RTD1/Moffat is better than Classic Who EVER was
/who/ - Doctor Who General
The people that created Dr Who in the 70s were genius. They gave him 13 generations limit for a reason. Matt Smith was the last Doctor. They must’ve instinctively knew that after 13 generations the show would turn into this hilarious gay shit it has become. Everything after Matt Smith is fan fiction.
These threads move way too fucking fast.
At least in Moffat's era the core tenets of the show are kept and the Doctor feels like the arrogant genius who seeks to establish authority in every room.
I watched Oxygen on a whim last week and was floored. Not by the episode's quality, it's average, but by the realization that for a long time in S1-10 the show seemed to have a natural grasp of what the Doctor's role in social situations is, what he's like compared to other people. The Doctor shows up to a crisis situation, quickly analyzes the crux of the issue from the perspective of a time traveller who's seen it all, finds out what the danger is, calls everyone retards in his own way and sets them on the right path with a better plan, and neutralizes or win over those who try to resist him when he's taking charge. Back in the day this was just considered a natural part of the character from Classic to NuWho, but I don't think Ncuti Gatwa has ever felt like that even once in his run. He just feels like some young guy who arrives to the scene to smile laugh whoop and go with the flow. So going back to an older episode and seeing the actual Doctor just makes RTD's Ncuti feel like such a non-Doctor to me.
Classic Who sucks.
AAAIIIII I FELL OFF A LEDGE AND MUST REGENERATE
Smith is a boring Redditor. Capaldi is good though.
Who's that blonde bloke after Capaldi?
People who think Capaldi is the best are socially awkward losers
Why are there people saying bi-regenreation is worse than Timeless Child? It isn't. I know people theorized that it retconned canon by making every doctor incarnation in the last bi-regenerate but that's not what happened, Jodie does not know about the bi-regenreation implying it's only 14 and on that bi-regenerated, and the explanation of it being an adaptation from Master sterilising any surviving Timelords makes sense to me at least. It's also extremely easy to retcon. Just make one of them storylines about hidden society of surviving Timelords and have them fix themselves and not be sterile anymore and shit, no more bi-regenreation.
Lrn2backlink you fucking dumbass
Joseph Whittaker
Johnny Whittaker
He was pretty shit
I just read a leaked email.
They're doing an 8 episode special about McGann bigenerating a few times, and having to take down the remaining Doctors while also navigating falling in love with a Dalek
Say ONE nice thing about Fruity Shooty Gatwa Doctor
Stopped watching after The Day of the Doctor in 2014, if dubs I'll start watching again
You can't handle the truth, loser
Paul McGann was shite
If i get dubs you have to watch the entire Jodie run.
I liked that his companions were cute
He was a steaming arse bandit and I'm glad he's dead
If I get dubs you both have to jerk off to Jodie's feet.
The show losing a Doctor after only two years and 20 episodes is the biggest faliure and fuckup since Eccleston left back in 2005.
An absolute fucking shitshow
Should've been David tennant again lol
Peter Davison
He was male
You only like him because he's not attractive. You can relate to him.
Bi-regeneration smacks of fin-de-siecle Victorian homosexuality. When men fantasised about reproducing without having to go near those disgusting annoying female things.
If I get dubs you have to listen to all of Tennant and Piper Big Finish
People who think Capaldi is the best are fans that know what Doctor Who is actually supposed to be about
He's hot and when he isn't being fruity he's doing pretty cool shit. I still think The Well was his peak
whole subplot about how clearly these extra regenerations he was never supposed to have are biologically fucked and he just keeps turning into the same bloke
Can't be worse than what we have.
David Mitchell will be the new Doctor.
We'll be going back to CLassic Who, but instead of the Doctor being an arrogant outspoken genius that commands a room, we'll have an arrogant genius Doctor that gets sidelined. Despite him being sidelined, the camera will only focus on him instead of the companions. As they talk, you'll see close ups of the Doctor with an inner monologue about what he's thinking.
No you have to listen to all of 8s big finish audios
Doctor Who fans are socially awkward losers
Fixed.
It would be fine if the seasons had 10 episodes and RTD didn't shit the bed with both finales. A Doctor who is not here for long but still happy about the time he had is a decent character arc on paper.
Even Oscar Wilde would've called bigeneration fruity bollocks
Dubs and you gotta buy Big Finish's full time war range
Mitchell already has his own mediocre sort of show.
It's called Ludwig and it's about an autist who has to investigate the disappearance of his twin brother who's a police detective, and he discovers that solving murders is a lot like solving puzzles.
It's watchable, but considering the entire fucking premise is solving puzzles, they do very little to explain the puzzles at all and most of the murders just come down to who could have been there at the time of death.
If you watch it and realise it's shit, I'd recommend digging up Jonathan Creek instead.
Ludwig is kino
The Well was actually really good. We should have had more like that.
to think this all could have been avoided if they had just picked a 30-50 white male and put him into an anthology of sci-fi adventures with a cute girl by his side
how could they fuck this up, it's an easy win formula and writes itself and now you can just ask the ai to write it anyway
I think 12 describes his incarnation as 'a bit of a clerical error' in one episode anyway, so it almost works fine with the original limit
forced regenerations in Power of The Doctor
Whittaker regenerating into Tennant
Tennant bigenerating Gatwa
Gatwa regenerating into Piper
Mrs. Flood bigenerating into Rani
That's a lot of piss glows to happen in the space of less than 3 years
He didn't overstay his welcome
Fans know that Capaldi's era was a misunderstanding of the character.
It's not though, is it? It's tepid and uninspired, but at least that's leagues ahead of nu-who.
tumblr fans having a good time
It's not too late.
never met a straight bloke that uses the word TEPID
i'm so pissed off with what they've done to this show
i'm actually fucking livid
no sir, all 17. Including two with the same face, one ex girlfriend, one woke autist woman, a fugitive that he can't remember from that hush-hush project...
Paterson announcement tomorrow 7pm
Satan, you need to accept it is over.
never met a straight bloke
You could stop there, Russel.
There is literally no point in watching the show anymore. The format is based around a constant build to the finale, but RTD doesn't give a fuck about the finale and will just hand wave things or defeat them in 2 mins. Bring back serials, sack RTD and hire a good male actor. Or better yet, just let the show die
Timeless Child can be ignored at the very least.
