As a Supernatural fan when it first debuted in fall 2005, if the series had only been 5 seasons, Buffy wouldn't compare. But yeah it really dragged on though I do have a soft spots for Seasons 6 and 7 because barring some of the shitty episodes, they explored a lot of good plot points.
I stopped watching Supernatural once the angels fell from heaven in Season 8's finale. I was in my freshman year of undergrad and didn't have time to watch TV anymore. Plus the series just wasn't my cup of tea after Season 5. I only continued for 3 more seasons because I wanted to see what would happen next.
Oh I love LaRue. Wayne Pere is a very underrated actor. He was also Mr. Murray in the 2016 Roots where he plays a weak yet somewhat decent slaveowner. Complete 180 from what Victor LaRue was.
I actually think Return of LaRue is the best of the trilogy he's in. Trial was good, but Return was scary how fucking unhinged he truly was and he was VERY close to killing Walker. I mean shit, he literally had Walker on the ropes with those scorpions.
watch Churck Norris beat people up
My biggest gripe is that he rarely faced someone whom he couldn't easily defeat. He really needed a few opponents that outclassed him in skill and size/strength. That's what makes a fight more compelling because the good guy has to really dig deep and even get lucky to beat the bad guy. That's why I can rewatch Jean-Claude van Damme films over and over again because he actually got bloodied.
As for the preacyhness, isn't that a 90's thing? I noticed from watching recorded stuff from that decade there was a ton of PSAs and very special episodes in commercials and shows.
