#
Reggie Nalder plays one of the most disgusting men of all time in that, you really believe he means it. Classic performance.

Nah, more like The Substance and Titane.

thanks. i might watch Mother of Tears tonight

Comparing it to The Substance is surface level.

Prepare for kino.

Substance is not even a horror flick

Shut up retard.

Horror as a genre has so many more unwatchable piece of shit movies

Sturgeon's Law. People also simply engage differently with horror compared to any other genre. Some don't like it when they're too scary or gross, others only care about how scared they were and hate it when they don't get what they felt they were promised and that also factors into how they rate it afterwards. It's rarely strictly about the actual quality of how well made and acted something was.

How would you rank the Final Destination films /hor/?

1 > 5 > 6 = 2 > 3 > 4

brec.jpg - 1041x654, 141.78K

he objectively right though.

You're objectively a faggot.

says the one posting buck teeth tranny shit LMAO

May and The Substance and American Mary are in a similar vein but there's a lot of Aesthetics First horror
Helter Skelter (2012) is probably closest

I live

When was the last time you watched wicker man?

Kino

Wicker? I hardly know her!

3 > 1 > 2 > 5 > 4

6 somewhere near 2

1>3>2>4>5

he was especially creepy in the first one. after that he gets a bit funny with how much he threatens people, only to get stabbed or burnt up again.

anti-Catholic movie

Gee I wonder which Steinberg greenlit this flick

Burgers are weird. They hate Catholics but import them by the millions...

The Vice President is Catholic.

Isn't he married with a Hindu?

Now do one but for jews

One hour into Final Exam

The only slashing has been in the first 5 minutes

what the fuck lmao

tfw actual euro catholic and have no problem with the movie

This is why a focus on mere confession and proselytes will expand your community without grace

The end makes up for it.

actual euro catholic and have no problem with the movie

Weird flex but okay

Antiviral was fun once I watched it. Still haven't seen Possessor but it was the one everyone shilled when I liked Infinity Pool

import them by the millions...

the only people the US has been importing has been redeemers and dust farmers

Yeah, he's a curry stirrer and also responsible for Hillbilly Elegy.

IMG_1941.jpg - 2496x3744, 437.13K

basically wins at the beginning of the first movie

spends the next 3 blowing it by trying to cuck his brother

I disagree. At the heart of both is a female director with a female vision of body horror. May and Der Fan were both directed by men.

also responsible for Hillbilly Elegy.

We have a Anon Babble President and a Anon Babble Vice President. Pretty cool.

Yeah it's baby Cronenbergs best. Actually great film, maybe not in it's entirety, but in it's peaks.

I'm watching Infinity Pool next. I expect it to include even more body horror than the previous two.

Reminder that Roger Ebert gave this 4 stars which was his highest score he could award a film

Another fun fact is that the only movie he ever gave 0 stars to was The Human Centipede because he thought it was unratable:

"It's not death itself that's so bad. It's what you might have to go through to get there. No horror film I've seen inflicts more terrible things on its victims than The Human Centipede. You would have to be very brave to choose this ordeal over simply being murdered. Maybe you'd need to also be insane...

"I am required to award stars to movies I review. This time, I refuse to do it. The star rating system is unsuited to this film. Is the movie good? Is it bad? Does it matter? It is what it is and occupies a world where the stars don't shine."

Much of this battle takes place in midtown Manhattan, where the neatest sequences involve Loki’s ginormous slithering, undulating snake-lizard-dragon machine, which seems almost to have a mind of its own and is backed up by countless snakelings. At one point, an Avenger flies into the mouth of this leviathan and penetrates its entire length, emerging at the business end. You won’t see that in “The Human Centipede.”

Mexico is 77% Catholic

His opinion on horror is worthless. He was a stuck up pearl clutching douche.

do people really take his work seriously?

And people say we don't need a horror general lol. Come on now, look at all the discussion in this thread already. /hor/ ain't going anywhere.

"Psycho killer character studies" was apparently a rare horror subgenre he enjoyed, since he rated both Henry and May highly.

When I was a kid I liked his show just because I lived in the middle of nowhere and that's really the only time I ever got to hear about movies.

It's just weird seeing people trying to white knight you against something that's really not that offensive. Verhoeven makes moral satire and criticism movies all the time, encouraging him to not use his conscience in the case of Catholics is just bizarre

it's almost like the anon bitching in the last thread only spurred more discussion

i am the only catholic in this thread

For anyone interested, this is the classic "Women in Danger" episode of Siskel and Ebert's Sneak Previews in which they do nothing but cry and clutch their pearls about horror movies, it's a highly amusing watch
youtu.be/BpdCOyXV4Oo

And this is just clips of them trashing various horror movies, their outrage over The Hitcher is absolutely hilarious
youtube.com/watch?v=7MBkh_xEiMM

It's more of a neat gimmick and a drug montage. I'd say less body horror than Antiviral at least because most of the freaky shit is in the drug montage.