Bi-Generation basically means that we not only have a spare Doctor running around (14) but also creates a can of worms for future writers to keep past Doctors around.

Different anon. Should I bother with Jonathan Creek after series 3?
Won't do you any good attaching your emotional well-being to a concept as nebulous as a television program
Let the beeb know what you thought.
If the few dozen people who read this post took two minutes to say that they thought it was dumb, it'd be more feedback than most Doctor Who episodes ever get.

I also was pissed off, like two or three show fuckups ago, five or six years ago or whenever it was.
Now I feel nothing.
The first open gay doctor dies before pride month starts
Whittaker
> 25/12/17 - 23/10/22
5 YEARS?
how
There's also Troughton to Pertwee in the War Games in Colour.
Ncuti > Tennant
frequent year long breaks
First black male doctor makes his companion a single mother
Chibnall dragging his heels as well as COVID fucking shit up.
There was a 2 year gap between her first season and second.
Then it was 3 years back to back with from season 2 to her final specials
The Julia Sawalha episodes in Season 4 are somewhat fun but anything after that is more of the same.
Off-hand, probably not. I do remember it declined a bit. But the funny thing about that show is that it could still have a good episode now and again. I think not constantly being on the air contributed to that.
I rewatched most of it a couple years ago, and the good episodes were excellent and everything else was just passable. I'd just watch the episodes with the highest ratings on imdb if quality matters more to you than nostalgia-kino
Danse Macabre is peak in terms of premise imo.
Somewhere out there 14 is blowing black men in a public lavatory.
2017- Regeneration at Christmas
2018- Series 1
2019- New Years Special
2020- Series 2
2021- New Year's Special, Flux
2022- Specials year
Its fucking crazy to think we saw the Thirteenth Doctor regenerate not even three whole years ago and now we're on Sixteen. If this was Classic we'd have had to have gone through at least six whole years getting from there to here.
They gave him 13 generations limit for a reason.
This was nowhere mentioned in classic who. That's from the NAs.
That's from the NAs.
fROM what
Rani sweatie why couldn't you just clone time lords, look into this whole bigeneration and hack it to make more Time lords?
Bro fell off a fucking radio tower. It's a way better death than "oh no, I absorbed some space energy or radiation or whatever".
That's another problem with the modern series, they're really afraid to make them die interestingly. I'd love a Doctor to go out sword fighting, or stranded in the depths of space after getting blown out of a wrecked space ship. Maybe drowning, and getting washed up on a beach. I don't know.
Writers have no idea to have fun with the factor of a guy being able to cheat death
Ncuti’s run was so pathetic he never fought a Dalek or Cyberman.
first gay doctor has a flamboyant but short life (metaphor for AIDS)
first gay Doctor is also the first Doctor to have a child with a woman
first gay Doctor dies right before Pride Month
BRAVO RUSTY
That's from Deadly fucking Assassin. Try actually watching the classic series you Fitzroy slurping mong.
Will probably still get around to watching them then. I remember watching the show ages ago and being kinda bummed out about Maddy leaving.
He fought bigotry and that's what matters, really
Regular humans can survive that fall. Classic Who was so shit.
That's because regeneration became an "event" and they want both the predecessor and successor to look good. They're too afraid for the first shot of a new Doctor being an actor looking drowned or covered in shit and blood
not to mention we see his boyfriend in a hell dimension
Next doctor. Calling it now
Yeah, and bigotry won judging by viewership.
I thought that was in Mawdryn Undead.
Nardole is the Watcher.
Nardole is The Boss.

Recommended Big Finnish audiobooks?
Nope - Rose will regenerate directly into Matt Lucas's Doctor at the end of the Xmas episode.
The idea of doing more of an outright comedic Doctor, who is mostly just annoyed by the rest of the universe is maybe something that's worth exploring at least once (especially now that the show is kind of dead and it would be cheaper to produce it in a sitcom style).
David Mitchell, Matt Berry, Rowan Atkinson again. They all have some potential as ideas.
Yeah play it by ear. S4E7 The Grinning Man stuck with me, although it wasn't as good as I remembered on rewatch.
kinda bummed out about Maddy leaving.
They had a good dynamic after the writers gave up on trying to push a romance lol
Oscar Wilde would have been a better show runner than RTD
He got so skinny recently, looks even more like a cancer patient.
worst Ncuti episodes are still better than the worst Jodie episodes
ozempic's a helluva drug
Deadly Assassin declared that the master had used up all his regenerations but not how many there were
Seventh doctor books from 1990-1996
"New Adventures of Doctor Who"
gay black doctor leaves the indian woman a single mother raising a psychic wish baby by herself
RTD what were you thinking?
Jumping into the discussion this is the line from Deadly Assassin
ENGIN: After the twelfth regeneration, there is no plan that will postpone death.
I don't watch this show, please explain. The doctor had a child?
Comet in Moominland
ENGIN: After the twelfth regeneration, there is no plan that will postpone death.
Say it.
The Doctor goes out leading an old timey naval fleet in a battle against the baddies
his ship gets blown to pieces. He's presumed dead
regenerates under water. Gets washed up on some desert island as a new man
has to do Castaway shit, while figuring out who he is, and dealing with hallucinations of past enemies (also maybe throw in a loose adaptation of that one 5th Doctor comic where he meets a Japanese soldier who has been stuck there for decades)
That would be full kino.
It seems you were right all along
In my hubris, I have overestimated myself
Get that Scottish Cocksucker
My raggedy doctor :)
It is Mawdryn Undead that both restates the regeneration limit from The Deadly Assassin and also puts to bed the unclear canonicity of the Morbius Doctors
DOCTOR: I can only regenerate twelve times. I have already done so four times.
Ruby mom is written like a monster it's kinda hilarious
Interesting. That's pretty clear
The cope was something like
Uhhhm those were Morbius' part regenerations!
How d'you do, fellow blonde-haired 20-something white woman? You're so pretty I can tell you must be very popular, I would love for us to trade the latest fashion-ACK
DEEP FRIED MARS BAR
IS THAT A GAY SEX REFERENCE???
