I watched The Brain of Morbius for the first time recently and enjoyed it. Everyone brings up the faces that appear during the mind bending contest yet it makes perfect sense that it'd just be Morbius' previous incarnations. The man was already needing a new body, what's wrong with having him used up all his regenerations? They did it with the Master in The Deadly Assassin. Been rewatching Matt Smith Doctor, both Season 5 and 6 had so many banger episodes. Some middling ones but nothing too terrible. And I actually enjoy the overarching plot.

Moffat did have the Doctor ring up the care home to find the Brig had died, had an emotional moment realising everyone's time runs out which spurred him to go towards his "death" in season 6.
I don't mind that so much because you really have to pause at the right time to get that glimpse. It might not even be the creature's real appearance versus just having a good looking stand in.

I've heard that's what their intentions were and, well, fair enough. The fact it is never brought up again means there's a bit more leeway for explaining it. JNT made it so that Hartnell was explicitly the first during the Five Doctors and that makes perfect sense to me. The whole idea of there being previous Doctors before Hartnell just doesn't work, especially with the Timeless Child. It strips away that idea that the Doctor became someone special through his own actions and motivations, by deliberately choosing to leave Galifrey and wander the Universe. Apparently not, he was born special and is the blueprint of Time Lord society. Sure, there was The Other, but that was an idea from the extended universe that never got explored in much detail, so it was easier to gloss over and explain away.

There was something about the body being built by Morbius' robot servant. The rewrites happened, namely removing the robot, as it got designated that the serial be a cheap / bottle story so the budget could be allocated elsewhere.
Flux was fun/interesting/ambitious, but it was like watching a Classic serial because the quality wasn't consistent.
I can't say I've enjoyed anything else besides Power Of The Doctor, and even that was ruined by the regeneration at the end plus no payoff or fan service whatsoever for the 13/Yaz shippers.
