they were remote and more familiar to reason than to the imagination; but now misery has come home, and men appear to me as monsters thirsting for each other's blood.

Netflix actually bought this instead of an actual movie distributor

yeah this looks like a bad movie

I generally rested during the day and travelled only when I was secured by night from the view of man. One morning, however, finding that my path lay through a deep wood, I ventured to continue my journey after the sun had risen; the day, which was one of the first of spring, cheered even me by the loveliness of its sunshine and the balminess of the air. I felt emotions of gentleness and pleasure, that had long appeared dead, revive within me. Half surprised by the novelty of these sensations, I allowed myself to be borne away by them, and forgetting my solitude and deformity, dared to be happy.

Trailer looks all right.

I don't remember Frankenstein's monster fighting with the ship's crew.

Might be the green screen or cg effects.

Electricity was heavily used in the book from Victor being inspired by a lighting bolt hitting a tree to the “spark of life” like Galvani electrifying the frog.

I've never cared for Del Taco's horror. There's always this weird sentimentality to his approach, which makes his movies pretty dull after your first exposure to his work.

Meh. I don't care too much about Frankenstein.
Lovecraft did the concept better with Herbert West in my opinion.

When Lovecraft’s sent him poem called “Frankenstein” he wrote her back saying that he is called The Monster and not Frankenstein