I haven't watched a single episode from Ncuti's run.
yeah so one of the antagonists from the show gets taken by the Rani (another Timelord from classic who) and they get a demigod that can grant wishes which they use to create a fictional doubtless world to summon The Omega (another classic doctor who villain from the 70s/80s). In this weird doubt free world The Doctor and his Companion have a baby named Poppy who is a return character from possibly the worst episode of Dr Who ever. (There was a space station full of babies). Once they fix the problem with the big bads Poppy blinks out of existence because she was a wish manifestation. Then the doctor uses his regeneration energy to make his companion a single mom
But he's gay?
If this show wasn't completely dead somebody would've already an edit of Anita opening the door to the Doctor being really gay and then immediately closing it

Wrong.
I'm not a Chibnall fan but I do think RTD2 is even worse.
Ncuti Gatwa is gay and RTD has made this incarnation of the doctor gay.
Hated it.
WHERE was Susan?
WHY was Omega a giant zombie?
WHY did the Rani get killed so quickly?
WHY can the Doctor suddenly just choose to regenerate whenever he wants?
WHY OH WHY OH WHY
WHAT THE PHUCK HAS HAPPENED TO MY BELOVED DOCTOR WHO !!!
The intention of Hinchliffe (no idea about 'Robin Bland') was that they were the Doctor, although it is not explicitly clear to the point that even at the time of broadcast apparently most people took them as being Morbius' faces. Hinchcliffe also later said it was ad hoc and not really thought out about the implications - source radiotimes.com
There's only so many speeches you can give before regenerating before it gets old.
Can I use your post as a springboard to complain about his name again?
I don't think people outside of the UK understand how fucking annoying it was being berated for not being able to pronounce the fucker's name.
I don't know how we got to a place as a culture where native speakers can be admonished for not understanding a name where letters don't make the sounds they do in their language. It would be like going to Japan and Japanese media telling-off all Japanese people for not pronouncing their L's correctly when they say your name. Utterly deranged.
This is true. The only thing I actually enjoyed from yesterdays episode was the scene with 13, and I don't consider her a real incarnation of the Doctor.
Anything after 12 is non-canon anyway.
Reminder that Russell Tovey would've been the 16th Doctor if not for the spin-off.
Dude are you serious? They can't fucking do that because it they did the show would be good.
They were cooler in the old days
A tear, Sarah Jane? Where there's life there's...
Now it's always a big speech and orchestral shart music
I'm telling you, there would something to be said for scaling it way back, and treating it as a sitcom, like Red Dwarf.
The biggest effect you would get in an episode is maybe one guy in a costume, or one set that they use to it's full extent. I'd probably enjoy that significantly more than the "everything and the kitchen sink" approach.
That's not far off from what actually happened.
13's tenure is better than 15's and that's saying something. I really wanted to like both Ncuti and Jodi but they were written like shit.
being berated for not being able to pronounce the fucker's name
Berated by who?
my only regret is...I didn't get bummed more...AHHHHHHHHHH
Bravo RTD. BAFTA nomination guaranteed
Dubs and we all kill ourselves
Just call him Gatwa, if it's easier- it's his surname.
13th Doctor is STILL the absolute low point for the series. It committed the worst possible sin. It was boring.
Say what you want about RTD but at least his slop is watchable.
I know, I just think it would be funny if she noped at him twirling in a skirt
British media, and leftoids on twitter
Don't make me dig it up, but I saw at least one article calling it racist for not intuiting that Nc makes a fucking Sh sound.
Say what you want about RTD but at least his slop is watchable.
Is it though...?
What's the point in watching a show that doesn't give a fuck about continuity and actively goes out of its way to shit on it and make it confusing
Where anything could happen and it's never explained and you're supposed to just go with it
How can anyone find entertainment out of that
Yes. That's why I said it.
A lot of old sci-fi was like that. They could tell a great story while practically filming in a broom closet. And they did it 20+ times a year, every year.
It's a reference to Moffat being a fat Scotsman.
You know what? Fair enough. I can't argue with that logic.
The plummeting audience numbers are your answer, anon.
The show isn't even coming back for another two years, if at all.
Blink
good
Heaven Sent
Great
Silence in the Library
Good
Vincent and The Doctor
Shmaltzy crap
The Day of the Doctor
Okay
The Girl in the Fireplace
Okay
Doomsday
Yikes, also why is Doomsday is there twice
Still seething over South Park retconning Tolkien I see.
in the context of the episode they are clearly meant to be the Doctors but I took that the Time for the Doctor retconned them out, the tTC then canonised them again in a really shitty way.
I've had my own head canon that the doctor lived a normal life on Gallifrey, maybe just as an archivist, then he got a new regen cycle and started his second cycle as the Doctor we know.
but I just wished they left it ambiguous, let fans think what they want to think, even if it's messy.
I'd rather rewatch a 13 episode as I can at least enjoy it ironically. There is NOTHING good about RTD2 apart from the girl who plays Belinda.
Those writers had real life experiences and actual literature to inspire them
These faggots have nothing but tv itself and their own faggotry to inspire them
They haven't got a single interesting thought in their heads
Funniest part is that even Ncuti pronounces it wrong.
Disagree.
The doctor has regenerated what? 17 times now? It's not really much of a spectacle anymore. There's only so many times you can do the same emotional regeneration scene over and over.
I'd rather have the doctor in serious shit and have them change on the spot amidst chaos to save their own ass. It's a way of preventing death after all. If you wanna say goodbye to an actor. Have a scene dedicated to that earlier or something.
I can at least enjoy it ironically
Why the fuck would anyone waste their time like that
Not half as fun.
wtf where?
Well apart from the time Lords gifting you a new cycle in the five doctors retcon
Don't make me dig it up, but I saw at least one article calling it racist for not intuiting that Nc makes a fucking Sh sound.
I don't believe you
Watching Tranny Park after the first three seasons
The point isn't to be a spectacle in the context of the show, it's a scene intended for publicity. Just look at any article covering the last regeneration. Every single fucking one of them has either clipped it or taken a still from the scene
His name is pronounced "Shootie"?
