What made you lose interest in South Park?
What made you lose interest in South Park?
nothing, still interested
season 18, when pewdiepie appeared
Nothing, still not interested.
Nothing, I forget when it's on and end up on the catchup binge
Shame, the next two seasons were peak
Watching the first episode
When they made fun of Trump.
zoomers will never know what it was like to put a note beside the small crt tv in 1997-98 to with the day and time south park was on so you and your buddies didn't miss an episode because you were all smoking weed all day every day pretty much
Have you ever just listened to an episode? It's a collection of the most irritating sounds imaginable.
Not being a kid or teenager anymore. Even though i did enjoy the covid specials but those are the only ones i've watched in over a decade
It stopped being funny. Last genuinely funny episode was Sarcastaball and that was almost 13 fucking years ago. You simply cannot maintain quality for that long. Should've ended years ago.
It got shit at like 2014-15, just as the woke shit and #metoo were becoming the main definer of that decade. Since South Park is a heavily topical show it also became very political, which ruined the whole identity of the show imo.
they crossed the line and made fun of thing I like, it really wasn't acceptable.
South Park got better every season while you all turned into the boomers it was making fun of the whole time
Aside from the declining quality since season 10, the seasons were getting shorter and shorter. Now they put out 2 episodes a year and the writing is horrendous. If they don't care why should I?
The latest episode I bothered with was about the kids looking for energy drinks and half was about Randy making an onlyfans with closeups of his dick. Even the worst episodes of seasons 10-19 are funny compared to this.
The whole Garrison being Trump thing went on too long, took too much focus, and was boring, so I lost interest.
Also I cancelled my cable subscription around that time too so I don't watch television anymore.
"the crude style allows us to finish an ep in a week and always be able to work in current topics faster than anyone else!"
releases 1-2 eps a year with stale, worn out shit
As soon as I found out one of them was jewish
GOT black Friday trilogy was the last time I remember having fun cause of kids being kids.
is the weed farm arc done yet?
rewatching old episodes and realizing just how conservative the messages are
democrats are hypnotizing you to think republicans cause climate change
the fuck is that?
It peaked with season 2
When it became the Randy Marsh and Towelie show on Tegridy Farms. I'm so fucking tired of the weed shit and Randy.
I'm still interested even though it has become increasingly hit or miss since s15 or so. Still usually good for at least one good laugh an episode
What made you lose interest in South Park?
when they switched from slightly bizarre episodes about aliens or Santa boxing Satan to referencing current events and trying to have some stupid long-running plotlines like Randy's ween farm
Serialization killed it for me. I was getting fed up with three and four parters already and then they just started dumping full season-long storylines. Maybe if they were actually putting a tiny amount of creative energy or effort behind their episodes the switch to serialization wouldn’t have been so bad, but they didn’t. The only reason they were doing multi-episode storylines to begin with was because they were getting too lazy to wrap up an episode and start a new one. Serialization was just them pushing this same laziness to the next level.
Episode commentary is a great eye opener for South Park fans. You really get a feel of the absolute contempt the creators have for their own show. They are very open about being lazy, not caring about quality, and only being there for a paycheck. They have no respect for their audience.
When they had the audacity to mock blumpf
When episodes tried way too hard to be topical and preachy. South Park always had some pop culture references, but it would only be a fraction of the episode while the majority of the story would be something original. Now the entire episode is built around some stupid trend, fad, celebrity, or political event of the week. If I cared about any of that shit I'd be on twitter.
Came here to post You're Getting Old, fantastic way to step away from the series.
Whenever the kids stopped acting like kids. Obviously they never acted like real kids but at a point their age became completely irrelevant and there were no more fun episodes like Casa Bonita and they're just preachy deadpan adults the entire time.
I don't feel any sense of nostalgia for the time at which I watched it and the new episodes are bad.
Like it's not comfy like rewatching the Simpsons
Not even seasons 1-3? I feel thats when South Park was really South Park, it feels like old Simpsons to me.
I get nostalgia from seasons one and two but that’s it. I went through the entire south park library recently trying to find good episodes and nothing after that really jumps out. And the farther into the future you go the worse it gets. By like season five the show is completely worthless and unwatchable
I grew up.
The season with Randy being Lorde was interesting because the episodes flowed into next instead of each episode being self contained.
When you're a kid or a teen the whole "both sides are wrong, actually" theme seems profound and smart, as an adult you can see it from a mile away and they just seem spineless.
