How fucking stupid do you have to be to think this is a “humans vs aliens fighting for survival movie”? It’s blatantly obvious it’s another generic “capitalism bad movie.” There are humans that work with the Na’vi.
How fucking stupid do you have to be to think this is a “humans vs aliens fighting for survival movie”...
more like nature worship which pushes the green eco-commie, de-pop & race-mixing agenda.
It's a remake of Dances with Wolves in space and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
When can I get my avatar to start racemixing?
capitalism bad
technology bad
Yet Cameron is the most capitalistic, tech-obsessed director in Hollywood. Such a weird little fucker, he is.
kek anyone remember some retards literally killing themselves in the hopes they would reincarnate as a navi back when avatar came out
Don’t care. Jake is hot.
even still, it’s a huge reach from whatever retard made this giant wall of text thinking the movie is anything beyond capitalism bad.
It’s not a remake; it simply shares the same trope of main character switching sides. That said, there was literally no way to tell the story without using that trope. How else do you tell a story about aliens without having a human join them? It could have been just aliens versus humans, but that would lack the nuance. Jake Sully, as the audience surrogate, had to be a fish out of water to help us relate to the world of the Na’vi.
capitalism is the reason why you have endless woke shit and yet you sit here defending it
Dances with Wolves
Dances with Wolves didn't have those sunbed things that turn you into an Indian/alien.
stop being autistic
the whole point is that he's US military like kevin kline at the beginning of dances with wolves but sympathizes with the natives as the story goes along
have media literacy
it tells me this is a noble savage story where unga bunga overcome machineguns and mecha because they're the goodguys, not because they're actually superior and the plot doesn't matter
depop & racemixing
This film is from before then.
The story is literally anti-human escapism, "I wish I was cool and unique and super powered and not a human and then I get to beat up humans who were mean to me when I was at school". You could say it's at most anti-white, pro-injun but there's 100% no racemixing and 100% no big reset, both of which would ruin the fantasy.
Don't care about any of that either way. I just want my own Neytiri (as a human, the avatar shit is gay and lame)
capitalism
Nope. Trading goods for services is fine. The movie jabs at jewish industrial pollution dumping poison into the ocean to make disposable iPhone chargers. This can only happen when corporations control and monopolize the government like they do now. Wtf does this have to do with capitalism? The navi literally engage in capitalism and trade goods for services like Jake had to become a hunter for the seamen to pay rent…
None is stupid because none thinks about these movies at all. Zero cultural relevancy.
inb4 the box office faggots arrive
Before the movie even came out, I saw the trailers for it and immediately started calling it "Dances With the Last Fern Gully Avatar." Even back in 2009 my teenage brain thought
Wow, ANOTHER movie where a white guy teams up with the angelic natives to fight his own people?
literally everyone was saying this. it was the default criticism / observation
This film is from before then
Just because you were a small child who didn't comprehend anything doesn't mean this stuff hasn't been pushed since the 1960's. It may have become increasingly more common after 2012, but this shit has been an agenda for 60 years now.
No, I was the only one calling it "Dances With the Last Fern Gully Avatar." Some people called it "Dances with Aliens" or some other combo of two films but I came up with the full title and I take full credit for it.
i remember when i first saw the trailer in theaters and i turned to my sister and we both said in unison “wow, Dances with the Last Fern Gully Avatar” and then we kissed on the lips
stop being autistic
Why would I even watch Dances With Wolves.
It doesn't even have mechsuits. Neither does Pocahontas or Ferngully for that matter.
So if you found a pristine paradise world where there's a global entity protecting all life so it can live perpetually, you'd flood it with billions of immigrants, strip mine everything, plop out mountains of plastic waste, kill of Eywa, or else it's 'le betraying humanity and racemixing'? You're dumb, bro. Not everything needs to be ruined as fast as possible for a buck. The reality is rich people would see what Jake did, fly to Pandora and demand to be made immortal gigachads to live in paradise too.
This film is from before then.
It's cute you think this was only going on recently.
The reality is rich people would see what Jake did, fly to Pandora and demand to be made immortal gigachads to live in paradise too.
Good take on the material. Place would be swarmed with tourists in NaVi skinsuits. They'd claim they wanted to live the authentic native experience, but would be unable to leave behind all their disgusting human ways and habits.
Avatar is pure kino and that's all you need know
I happend to have rewatched this movie for the first time since I was a child just this week.
I noticed its themes and imagery was less subtle than I remember, like hitting the audience over the head levels. I wondered if native Americans got mad at the Na' vi whooping and hollaring like them? Most importantly, Neytiri is literally built for human penis.
Either way, it’s still a stretch to say it’s a simple “humans vs aliens” movie and some greedy corporation is representative of all humanity. It’d be like saying being anti blackrock or black water is anti human.
you have to defend corporations now under any circumstance or else you’re a faggy democrat communist
I really wanted more of the cyberpunk Earth. Far too short
Avatar is pure kino and that's all you need know
Based
If you take the world as the fantasy world it's shown as rather than an allegory for real world bullshit, it makes absolute sense to engage in nature worship.