Nah, Ncuti had episodes better than any Jodie episode like The Well or Lux
I’m not the biggest 5th doctor fan but I enjoyed rat trap.
Meant to typed "pronounced" but anyway.
Wait, about the doctor and not gatwa himself? Shit. I don't know. His female companions who constantly had to do all the work and save the day for him were both hot, I guess. I think it's funny that they implied the fat chick from the special had enough fat & mass to ignite a star for billions of years. If it was about gatwa himself, well, I'm sure he's probably a decent actor himself, just stuck with a role being written and managed by a bunch of toads. I personally wouldn't have given a shit about a black doctor, nor a gay one, or the twofer special, if the fucking character was written well. I can understand that the doctor is gay without having to be reminded each episode, in some overly flamboyant way, that he's just taken it up the ass the night prior and wants to make sure everyone knows. Or has him ditch the main plot entirely so he can go try and get fucked in the ass, of which he could then make sure everyone knew.
Except with South Park, the retcon was the joke. They even changed the subtitles for older episodes to call him Tolkien instead of Token. Doctor Who wants to be taken seriously yet constantly rewrites its own rules to fit the story, instead of rewriting the story to fit the rules.
Don’t you think he looks tired?
He said something recently about his mum having a go at him for pronouncing it wrong. Apparently the N isn't supposed to be silent.
I know it's because filming water stuff and underwater stuff is a nightmare, but having the doctor be blown off a ship as it sinks by cannon fire during the golden age of piracy, have him regenerate in the water (you could even shoot it like a spark in the darkness) and then have the first thing the new doctor does be save some of the sailors underwater would let you avoid the first you see of the doctor being completely unflattering and would let it be unique
The well wasn't good, it was mid at best.
Doctor Who has now gone from having Rose berate and comdemn Cassandra for becoming a stubborn warped monstrosity with 0 of her original essence, just because she was terrified of death and endings - to acting exactly like Cassandra and even wearing Rose's face in the process
I liked it a lot, disagree.
In theory, the continuity is a loose framework, and what matters are the individual stories.
In actuality, the stories are bad too, and the show cares way too much about continuity, despite not really having any.
So why were all those "influencers" at the Tardis set the other day? Did they know how badly this episode was gonna go down and wanted to bribe them?
The Rani's plan
survive Order 66 and escape to Earth
live for years alongside random pretty ladies in London in the hopes that The Doctor chooses them as companions
occasionally stand on rooftops and make 4th wall breaks to nobody in particular
die at space Eurovision
bigenerate into DesiRani
immediately become a sniveling toady
somehow blow up and steal the TARDIS
go back in time and steal a wishmaking baby
get Russell Brand to wish for his perfect world and trap The Doctor in it
The Doctor's gay lover manages to broadcast a message to him from hell
The Doctor remembering that he's gay is so earth-shattering it literally destroys the universe and frees Omega
DesiRani tries to fight Skelly-Omeggy with a sonic screwdriver and gets eaten
makes a Two Ronnies joke and teleports away
Probably for that Unleashed special next week
His mum must be the only one who pronounces it "N'Shooty" instead of "shooty".
I only listened to Jubilee (6th doctor vs the very last Dalek ever, reused for the 9th doctor ep Dalek), Spare Parts (5th doctor and the genesis of the Cybermen), and Loups-Garoux (5th doctor and Turlough vs an ancient werewolf-flavour evil)
All were pretty good
It gets minus points for forgetting what the midnight entity was. They changed it so much it might as well pun intended been a new monster.
I might have a companion from 1602
Lol no you won't, Russell.
That's basically the only major fault I can think of in the episode and it's mostly easily ignored, you can just treat it as a different entity.
It was supposed to be a new monster but Russell said in Unleashed that he felt it felt like the Midnight Entity so he just went with it.
Her own fault for not bothering to correct him.
no Lux bf
why live?
That I don't mind too much because it's made what the entity truly is more mysterious.
anon had a stroke
Tardis Wiki were quick with their Sixteen page
Note
Disney has decided not to renew their contract for more episodes of Doctor Who
Russel is shopping around right now for a new source of finance
Most likely candidate right now is Amazon
International rights are up for grabs with the sole exception of the UK which will forever remain on the BBC
Ncuti Gatwa was meant to have a 3rd season in which he would regenerate but after the uncertainty of the shows future became apparent the actor decided to cut his time short to pursue other projects
Billie Piper's scene was filmed MONTHS after everything else and she never met Ncuti Gatwa
It is true that Russel has several scripts ready for a potential season 3
Steven Moffat is said to have a 2 parter ready for a potential season 3
That's not the real wiki THOUGH
tardis.wiki
most of the article is just 'to be added'
That's pathetic, how is the fandom wiki doing better
They really need a new rule that just bans this 'to be added' shit and forces wiki writers to actually put effort into their articles instead of lazily doing this, jesus
How does a show that has mansplaing and drag get away with this lame end for a companion
It was up 5 minutes after the episode, I wonder if people like them even care about the show. I think they just like something, anything to obsess over.
also we still don't know she's actually the 16th, it might be some trick (no I'm not coping)
If this shitshow somehow gets renewed after yesterday, then RTD clearly has some mega dirt on BBC executives.
They should get Dave to produce it. Not even joking. The level of production of new Red Dwarf is all you actually need, and it would probably do the series some good to get back to a more modest budget.
give me the next series and i'll save the show
They're already swapping doctors this soon? What the fuck happened?
The problem is those sections shouldn't be there yet because she's been in screen for all of 5 seconds so they can't feasibly be filled in.
Physically, the Sixteenth Doctor was female-presenting
the meme is true, the only viewers left really are just wiki writers
of course they love RTD's slop
Nerds have worked how that Billie filmed her scene in March, due to her cancelling some appearances
Yeah, it felt weird to me. Like she's a different person now, essentially.
Chooty beggered off
Plans?
Does loads of "timey wimey" bullshit to bring back memberberries
Doesn't bring back kino
They have Stockholm Syndrome from being forced to watch it all to write their articles and rewatch it to get every last detail
Red Dwarf also has two head writers. RTD needs someone to veto his worst ideas.
It probably makes more sense as an ending for Ruby as you can tie it into her being an adopted kid too. Whole era is a shitshow
>makes a Two Ronnies joke and teleports away
Four candles?
