Anyway, I’m readin’ about the behind-the-scenes stuff, right. And there’s this bit about the young lass who played Rhaenyra. Y’know, the young version, not the older one. She’s got this intense stare, like she’s always in a mood. But apparently she blew everyone away. Like, the crew were sayin’ she was somethin’ else. Said she just had this presence about her.
So I started readin’ up on her. Thought, who’s this actress then, where’s she come from. Couldn’t find much. No interviews. And that’s when I saw this thing. Tiny article, one of them weird entertainment sites. Said there’d been a few odd goings-on during the filmin’.
People on set had started noticin’ stuff, right. Like, apparently she never really spoke between takes. Just sort of sat there, swingin’ her legs off the throne. Wouldn’t go near the catering van. Only touched fruit. Mainly bananas.
And there was this one day, right, where the director shouted cut and she just legged it into the woods. Took ‘em ages to find her. Came back covered in leaves. And everyone was like, oh that’s just her process, she’s really method. But then someone noticed her trailer didn’t even have a toilet in it. Just a tyre swing and a box of grapes.
Now at this point I’m thinkin’, somethin’s not quite right here. Actors are weird, yeah, but this is next level.
So I dig a bit deeper, find this old interview. The director had been on holiday in South America, came back with her, said he’d “found the perfect actress.”

That's a bit reductive. My reading of F&B was that she was frustrated by how much and how obviously Rhaenyra flouted any social or political rule and conventions. The bastard children being the chief example. The book (and show) also touches on the fact that the mere existence of Alicent's children poses a mortal threat to Rhaenyra's future reign.
