A lot of the people who pushed for the ideology had their start in the fallout of the Vietnam War when communism was popping up all over the place, and they felt like the Democratic Party wasn't hardline enough to stop it, so they courted the Republicans as they gained momentum. Soon these people were in high places and had influence in DC. So when they America invaded Afghanistan, they saw it as an opportunity to turn a backwards, bombed out shithole into a democracy. They failed, but that happened later. They saw Saddam as the inhibitor of terrorism in the region. He wasn't. Iraq became the posterchild for American misadventures as a result. Those people who pushed for the war slowly faded themselves out and got cushy jobs.

As far as the movie goes, it’s pretty good for a quick and easy 90 minutes as far as war movies go. Although I may be heavily biased due to adoring GWOT aesthetics. Also, the film has fantastic sound design for the guns. One thing Civil War did amazing was the sounds of the guns and that was the big thing I was expecting out of this movie. Safe to say, I wasn’t disappointed.

Which is what made the decade after 2003 a complete shitfest. All the people who let their happen have never faced the consequences of their actions and live in the public today.