Billie Piper's scene was filmed MONTHS after everything else and she never met Ncuti Gatwa
tbf that by itself is not out of the ordinary. iirc Tennant to Smith was the only one where they were on set at the same time, at least in NuWho.
idk lol
Bring back Jenna Coleman and make her lez out with Billie Piper for the lads
He would have been such a good actual doctor.
This episode got shilled HARD in the UK. No fucking clue why. One way to guarantee I don't watch something is to advertise it to me. If it's good, I'll hear about it. If you have to pay to promote it, it's probably not good.
Disastrous ratings and backlash to the show becoming ‘too woke’. Do you have any idea how obnoxious you have to be for Doctor Who fans to say “Ok that’s a bit much for me.”
I fucking hate that TBA, it's on virtually every BF audio page and the VNAs, yet they can find the time to write articles for random shit like an object that appeared in the background of an episode for two seconds
RUSSEEEEELL
WHERE IS MY PATERSON JOSEPH DOCTOR
THE RATINGS ARE GOING DOWN MY FRIENDS ALL STOPPED WATCHING
LOOK AT THE RATINGS RUUUSSEEEEELL
The level of production of new Red Dwarf is all you actually need
Red Dwarf also has two head writers. RTD needs someone to veto his worst ideas
Please don't tell me you actually watch nu-Dwarf. That show died with the final episode of season 6 and you can't convince me otherwise.
I never saw any shilling for it outside of social media
If you watch shortform videos on any platform, ads for it would be inserted there
but I don't think Ncuti Gatwa has ever felt like that even once in his run

Say something nice about the first BPD arthoe doctor
desu, I'd literally just cannibalise old pulp magazines. That's all you need.
Oh I have adblock
10 and Rose coming back is an open admission from Russel T Davies that his vision of the show has failed and needs a BIG stunt to bring back fans.
The problem here is that even though RTD and the BBC know its failing they REFUSE to do what's necessary to guarantee success.
The blueprint is right there. It brought the most success the show has ever seen with Tennant and Smith. Cast a handsome 30 something straight white man and give them an attractive 20 something female companion.
the show had a last ditch opportunity to cast a truly charismatic eccentric man that would play a real Doctor
it's just more gimmick stuntcasting with 0 regard for whether the show procures good Doctor material
i did not think the show could get worse than the timeless child but i keep being proven wrong
New Red Dwarf is actually consistently okay.
Though I'm talking more about the production. The sets are nice. the models are nice. The CGI is serviceable. It's all you need.
And there would be some appeal to the idea of a company that isn't flipping Disney, Amazon, Netflix, or the BBC having control over every bit of culture.
if the show was never cancelled in 89 they would have been a pretty neat doctor and companion combo
On your phone?
no showrunner will ever have the guts to do what is necessary and explicitly retcon everything, without exception, since 2017 and start again with a new thirteenth doctor
Sad
The blueprint is right there. It brought the most success the show has ever seen with Tennant and Smith. Cast a handsome 30 something straight white man and give them an attractive 20 something female companion.
This only solves half the problem. The writing would still be atrocious. Even so, you’re never getting another straight white man as the Doctor, because the BBC will never admit they were wrong.
Fuck off
10 and Rose coming back is an open admission from Russel T Davies that his vision of the show has failed and needs a BIG stunt to bring back fans.
It's a bit funny that bringing back basically the entirety of Series 4 (Tennant, Dona, Wilf, Sylvia, Shaun Temple, RTD, Julie Gardner, Murray Gold) for the 60th specials was supposed to be a quick injection of life and hype back into the show, and then Ncuti Gatwa would send it into a completely new direction that is unshackled from the show's past. Then not even 2 years later we're bringing back Rose again, wouldn't be surprised if the retirement Tennant came back as well kek.
carries your shitty finale
Conrad chads how are we feeling
But the writing isn't bad outside of the hamfisted political messaging. The show has at the very least been watchable under RTD2. Contrast that with Chibnal when the show was simply boring.
Casting a white hot guy and a hot girl won't solve this problem if we have episodes that feel like bad fever dreams
No I just don't watch youtube on my phone
next doctor after Billy's specials is going to be Indian. Going after the Indian market will be the last roll of the dice. After that fails DW will be shelved for good.
Instead of 15 waking up in Belinda's garden, have it so 12 wakes up and sees Susan (everything after The Doctor Falls would be a bad dream, including TUAT).
Capaldi wanted to meet Susan anyway. He'd regenerate after spending a few minutes with her.
I would do it. The BBC should hire me.
I have said dozens of times the only way to save this series is with a hard reboot.
If made head writer, I WILL put the Doctor into a parallel universe where The Doctor does not exist.
I WILL make a point about Gallifrey not being where it's supposed to be and make it ambiguous for at least 2 seasons whether Time Lords even exist here.
I WILL refrain from referencing anything that happened after Moffat became showrunner.
I WILL cut all the leftoid politics and make a show for normal people just looking to be entertained 1 hour a week.
who the fuck is this? someone give me a qrd haven't watched in years
When the fuck will you learn that it's the CONSISTANT SHIT WRITING that has killed who
When do we get the overnight figures?
New dalek catchphrase
DO NOT REDEEM. DO NOT REDEEEEEEM!!!
Capaldi killed Who. Show was massively popular before space grandpa.
So I'm still watching classic who and understand like 2% of the threads at best due to the finale, so can someone help clear some shit up?
RTD
I get you guys hate him, and it's because he was some like...Writer that only wrote shit episodes in other people's seasons, right? Then somehow got put in charge of running it and decided that running meant straight in to the ground with no survivors, pushing as much political propaganda as possible and shitting on any and all fans?
RTD still in charge
Is there a reason he can't be fired? Or replaced? And is there any way to retcon the damage he's done?
Realities/Timelines
So like, what timeline or reality even is this? Do they have a prime timeline like trek? Or are they also like trek in which something gets changed in the past, which changes the future, they try and fix it, but the act of fixing it breaks the timeline and everyone returns to a 99.99999% similar "prime" timeline and just carry on? Or do they just say fuck it and swap universes/timelines on a whim and just decide to pick one to live in, not really caring about the old/original one, so long as the bad guy is defeated?
