What happened to movie song tie-ins?

I mean songs that are made strictly for movies as part of their marketing. My favorite was the MI2 soundtrack with Metallica, Limp Bizkit etc. Also MI3 which had a comfy 2000's R&B song at the end credits made by Kanye West. Any examples you guys want to share?

I always loved this one. Say what you want about the movie, the soundtrack was killer.

What about the Lady Gaga song for Top Gun 2?

Incredibly soulful. What went wrong? The only recent example I can think of this:

Music lost it's importance after the invention of Youtube and Spotify.

The 2000's were the last good time to be alive. 2007 is when it all went to hell.

My favorite was the Biker Boyz soundtrack with Metallica

This is the all time greatest one ever.
Completely honorable mention to Metallica and I Disappear though.

Why were all these Marvel soundtracks on Wind-Up Records?

SPY (2015), a parody of the spy genre with Melissa McCarthy.

What an INCREDIBLY kino main title song. Blows a good half of Bond songs out of the water easily.

(the music video is super meh, just click play for the audio itself)

Side note, this got released on two different releases: on the soundtrack (with the songs used in the movie) and on the score (background music from the movie). The score version is fine. The soundtrack version has an *exceptionally* horrible master, ultra loud beyond reason and excessively bright. I have no idea how anyone approved that. The score version should be your go-to, it's the one in the youtube upload above. (desu I'd still mix and master it differently, this has a very "mastered for the actual movie's audio" sound, but overall it's fine)