Infinity Pool is more of a "psychos tormenting people" movie like Last House on the Left or Devil's Rejects than it is body horror.

it's over. you'll be watching poopyfarter vs giant lizard next

Trying to pretend benedetta drove you further from grace

If it did, I think that was you and your choices

Does anyone have a link to watch Poopyfarter vs Giant Lizard

muh liberated waman

kek

I would sell my soul to Pazuzu for Godzilla vs Art.

its on tubi for free directed by shawn c phillips

thought I downloaded the 2018 movie truth or dare but instead the file had the 2017 syfy movie of the same name. From what I gather I lucked out since the the 2018 one somehow looks worse than the shitty tv flick

strawman after strawman

Yeah but it does still have the sci-fi gimmick of a lot of old movies that are kind of proto body horror have. It does follow the kind of Twilight Zone/Black Mirror old horror convention of

New magical technology exists and its horrendous consequences

More than just pure psychos/body horror

looks trans in this pic

Why was the Galaxy Quest thread hidden? That's a good movie.

No the church didn't confirm me by making me say the baptismal vows for myself

Ok heathen

imagine if pennywise was airsoftfatty doing his gilbert gottfried voice

You need to take tour meds

damn I remember that America used to be racist as shit in the 60s

Art vs Kolobos or bust .
they both disfigure women in their spare time.

Recommend pre-60s movies that are actually kind of creepy like picrel and Nosferatu.
I've enjoyed stuff like the Universal Monsters movies but they're not very creepy.

why no good big budget horrors come out in spring

Thank you anon.

STRAIGHT OUT THE FUCKIN' DUNGEONS OF RAP

Yeah Galaxy Quest is kino. It's likely the sperg that originally posted that screenshot had it filtered because OP referenced Star Trek.

It Came From Outer Space is Universal But I've always found it pretty creepy.

I see it.

I think they're using crispr gene editing for all these bug eyed actresses. That isn't something that happens naturally.

I've been shilling Red Rooms this whole time so careful…

Thank you anon.

I can't find it so have this instead.

From the thumbnail, the left girl looks like a head shooped over a bird body.

It's the guy with the umbrella leg for me

Technically, neither of them exist. Both have always been Canadian figments of our collective imagination.

Pearl cluthing

That's not quite true or rather it was true once upon a time. This is another paragraph from his review of The Human Centipede:

I have long attempted to take a generic approach. In other words, is a film true to its genre and does it deliver what its audiences presumably expect? “The Human Centipede” scores high on this scale. It is depraved and disgusting enough to satisfy the most demanding midnight movie fan. And it’s not simply an exploitation film.

Also Ebert apparently liked The Devil's Rejects enough to give it 3 stars even though it features sexual violence towards women:

Here is a gaudy vomitorium of a movie, violent, nauseating and really a pretty good example of its genre. If you are a hardened horror movie fan capable of appreciating skill and wit in the service of the deliberately disgusting, The Devil's Rejects may exercise a certain strange charm.

Siskel was notoriously harsh on horror movies for the most part and this probably rubbed off on Ebert a little especially since the 70s and 80s were the decades when horror movies became increasingly more violent and gory which was in stark contrast to the Dracula and Frankenstein movies their generation grew up with but it seems that in later years they became more accustomed to it like the MPAA did eventually.

For example both of them loved the original Halloween but hated OG Friday the 13th which took after A Bay of Blood instead of Black Christmas when it came to the level of violence. Weirdly enough though Siskel actually loved Cronenberg's The Fly and even wanted Goldblum to win an Oscar for his performance.

no sex scene for the cutest girl

Fuck off

Horror is a pornographic genre. It's mean to cause a visceral and shocking psychosexual reaction in your brain and play with your chemicals. No wonder the audiovisual mediums are the best at it. They are the best ways of control as well. If you enjoy horror games and movies you'd probably enjoy being sodomized as well.

oh look who came back

No wonder the audiovisual mediums are the best at it.

Literature is the best format for horror tho

lol no

How do they jumpscare you in a book? Capital letters?

NTA and you probably won't count this but manga is fantastic at jumpscares.
They build the tension on the prior pages then you turn the page and boom, u get spooked.

I can respect that but nothing beats a great horror.
