Based Lucas

Makes sense. The movies are action packed thrill rides where you are hooked on every word.

Based George was trying to make Star Wars: Fury Road and none of these hacks could get on his level.

well maybe they should have followed direction and he wouldnt have had to repeat himself

he wanted them to get through the dialogue faster. the self0indulgent actors wanted to recite shakespearian monologues

The Boomers Manchildren said in 1999 George Lucas Raped my Childhood

It's true. A shame he never had control over his own movies. Maybe next time.

James Mangold is directing a Star Wars film with story and screenplay from George Lucas

This.

Say what you will about Lucas, but he understood that actors need to be treated with the respect they deserve, ie. none whatsoever.

And his movies reflect that. He knows how to get the most out of his talent.

Both A New Hope and Phantom Menace have some of the worst acting in a star wars movie.

Actors are trash, movies would be much better without them

That's why characters in his movies are so great, memorable and talked about for decades.
You don't see Ewan, Mark, Hayden or Natalie.
You see Kenobi, Like, Anakin, Padme.
And they tell Lucas can't direct actors. Lmao, he does it the best in the industry.
Fucking plebeans.

TCW was the beginning of the end of Star Wars

If you see behind scenes of New Hope can see what a pain in the ass all actors where. They all thought the movie was going to a bomb, did not see at all what Lucas was visioning and were all low energy about it, especially Ford

Yea but that's just been a bit exaggerated over the years. Basically Lucas was never much of an actors director and yeah, his main direction was "faster and more intense." But the big thing was that he had some weird personality quirk where if he said nothing it meant he absolutely loved what you were doing and thought it was perfect - if he said anything to you it meant he hated what you were doing and you needed to change it up quick, and everyone had to learn that on the job. The whole "it was a running joke" thing is mostly just Carrie Fisher making fun of George years after the fact.

Here's some good quotes from Ford and Carrie recorded in January 1977 about half a year after filming wrapped and before the movie came out

Without sounding mad, explain what's wrong with this?

The results.

omg faggots grow up

yeah I remember the midge who played r2d2 said the same thing, they all thought they were making some cheesy z-grade disaster and they gave George a pretty hard time

The internet: The actors hated George and made fun of him for his direction

Meanwhile, Harrison Ford: That's one of the nice things about George which gives me real confidence in him

You can't make this shit up

The actors talked about how after nearly every take, the entirety of Lucas’s direction boiled down to one sentence, “Let’s do it again. Faster and more intense.” It became a running joke during the production.

ATTACK OF THE SNORES
Hooboy, image how dreadfully dull these scenes were before George Lucas "Jazzed it up..."

Remember this is AFTER, "Let’s do it again. Faster and more intense.", was said at least 3 times.

why did he hire such slow, mild actors?

...they're talking about the first film anon, which most people like. Also what do you mean "he jazzed it up"? What by giving very basic directions? I don't think you know what "jazzing it up" even means

today anon learned that almost every word that comes out of a Hollywood actor's mouth is complete bullshit

To be fair to them, a big part of their job involves PR and promoting the movies they make, which means they have to lie over and over again in interview after interview and pretend their latest film is a must-see masterpiece when they know damn well it's a giant piece of shit. They have to pretend everyone got along behind the scenes when in reality they were all egomaniacal assholes who despised each other. And 99% of the time they can NEVER be honest about this stuff even decades later because whoever they betray by telling the truth will be majorly butthurt and they'll be labelled a backstabber and get themselves blacklisted by Hollywood, game over man. It's an industry that runs on lies, truth is kryptonite in the movie business. Not to mention Hollywood is insanely tribal and almost entirely comprised of nepobabies of the Ashkenazi persuasion if you catch my meaning. If not, just check out early life on Harrison Ford's wikipedia page.

tl;dr actors are professional liars and everything they say should be heavily scrutinized if not immediately disregarded as pure fiction. I mean not that I have any personal grudge against actors or anything like that haha whatever gave you that idea lol that's just crazy talk man

Really? I was getting more of a "people on the internet are completely full of shit and even when shown evidence to the contrary will then just twist said evidence around and claim they were still right all along" kinda lesson. But you do you man.

Sup zegler
You were the bomb in snow white yo

If only he'd remembered that strategy for the prequels.

he does it the best in the industry.

Lol

i want to believe these threads are ironic but i know prequel zoomers really are that stupid. of all the things to give cult like devotion toward, the star wars prequels are on the short list of least deserving, yet you retards make its worship your entire personality this board is just embarrassing now, thread after thread every day of the same tired prequel glazing. i hop every single one of you gets drafted for ww3

Good for him.. I wish he gone even farther with it.

tbf Lucas himself wasn't sure how successful it will be. Making it's money back and then some, yes, becoming one of the most successfully movies of the century? I doubt anyone expected that.

They are ironic, anon. That's not to say that the prequels don't have a following, but the second you read a post stating they're for adults then the curtain drops.

Why do i feel like this wasn't sarcasm

It's nearly impossible to recreate being young, hungry, and full of fire, especially after having success that sets you up for life.

This.

It's good he was self-conscious about pacing. More explicit instruction would have done wonders. Guinness & Cushing & McDiarmid surely didn't require that prompting.

Fisher script doctored the subsequent films' scripts for dialogue.

Don't have to like the films. But you can shoot and edit footage on your phone (no)thanks to the man going out of his way to force development of digital editing software. He was a technical pioneer in the medium.

Fisher script doctored the subsequent films' scripts for dialogue.

No she didn't. She didn't start doing that until the 90s anon. Some places online say she did but that's just people on the internet making shit up again.

Came here to post this.
