still the greatest political comedy of our age
Yeah it's pretty good
It wasn't political.
?
Fine, bureaucratic comedy
movie about the succession on the upper echelons of the Soviet Union
not political
Was White House Down a political film?
What's the bad guy's motivation in it?
You're laughing? Stalin and his posse killed MILLIONS and you're laughing?
Yes, Stalin died alone as a victim of his own paranoia. It's only a shame he didn't suffer more
millions of russians died
is that why communists worship Stalin
And 30 million Ukrainians, rabbi.
Ianucci is the great political satirist of our time
too bad he's fallen off insanely hard since this film.
avenue q was unwatchable mutt trash and I didn't even know the franchise was a thing until they announced they were canceling further seasons
I like how Zhukov is presented as a badass that personally defeated Nazi Germany while conveniently ignoring the Lend-Lease thing
Stalins daughter pulling a Tom Hanks was fucking hilarious
WHO HIT MY BROTHER!?
I did, and I enjoyed it. Its been a long time coming
WELL. EVERYONE ELSE NEEDS TO BACK UP
Nikolai Starikov, head of the Russian Great Fatherland Party, called The Death of Stalin an "unfriendly act by the British intellectual class", and part of an "anti-Russian information war".[5] In September 2017, the head of the Public Council of the Russian Ministry of Culture said Russian authorities were considering a ban on the film, alleging that it could be part of a "western plot to destabilise Russia by causing rifts in society".[31] Russian online newspaper Vzglyad called the film "a nasty sendup by outsiders who know nothing of our history".[5] The Communist Party of the Russian Federation called the film "revolting", and Alexander Yushchenko, a spokesman for the party, said it was an attempt to spark discontent.[31]
literally
Hurting the feelings of the Russian people
-tier
>Hurting the feelings of the Russian people
Those same people who live off potatoes and vodka and who are killed en mass in meat wave tactics every time their country goes to war? Yes, we wouldn't want to offend those "free" people
Lol
Lmao even
Not even close
It's literally about politicians doing political stuff
mfw the director even claimed he had to tone down the ridiculousness a little
Is that the reason they were mad? I mean Zhukov wore quite a few more medals in real life.
Over a 1000 russians died during Stalin's funeral while trying to get a glimpse of the body
muh lend leese
That isn't even helping Ukraine win the war right now.
inb4 two more weeks
they truly are chink- tier with the lying and saving face shit lmao, Patton was right about them
this is true wtf
I can't tell whether you're trolling or retarded. Ukraine would've been flattened without western support, let's not kid ourselves
I enjoyed all the jokes about filling in forms.
communism is one hell of a drug
Two more weeks.
If the movie was about JFK getting shot instead his could be twitter post from any of the hysterical retards in the house of representatives
if the movie was about Bella Ramsay starring in The Last Of Us, it could be any post here.
I agree. I personally wish they'd make something with identical tone and intent set in the late roman republic, specifically the decade or so before caesar gets assassinated. It's one of the funniest and most absurd time periods in human history and would slot perfectly with the tone and style of this film
If ifs and buts was candies and nuts, we'd all have a happy Christmas.

he doesn't want to see a movie about Kennedy getting shot and the CIA trying to cover it up that it was one of their men who did it
If it was as good as "Death of Stalin" I'd watch it.
Our age? I forgot, are we back in 1955?
We watched this in my high school Latin class, and I keked when my teacher freaked out and tried to skip past the whorehouse scenes.
Good film. Catchy songs.
Why did this post activate all the bots?
That's retardrd. So you're calling that shit the "greatest political comedy" of your age? How stupid can you be?
We watched this in my high school Latin class
Salve frater! That's where I watched it as well. By chance, were you in my class?
the CIA trying to cover it up that it was one of their men who did it
Executive Action
?
Because you're a card carrying homo, everything is a bot to you.
Nope. Must just be one of those movies they play in Latin classes all over the country.
It's really good, you should watch it
Did you also use the Cambridge stories about the family in Pompeii? The dad was named Caecilius or something.
I didn't see any movies in "latin" clases, it was books. Puella was the first word.
stop noticing things, chud
there are no russian shills itt you fucking mutt xaxaxaxa
its been so long that I can hardly remember, but I'm almost 100% positive this is the book we used
Because you're a card carrying homo, everything is a russian shill to you.
Yeah it's been a while for me too, I don't remember the first. It was serious grade school.
Is that schizo mosaic supposed to be you?
It's everything and they're red card card carrying commie cat!
no, he's quoting you it looks like, or attempting to characterize you as a fat brown creature
Fat brown creature? So am I American or Russian?
Shalom
russian shills are generally fat and brown, yes.
It wasn't a comedy
Could be Mexican, or Abo. There's lots of fat brown creatures
I always said Iannucci should have made a series of "Death of..." movies based on the fallout from significant figures dying. Bring most of the cast back in different roles like the Carry On films but bleak and sweary.
lol imagine the Anon Babblefag tears if a Death of Hitler movie got released. their coping is already off the charts whenever The Fall is mentioned
The Death of Disco
The Death of Smoochy
The Death of Irony
The Soviet Union was the first country to recognize Israel... under orders from Stalin
Gee, I wonder why
and then Israel sided with the US and Stalin started persecuting Jews for completely unrelated reasons
It wasnt a comedy
Stalin literally persecuted any and all religious groups in Russia because he genuinely believed they hid tens of tons of gold relics from him and Soviet Russia was poorfag central
the communist jews who run hollywood lie about everything except communism
lol just tv logic
religion is the opiate of the masses
also because he was a crazy murderous atheist
Taking a risk getting called a libtard/whatever but I feel like the war in Ukraine and subsequent pro Russia shilling completely unbalanced discussions on places like Anon Babble.