I WILL refrain from referencing anything that happened after Moffat became showrunner.
Go back further.
Cut it all. All of nuWho
The villain of the finale. He made a wish to have his "perfect world", which involved all disabled people being homeless, and trans people being erased from the universe.
Enjoy the final years of pajeets still being funny. By sheer numbers alone they are this planet's future and that should depress you
Cybersars will be based
Turn the red dot into a laser beam
Going after the Indian market will be the last roll of the dice.
Well that's doomed from the start. Non-whites in general don't give a flying fuck about Dr Who as has been made abundantly clear over the last two years.
Assuming Billie is just another stunt casted Doctor that only sticks around for one special, who will be the next Doctor? Will it be a male? Another homo? Does RTD get to pick again?
Russ' take on a right wing podcaster, except he doesn't really know how to write that.
Pretty sure Naylor's been the sole writer since Rob Grant left after Series 6.
There won't be any.
I know it was a meme but he would have been great (if supported by a good writer so not RTD)
Oops forgot image
Disney will start imposing conditions to try and turn things around. RTD will get pushed out and we'll have whatever Disney feels comfortable promoting in relation to the US political climate.
Why is it that the right can write left-wingers but the left is fucking incapable of writing right-wing people as anything other than parodies?
RTD rebooted it in 2005. He's only back now because Chris Chibnall ruined the show when he was showrunner by turning the Doctor female and retconning William Hartnell as not being the First Doctor.
There's never been a consistent lore with timelines in Doctor Who, they change timelines by rewriting time.
what a fine lad, I hope things worked out for him
Billie is cast as Doctor and 14 becomes her companion
Why do you have pictures of my trailer trash neighbor and her boyfriend.
RTDs writing hasn't changed at all since the 2000s. It's just now he's not casting straight white men as the Doctor and using fan favourite villains.
Tennant will return as a human companion to Doctor Billie, thus closing the NuWho loop.
It's not happening, they've got no funding from Disney who have pulled out, and Bad Wolf studios are booked up for the next 2 years.
They won't make a new series, but if they do make anything, it won't air for a minimum of three years from now.
Swear this guy must be a nonce. Amount of times he has been rumoured then turns out not to be him.
The left don't even know who the right wing are anymore. They think it's people like Joe Rogan, as opposed to Peter Hitchens(who would throw Joe Rogan in prison for drug possession).
Why didn't the Rani just ask 14 to impregnate her?
He seemed far more eager to settle down and take time off
Just watched the episode, immediate thoughts
they really just introduced Indian Rani and made a big deal out of her also bi-generating just to have her get eaten after a couple of episodes, the fuck?
Omega being some zombie monster just because the setting and other monsters in the episode were already bone-themed is really fucking lame, hype killing and lazy
it's genuinely surprising to me they had it where Conrad was treated symapthetically, got a good ending and even though he was le evil alt-right chud man they construed his tradcon wish world as actually having good intentions behind it - didn't think RTD was capable of that after all the 'planet of the incels' gigawoke bullshit so far
why the fuck did the whole Poppy thing turn into such a massive plot point after just one episode? That felt really strange and out of nowhere and was totally just RTD trolling the audience with yet another red herring since it turned out to have fuck all to do with the Susan subplot just like the Susan Twist shit last time (the scene of Ruby watching Poppy disappear and being the only one to remember her was actually pretty well done/well acted though although it wasundone right after)
13's appearance was actually a legit highlight of the episode and was totally done by RTD just to try to redeem fans' impression of the character by having her have a chance to be more Doctor-like and have more of a send-off; though hilariously this contrasts with 15 and makes it more apparent how not Doctor-ish he was
the rumors of him regenerating after just 2 short seasons and he turns into Billie Piper are actually true wtf lmao this show is truly dead unless they severely course correct after the Christmas special somehow
also where were you when you realised the reason why they never had Shooty encounter the Daleks or The Master is 100% because having a black Doctor calling some guy Master and having the Daleks doing their usual space nazi spiel to him would be too le problematic?
Be RTD:
*Villain creates evil wish world where women settle down after getting married to take care of kids
Also RTD
*Belinda stops her adventures with the Doctor because she has settle down after getting a baby
RTD is very sexist the way he treats women. Amy being forced to settle down with Rory in the past was a tragic end for her character. Moffat wrote as a sad ending. RTD treats like a gracious ending.
Firefox on mobile has adblock. So does Brave.
He stopped scraping good wilderness years writers, and started giving giving jobs to people whose credentials are things like political books for children. That's an issue.
RTDs writing hasn't changed at all since the 2000s.
If you cannot tell the difference in quality between Parting of the Ways and last night's abomination, you'er hopeless.
Disney won’t renew. Everyone can see what a mess this is. RTD might be able to convince one of his Oxford chums at the Beeb to give him a few more specials, but that’s about it. The show’s pretty much dead.
RTD brough the show back in 2005. That is why people say RTD2 to distinguish him coming back. You are going to get people that say RTD1 was never good or that Moffat (his successor) was always better, but pretty much everyone (and not just here) thinks RTD2 and especially the finale was bad. Probably worth saying as I imagine some other anon will otherwise, a lot of RTD1 was wrote by Moffat or was just taking stuff from extended media (novels, audio dramas).
still in charge
Honestly there is that much wrong with the show within itself and behind the scenes, even before RTD2, it is probably not salvageable from this point. There is a whole debate /who/ has had about soft and hard rebooting it, with the issues inherent in either option.
Realities/Timelines
It is just canon but, there has been that much new stuff added or retcons that have made it an absolute mess.
um Timelords are infertile sweetie
you'er
SAAAAAAAARRRRR
Why does old Rani have meta powers that could speak to the viewer but new Rani didn't?
Rusty can't resist writing mums as awful people.
What was that DNA bomb they kept talking about? Some more obscure OldWho thing RTD expects everyone to know l?
Evidently he disliked his own mother so much that he ended up disliking all women
This. Any new production partner will want more creative control, especially after the poor ratings and reception of RTD2. I think Russel might have fucked himself with the Billie casting. It's gonna be harder to find a new partner now
so how long did the gay doctor Last I feel like it was just yesterday he was announced
Watched few episodes of female doctor, couple of years ago and stopped there.
