Now that the dust has settled, are we ready to admit that the Doctor Who revival (2005-2025) was a colossal mistake from start to finish?
Now that the dust has settled...
No. Eccelston, Tennant and Smith were great. The rest are leftist mental illness fan faction and are not canon.
Tennant is garbage
No, britbongs must suffer for their crimes
His stuff is sporadically interesting at least
no u
At least we have Rose back now.
Franchise that prides itself on change, suddenly has an inability to change and let go whenever the gay man with the dead husband is in charge.
Ncuti > Tennant
Season 9 Capaldi was kino, all other new seasons were unwatchable garbage
I haven't watched who since the middle of jodie/chinballs run anyway, but I'm honestly baffled that they've done something this retarded, what were they fucking thinking?
Any Sylvester McCoy season > all of nuwho
Even Season 24 with Mel and all that nonsense.
Every knows Season 26 is kino but Season 25 is underappreciated.
Not canon, sorry
The actor is fantastic, but the rot was already everywhere. Unfortunately Capaldi is not canon either with his Medieval England full of blacks.
what were they fucking thinking?
He operates on a level far beyond your puny comprehension.
no boring ass speech
upbeat tone
Murray Gold's best track in forever
Ncuti simply had the best regeneration in nu-who, it's fact.
Season 10 was meh, but World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls are some of the best episodes of the show ever and would have been a perfect ending to the series. in my headcanon, it stops there.
If I'm honest, yeah you're right. Very talented actor, a literal Oscar winner, but he had nothing to work with. What a shame.
They didn't even give him a sendoff with Sean Pertwee as the third doctor like he would have wanted (third doctor was Capaldi's favourite). It would have made more sense plot wise too
this. the Tennant era has aged really poorly.
Moffat's run on the other hand has aged like a fine wine, especially Capaldi. it will get a huge reappraisal, in fact it's already beginning, and will be looked back on as the best era of nuwho even though ratings declined.
Britain's favourite trans and bisexual character
Capaldi being a fan of the show all his life is what makes this monumentally sad. What a missed opportunity. He could have been the GOAT Doctor.
They didn't even give him a sendoff with Sean Pertwee as the third doctor
Knowing how Moffat treated 1 I think it's for the best.
I've recently started watching dr who from the very beginning and the Hartnell era stuff is actually pretty good
Sean Pertwee has stated multiple times that he's got no intention of ever playing his dad's Doctor.
Tennant returning is an admission that the female Doctor was a failure
Billie Piper returning is an admission that the gay black Doctor was a failure
Kek Doctor Who is helping other franchises by showing them that this stuff doesn't work
The Doctor should be a cute feminine woman and not some weird non binary whore.
Ncuti >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> T*nnant
He should play his own Doctor
Hmm that's lame and shit
Anyway he's not the only actor who could do it, David Bradley didn't even look much like William Hartnell.
I just think it would have been neat to segue from the third doctor facing the giant spider, being exposed to deadly radiation, then tumbling through the time vortex and bumping into the 12th doctor. Because there was a sort of gap there, he was missing for a while before returning to UNIT and turning into Tom Baker
William Russel's halfgroid son looks a lot like his dad if you adjust his white balance.
Sean Pertwee, the son of Jon Pertwee who played the Third Doctor in Doctor Who, has been approached about appearing in the series, but has declined the role of the Third Doctor himself. He has expressed interest in playing other roles, like an evil son or a character connected to the Third Doctor in some way, as an ode to his father. He was offered a role in Series 9, but his commitments to Gotham prevented him from taking it, according to Radio Times.
I wonder what role he would have had in Series 9. Maybe a timelord on Gallifrey?
Rassilon, maybe?
Maybe Rassilon. Or the general maybe could have regenerated into Sean.
David Tennant is the same age now (54) as William Hartnell was when filming the first season of Doctor Who
And yeah he actually looks it
He should be his own Doctor
The problem with NuWho is that they had to cater to a global (American) audience. Now this is a problem with all British media but its at its most noticeable with well known franchises, like Shitlock, Black Mirror etc. The problems are further compounded with the rise of CGI during dr whos revival. CGI is obviously cheaper and allows for more scope but do it slapdash and you get stuff that looks like a nostalgia critic episode. The limitations of practical effects, while looking shoddy also, have a sense of charm and effort. And then theres the obvious problem of the bbc going full LGBTQI+ agenda. I am not even against having a non white man as dr who or a companion but they write them so obnoxiously.
I watched some episodes when Tennant was the Doctor ages ago on tv and I kinda want to get into the franchise properly. Should i just start from the first season?
I don't think it's that. They weren't really catering to anyone. It was highly personal to a handful of faggots (RTD, Chibnall, Moffat is an honorary faggot)
The best doctor who decades ago wasn't made by "fans" but by talented writers and producers with interesting ideas.
Yes. Always start from the beginning and never skip episodes.
This is an unpopular opinion but I would start with the first season from 1963. All the old stuff is on internet archive except perhaps the very last old season (26 from 1989)
Start with eccelston, it's great fun
Moffat's run on the other hand has aged like a fine wine, especially Capaldi
What about that scene with Capaldi Who walking through Victorian era London with a shitload of black people all around
Thank you anons, i'll check it out after i'm done waging. Chu
Ace is a snacc
You're welcome anon!
it's required BBC DEI
at least when asked Moffat didn't say that England was actually that diverse and openly admitted that it's just wishful thinking and fantasy
that's no an excuse
capaldi is bad because I saw black people
please try to be less autistic
WHOFACTS
As of 2025, 2005 is as long ago as 1989
History is a whitewash.
back to r3ddit scum
True. Especially ww2 history.
But that's what your god Capaldi said.
He didn't meant it
He did. In fact, he told me that he added that line specifically to the script.
N... no
That can't be true
That's impossible!
why does doctor who look so weird now, it's super flat
General decline of standards. Nobody knows how to light a scene anymore because they have nothing to refer to.
guys have no tits and despite acting gay af the nigra is a guy
That too. Fans never produce anything good.
ok I fold.
I did defend nu-who for a while. I would say that the changes from classic who were made to update the show and make it work for the modern era.
I can see that RTD's relaunch was over sentimental fan fiction, pulling cheap tricks to make the show popular. Which worked at the time but doesn't work now.
Reject him
He has betrayed you
Tom Baker looks really good for 91
He lost a ton of weight, but it doesn't seem to have created loose skin on his face.
damn that us really nice, if he has his mind that's impressive
Apparently so, by all accounts he has all his marbles
But did he have them all to begin with? That's debatable.
She should be good. She was in it before wasn't she? When it used to be good.
