Tarantino was standing up for the forgotten heroes of hollywood, the stunt men who were quickly used up and then unceremoniously thrown out on their asses. The writing in this scene is so bad. This a professional writer with 30 years in the industry, renowned filmmaker, and the dialogue just sounds like unnatural, non-characterized rambling of the writer's direct thoughts.

I think this was Tarantino personal feelings, whatever they are, over his obligation to the movie. He clearly wanted to show Lee as a fake and losing, did some research and discovered what everyone does, that yes there was some exageration but the guy was good and still has a lot of credit from people of his time, and also inspired tons of other people specially in martial arts. I knew a guy who admired Lee for his philosophical teachings which may sound shallow in this post Facebook Motivational Memes world but was very powerful a few decades ago. No matter how good you are at writting dialogue we can always spot when the writer is winning arguments in the shower.