Better than Chibnall is not a massive accomplishment.
Yes, the main problem is the hamfisted messaging, but it's a REALLY big problem because often RTD will write around Doctor's proper characterization to put the message across, derailing things that were going okay-ish. Dot & Bubble Doctor not even trying to save the raycists. Him having such a massive crush on a random guy he met it puts his companion in danger in Rogue.
Another issue is that while Gatwa has an idea in his head of this flamboyant happy Doctor it felt like RTD himself didn't really know wtf he was doing. The constant crying made this incartion feel bipolar.
Another issue is that despite the fact that the seasons are very short with 8 episodes RTD still somehow manages to put Love & Monsters / Fear Her type filler in there. Space Babies, the half assed Devil's Chord episode (that had potential, it had a good villain perfomance), The Story & The Engine, Now the latter two are not horrendous, at least in my opinion, but they still fill like filler which is bad when your show is already short. He mostly fails to pull off memorable Monster-of-the-Week stuff.
And of course the way he completely shits the bed in both finales. And while Empire of Death is excusable as a misstep, Reality War is a fucking regeneration story. Fucking that up is completely embarassing. Sure, it's a mess that is possible to fix / retcon relatively easily, but the episode still sucks, especially considering Rusty didn't even wrap up every storyline, leaving his mystery boxes lying around without actually being sure if that shit gets renewed or not.
My favorite was Rian Johnson's Glass Onion where the biggest streamer in the world was a right-wing dude bro lol
I agree but Amy loved Rory though and she chooses to sacrifice herself because of that love. What would be worse is the Doctor dumped her to where Rory was against her will which is the equivalent to what this doctor did
Why is it that the right can write left-wingers
give one example of when this has ever actually been the case and not a strawman? Rightoid media isn't any better
The Spy Master used a DNA bomb to destroy Gallifrey in the 13th Doctor era
Rusty can't resist writing mums as awful people.
it's just a quirk of RTD's personal life experiences
i thought it was weird how RTD always made the "doctor meets the companion's family" scenes so confrontational and combative, but then i realized he's just writing from personal experience
if i were a 2m tall bit weird gay man, i'd probably get some very negative reactions from parents if their son brought me home, especially if he's younger
RTD has probably internalized those negative reactions from parents as the standard for how that interaction goes
That thing The Master did in The Timeless Children was the genetic bomb
Isn't the biggest streamer in the world right now Asmongold? He isn't a "chud chud" but he fits the description of some anti-woke dudebro. Although I think in Glass Onion it was an Andrew Tate type character.
biggest streamer in the world is either ishowspeed or Kai Cenat. Probably ishowspeed
What a crap list.
Blink
Fine, but it's so overrated. It's not the best. It's living on its reputation. It stood out at the time amongst the usual RTD silliness but time allows us to see it more modestly.
Heaven Sent
Should be #1. Boring opinion but this really is better than anything else in nuWho and possibly Classic too. Only drawback is whether you consider the Doctor OOC for going through that for Clara but whatever. It's great.
Forest of the Dead/Silence in the Library
Good, but I always thought that like Blink, it's carried by a great new monster as opposed to being genuinely great. The scenes in the computer matrix or whatever are very boring, and it lacks the truly great atmosphere of the best of Classic. Tone just slightly off. But still good.
Vincent and the Doctor
Normies like this one because of the ending where they show van Gogh he was appreciated after all. Dumb, twee, sentimental crap. The rest of the episode is okay actually, but I hate that ending.
The Day of the Doctor
If it wasn't the 50th no one would care. And it is the 50th, so it's underwhelming for the occasion. It's pretty mediocre.
The Girl in the Fireplace
This one I unambiguously like. Peak Moffat before he had the leash taken off him. But some silly stuff and RTD editing brings it down to being good rather than great. Doesn't feel 'epic' enough and it's a bit too Tennant-y.
Army of Ghosts/Doomsday
I don't care about Rose that much. The big battle is stupid CGI slop. As is the case with much of RTD1, it prioritises hype at the time over lasting quality. Why is here twice?
Human Nature/The Family of Blood
Actually great. You can tell this is a story predating the revival because it's an actually interesting idea. I just wish they'd done it with another Doctor, although Tennant makes it work well enough. Should probably be top 5.
That's not what the numbers say
I'll let you in on a secret anon, you didn't even realize it was """rightoid media""" because right-wingers are just normal people
They think everyone who isn't them is the right wing, and what they are is an ever shrinking club, that keeps kicking people out for not being on board with their latest nonsense.
You'd think they would get it by now, but no apparently.
The "new right" is largely just disaffected poor people who "just don't like all that weird stuff", which is to say traditional left wing demographics.
True right wingers (ie remnants of old aristocracy, and Bible thumpers) basically amounts to people like Peter Hitchens, as I said earlier. More or less completely irrelevant dinosaurs who are still banging on about wacky backy and people not wearing suits to the shops anymore, as if anyone gives a shit.
How old are you then? Forty? Forty five? What, did you find him on the Internet? Did you go online and pretend you're a Doctor Who screenwriter?
I am a Doctor Who screenwriter.
Prove it. Retcon this, mate! *WHACK!*
Tyler was kinda nasty but she had her charms.
Martha's mom is just passive aggressive to Martha, she not the best but we don't see enough of her to dislike
Donna's mom is a pretty normal woman and her husband is the best side character in nu who history.
trans Doctor
Roach King has no political opinions. He's in favor of trannies, he's in favor of just about any leftist talking point. It's just occasionally he'll say something like
i dunno bro. a black snow white, i think Disney just does it for clicks
And then his clip channel uploads
IS THIS THE END OF WOKE DISNEY????
So leftoids get ragebaited.