The Navi can upload their dead into trees and talk to them. They can literally commune with nature, mind link with animals, and rally an army of space tigers to attack their enemies.
The wealth of their planet is in the unique biology, not the unobtanium.
The doctor lady tries to convince the money bugs and the jarheads that the trees aren't just trees, and the aliens aren't just space indians, but nobody listens to her.
This fundamental difference is critical to the plot and makes real world allegories meaningless.
criticizes Pfizer or Disney once
the extended version greatly extends the opening more than anything else, what is 3 minutes in the theatrical is about 25 minutes in that version and it’s all poorly written and super generic.
It's not so much technology bad as mass industrialization destroying the environment bad.
Except that James Cameron literally personally believes in the Gaia Hypothesis cult, i.e. that Earth is a singular sentient being and will eventually make moves to exterminate humanity to defend itself if we don't reform (and that's a good thing)
That shit is scrawled all over the original 1995 script, he actually toned it down in later revisions
There’s race mixing in the artificial alien human hybrids and the natural aliens. Creating artificial alien hybrids called demons. Did you not watch the movie?
The movie jabs at jewish industrial pollution dumping poison into the ocean to make disposable iPhone chargers. This can only happen when corporations control and monopolize the government like they do now. Wtf does this have to do with capitalism?
Yeah, that's called capitalism. Just because you call it jewish doesn't make it not capitalism. Greed is the core principal of capitalism, you just associate greed with jews. Corps in Japan do the same bullshit even though they have no jews.
And the corps buying the fucking government makes it even more capitalism. The market was so free the government was up for sale.
When we talk about capitalism being bad we're not talking about the base concept of trading money for goods and services. Everyone agrees that's fine. We're talking about corporate domination of the system.
Corps in Japan do the same bullshit
Japan's economy has not grown a single iota in thirty years
In fact they are slightly smaller and poorer right now than they were in 1995, in spite of the same timespan seeing the US grow 262% and the Chinese economy grow 2,327%
Why should anyone take your opinion about anything seriously when you didn't know a fact that simple? Does this knowledge even alter your worldview, or have you immediately accepted it and used it to prove yourself even MORE right?
Cool irrelevant statement bro.
I remember reading about people remembering this but I’m pretty sure it never actually happened. I was only 17 when it came out though so wtf do I know
You LITERALLY cited Japan, specifically, as an example of infinite capitalist growth being a cancer
You are a fucking idiot and you can't walk that back
you now remember avatar 2
The good guy lost
So Japan having the 4th largest economy in the world isn't good enough for you? That's not capitalist enough?
You're focusing too much on the image I posted. I just grabbed something from my images folder with the word capitalism in it. Here, have a different one.
colonization has always existed the only difference is now we have cameras and the internet
It’s naive to think that if we ever did discover sentient life the first thing humanity wouldn’t do is to either kill it or fuck it
They tell you at the start of the movie that this whole Pandora operation is corporate.
The soldiers are former military now working as mercs for some company.
It's not Navi vs Humanity. It's Navi vs Some human corporation that decided to bulldoze their planet.
Jake also smugly boasts that humanity will go extinct at the end of the movie in a bizarre move that really makes him hataeable
guys the elites at the top who benefit from this corrupt system will totally share immortal goo and other spoils of war to the rest of the population
At a certain point you have to understand that these people are cuckolds.
Which really makes you wonder if anyone who posts these human supremacist edits even watched the movie to begin with. The movie could not be more on the nose on what it’s about.
They even had the corpo manager guy doing the office putting green into a coffee cup thing.
25 minutes, wow I'll have to check that out. Maybe there'll be more Earth in the last sequels
I hate that image macro too, but the one thing that bothered me about Avatar the movie as presented is that the Colonel is actually good to Jake. He clearly likes him, respects him, cares about him, and Jake doesn't even display a moment's hesitation or internal turmoil about betraying him. That's not how people work; I think of Reservoir Dogs or Donnie Brasco. You can undermine and betray an evil son of a bitch that thinks you're his friend, even tell yourself it's objectively the right thing, it's necessary, but if you're a human being you don't feel good about it, proud of it.
The last conversation Jake and Quaritch have before everything goes to shit is Quaritch visibly happy about Jake's spine surgery being approved. All of this stuff is of course consciously scripted so I wonder why they put that humanizing moment in for Quaritch and then don't address it at all from Jake's side.
They do. They show Jake happily fulfilling his mission gathering intel for Quaritch. They show the other scientists uneasyness seeing Jake so buddy buddy with the military, then plotting to get away from the base and more out into the jungle. Jake's video logs show him stray further and further towards the natives and he says confusedly and tired that the avatar has become the real life and his human body the simulation. By the time Quaritch gets the spine approved, Jake doesn't care about it anymore or his military mission. He views that mission as destroying his happy new life