IIRC in the Virgin Mary episode the morale was "you're not sober until you can drink OCASSIONALLY" and as a teen i remember being impressed by that, now i think it's fucking retarded, who cares how people stay sober
Season 11
Seems more like you think youre profound and smart now when youre just old and defeated
turning 14
The movie
Trey growing old, uncountably rich and living in LA for close to 30 years.
The weed farm shit is stupid.
I still rewatch old episodes I like.
it's more having real world experience and realising not everyone fits into the one box and if not touching alcohol is the only way some people can stay sober then so be it who are you to judge
it also works the other way as well some people are just drunks for whatever reason and theirs no changing them so let them be
Oh so they touched a nerve, got it
i'm just a realist bro some people have a problem with alcohol more news at 10
realist
pahahaha loosen up bro you were more fun when you drank
Looking back on it, I always thought 45% were mediocre, 45% were unwatchable garbage, and 10% were pretty good comedy. It only became popular because it was taboo to have cartoon kids swearing and being violent/crude. The 'satire' amounts to 'the celebrity/politician we don't like is an obese puppy murderer who pukes himself inside out and gets set on fire at the end'. The movie and songs are also terrible
I fell off around S16, mostly because I was tired of all of the 'Current Thing™' episodes. It just felt like they were rushing to be the first people to comment on some new trend or event, regardless of if they actually had any really developed thoughts about it. I don't even think the 'both sides-ism' complaint a lot of people bring up really applies, at least not when I was still watching (though I can imagine it getting a lot more pronounced once they got to 2016). They just didn't really have *anything* to say, beyond, "well, this is kinda dumb, huh?"
Season 20 when they went from self contained episodes to serialization. It also just got really bad, PC principle got tiring real quick.
When they mocked shitler
I graduated middle school
i know
I still watch it, some stuff in it is still pretty funny. You can tell that their writing is just becoming pretty one-note or pedestrian though since they've started to really age. Their first special was ok, all the rest are really bad. Especially the streaming wars one.
They didn't want you. They just wanted the show. You are better now.
when i turned 22
They weren't really saying anything i wasn't already saying about [current event]
Unironically when they attacked Trump I realized they no longer had the rebellious spirit they used to and were just establishment cucks like everyone else.
t. evil pedo South Park fan
(Kamala lost btw and being trans is illegal)
pc principle
I stopped watching here because of how disingenuous this was. Jock gym bros aren’t spreading political correctness, it’s jews and other government officials/politicians. Comedy is inherently honest, lies aren’t funny. Theres no joke or punchline from pc principle. It’s just the evil jewish pedo writers inserting their hatred for white people or whatever into the show. Ecks Dee? Why don’t you guys ever make fun of rabbis sucking the dicks of babies at bris? Unfunny crap. Family guy MOGS.
The whole "you still think about alcohol, therefore it owns" line of thinking is just being a smartass for no reason. You're just shitting on people for staying sober in the only way they can be to make yourself feel superior
When they made fun of Trump and exposed themselves as dem shills
I know it's always been topical but yeah the "modern" topics ironically completely age it and they really fucking lay it on thick with a trowel. Seasons 1 to about 5 I think, were genuinely good and "charming"z up to maybe 14 was still good and is the South Park that you actually think of, but it's heavily "flanderised" (for lack of a better phrase)
I never had "interest" in it because it was always just another fake-edgy show, pretending to be transgressive while pumping out the same old party line.
It was about as brave as Bill Hicks. i.e. not at all.
because you were all smoking weed all day every day pretty much
No you dont, stop lying
Obama era was when all political satire was becoming overwhelmingly abundant and shitty in all media. South Park was good at it for awhile
Season-long arcs and multi-episode stories. The penchant for wanting to always comment on some current topic is also tiresome and boring.
I didn't say shit about alcohol here. Why are you taking morals from fucking South park. L take.
I just lost interest and it's not really in the cultural zeitgeist anymore so I don't feel like I'm missing out. Culture is defining South Park, when it used to be the other way around.
2015 or 2016 when I realized the season long shitty storylines weren't a one off thing and were how the show was gonna do them from now on
No it feels very adolescent which is something I want to escape from or at least not be reminded of
Tegridy.
When it got "proper" amination.
Jock gym bros aren’t spreading political correctness
kek south park was too complicated for this faggot
that first half of the streaming wars special was so bad i haven't watched anything they've done since
Crab people episode i started to get bored and quit watching on release