Him having such a massive crush on a random guy he met it puts his companion in danger in Rogue
In all fairness, RTD wrote 10 in the exact same fucking way like in Girl In The Fireplace for example where Rose is trapped on a ship about to be dissected while 10 is fucking around with said fireplace girl
RTD has always written The Doctor as some swashbuckling horndog romantic hero getting himself involved in soap opera bullshit it's just that you didn't notice it before because it was heterosexual
this is why Moffat mogs RTD btw because he actually writes The Doctor like he's supposed to be as an alien hero in a sci-fi action adventure show and not some heartthrob in space East Enders
This is an adorably quaint early 2010s way of seeing the world
Tharries, the little wheelchair fella shill, newest video is titled "Doctor Who has jumped the shark", with a thumbnail of Billie
Oh no no no Russel has even lost the shills
Weird thing is that he does speak pretty fondly of his mother in interviews.
Eh, only Sylvia is really written badly. Jackie and Martha's mother started off antagonistic but over time he showed them to be motivated by good intentions and ultimately quite fair in their dealings with the Doctor.
Oh, I didn't watch past the first season of 13th. I rejoined on the Tennant specials because I heard it was a reboot for new viewers, but it turns out you're expected to have seen everything to understand what's going on anyway.
I remember leftist friends deciding to burn JK Rowling at the stake for literally saying "I have trans friends but trans women aren't women"
They took that and started memeing her as some genocidal maniac who hates all trannies lol.
I told them then and I tell them now, Rowling used to be considered quite left wing just 15 years ago. Anyone on the left who thinks they won't be lynched when the modern left becomes too radical for them is in for a nasty surprise.
Normies like this one because of the ending where they show van Gogh he was appreciated after all. Dumb, twee, sentimental crap. The rest of the episode is okay actually, but I hate that ending.
I thought Tony Curran put in a great performance. Shame about the invisible chicken and dumb pop song.
current year and he still doesn't know the difference between centrism and leftism
Yikes
wtf are you talking about Asmong is a fully bought in orange man simp and 75% of all his content now is the same culture war react andy slop as the rest of them, just because some retard keeps calling themselves a le centrist doesn't actually mean they are
all those chud grifters are the exact same slop and they always trot out the exact same le centrist defence despite agreeing with MAGAtards on 99% of everything and never criticizing orange man or the right ever. If you don't notice the grift for what it actually is you're legit retarded
Faffing about on Galifrey trying to save a really mid companion from an actually good death scene?
link?
That woman was a conservative lib, she was never a leftist. She wrote Harry to uphold the establishment that discriminated against other including himself. His god father's wearwolf-ism was a metaphor for aids, jew goblins run their banks, and Dobby race wanting freedom is seen as a silly dumb thing.
Hell Bent > All of Chibnall's and Russell's finales.
Amy’s mom got overshadowed by her father Danny DeVito
Live Xoanon Reaction
Nonsense. Great representation = bigger ratings and sales. Everyone knows that.
fuck it, im making my own Doctor Who
have fun
modern-day current year right-wingers are definitely NOT normal people. Sure, maybe 10 years ago the right-wing were just vaguely conservative people annoyed at SJWs shitting their hobbies up but nowadays these people are on Twitter celebrating people killing themselves, unironically nazi posting and shit. Nowadays the mainstream right-wing has gone full Anon Babbletard and is off the deep end as much as leftoids are
if you think that's normal then you're brainrotted by years of reactionary bullshit and don't even realize what's happened to you
It's the truth. If you think Joe Rogan is a right winger, you've lost the plot.
Even Trump isn't, really.
Is it me or was their explanation for this very offensive? “He’s not handicapped so he doesn’t see us.” Seems awfully damning of non-disabled allies.
IDK man, facing Omega, the matrix, the genesis of the daleks and the Valeyard were all pretty cool. 4th can easily take on any modern Doctor, even tenth.
I would argue that Cappaldi is actually pretty good and Michelle Gomez was a great master. True enough rushing the quest for Gallifrey was a blunder and that hybrid shit left a lot to be desired but that´s where i´d actually make the cut. I mean, at least it´s an ending.
Last Capaldi season was a disaster. For starters Bill was a terrible companion with no personality whatsoever except for being black and gay. That´s literally the only thing she talks about as if it was something special and the show had never had gay and black characters before and then she gets turned into a cyberman, namely a white drone. While that was cheaply amusing i´d have much prefer it if the Doctor had had an actual companion. Go back and save Osgood or just travel with Missy or something like that.
The real problem of that season is actually how aimless everything is. Say what you will about the quest for Gallifrey but at least it replaced the time war as an overarching plot and something to look forward to. And then the Chibs/Withaker era started which was not only aimless but political and boring. And then they "fixed" that by connecting with the actual show´s lore and retconning everything in the worst possible ways.
I mean, seriously, at that point they were already actively destroying the show. You can´t produce something that bad by accident. I refuse to believe that´s possible. And then they doubled down by involving Disney. It is honestly amazing how they keep finding new lows and ways to disgust us, i´ll give them that.
Anon Babble shitposting culture caught on on Twitter
So, that's "the right wing" to you?
Just people being vaguely mean? People doing edgy humour that would have been South Park territory back in the 90's?
This
SJWs
What’s that?
Honestly, even as a kid Hermione being made fun of for wanting to end House Elf slavery didn't sit well with me.
newfag
they're not shitposting, they believe it unironically. Facebook turned all the boomer conservatives into kool-aid drinking Alex Jones tier retards and all the dumbfuck zoomer chuds believe Anon Babble shitposting wholeheartedly without any irony
the other day I walked past some zoomer kids and overheard them saying 'based right-wing' or something and couldn't believe my ears
we are 'cooked' as they say fr
Capaldi's last season is a highmark of Nuwho. It's a nice nod to the classical style of Doctors. Bill is fine. The entire point of the season is the Doctor's complex relationship with Missy and attempt to make her a potential companion. So Bill fits in as a weaker personality to that.
The finale is legitimately the best finale and regeneration episode the show has ever done. Best Cybermen story as well and arguably the best Master story.
I don't like these unflattering closeups of the people in dot & bubble
what a stupid moron, he shouldn't be a writer
why was the tardis in this room
>Human Nature/The Family of Blood
Actually great. You can tell this is a story predating the revival because it's an actually interesting idea. I just wish they'd done it with another Doctor, although Tennant makes it work well enough. Should probably be top 5.
I should probably rewatch these as I remember them being one my favourite stories at the time.
Out of interest which doctor would you have liked it being? I think Eccles would have been great.