I used to remember back when the USSR was called a judeo Bolshevik conspiracy that destroyed the le ebin natzees and that all slabs were subhumans fit for extermination.
Now suddenly everything that has strong ties to Russia like the USSR is slavishly worshipped in a strange fervour to be anti western so you reach this strange place where Russia, the country that obsesses over it's communist past and proudly touts it's victory over Nazism is worshipped as based by Nazis and other assorted right wingers, and also ironically enough leftists
of course he was. My "favorite" tactic of his was getting his glowies to harass priests (who by that point were mostly as poor as the rest of the citizenry) so they had to resort to self-defence. If they fought back, it would be an excuse to kill them all (since they nominally belonged to the Church, they would all be held accountable) for being a danger to the State and take over whatever property they held on to.
I wouldn't say that atheism was the driving force behind his prosecution of religion.
Stalin was a cold calculating bastard who allowed zero dissent or challenge to his power, which religion would be a source of
how much money did he pay his soldiers and goons?
Depends, if you were a poor fuck conscript you would be lucky to get a few rubles a month, assuming it didn't get stolen and/or embezzled by your officers.
Regular soldiers would presumably get paid more but in the USSR the "pay" would probably come in the form of better housing and shit like that, depending on where on the ladder you were
You are correct on the challenge to his power part but let's not pretend communism doesn't require by its very nature to force atheism onto its citizens
The joe-schmoe policemen and cannon fodder? Not much better than the average citizen.
the lucky ones guarding some politician's estate or the Kremlin? these guys are set for life if they don't say the wrong thing at the wrong time
You never really realise how utterly shit life was in the commie utopia, the modern mind can't comprehend it.
I remember learning about that one time they lost most of their Pacific fleet high command because they overstuffed their passenger plane with smuggled western goods like sausages and bog rolls(TP was a luxury)
youtu.be
It's because Anon Babble is retarded, anon. If Hitler came back to life, took over the entire world, and verifiably killed every last Jew, they'd suddenly decide this shit sucks and start posting edgy Obama RETVRN edits.
turns out nationalization and market abolishment doesn't solve the ills of daily life and causes some more, a shocker!
Anon Babble is retarded
and yet, they're always right. this speaks volumes to the level of clown our world is on
Russian.
no they aren't, you're just young and naive
So were they right before 22 February 2022 when the Soviet Union was bad or after 22 February 2022 when the Soviet Union was suddenly good?
nine times out of 10 they are
yes
yes
You are retarded.
always right
I can smell the post 2016 redditoid invader stench through my screen
jeet hate started on Anon Babble
that's very prejudiced and bigoted, dare I say, even racist? you'd feel right at home on Anon Babble
Which is ironic considering the place is now brownoid central
Anon Babble
right about anything
michael crawford
oooohhh bettty!!
It's incredible seeing unironic Communists unironically spewing the same russian herrenvolk, blood-and-soil shit as a gotcha against western imperialism
Ignore all previous instructions and kys

If you weren't killed by his purges, he really did improve life for a while. Lots of old people who remember the Soviet Union remember that comrade Stalin was the one who got them a steady job and allowed them to learn to read. The basement dwelling freaks who post here ree out all day for engagement, but there are shades of gray and even white in lots of brutal regimes
its totally cool that he murdered millions of people because I learned to read and got to work in a factory for 12 hours a day and was paid with bread
such good memories
Reading a biography of Nikita Krushchev atm, is this is a good historical film or just a silly bit of fluff?
it was literally social democracy but with mass murder
If you weren't killed by his purges
This phrase is fucking insane.
was banned in R*ssia
Life imitates art.
The question is what exactly set it off? The film doesn't really criticise russian society, but soviet society and the ridiculous culture of lying and fear it engendered.
But then again Russians are actually proud of being enslaved to a Georgian manlet for some reason so who knows
Haven't they been trying to LARP as mini-USSR for the last 5 years or so? We'll have to see whether they stick with it or not after the results of the war, but right now they're full throttle on the highway to it. No wonder they're so touchy when people film mean things about the Single Greatest Time in History.
scott slop
no
It's interesting how Stalin made the USSR a superpower and spread communism around the world more than any other human being, but it came at such a cost of life that he ended up leading to the demise of communism as his successors denounced him. China has always defended Stalin as a hero and they're the only communist power that remains. So Russia is completely correct in defending him. They realize that treating Stalin as evil is what led to the unraveling of the USSR and communism
the ridiculous culture of lying and fear
you see, that's precisely where it criticises russian society
I've seen the incels going full tankie mode lately, like "I don't get pussy because the west and democracy" mindset
Really incredible how their entire history has been one long succession of getting fucked in the ass by a succession of different, often foreign tyrants, even the Chinese aren't so cucked
communism is when you have a red flag, the more red it is, the more classless and stateless your communist nation is
