In the old smosh they both had a very retarded way of acting, that I think what attracted a lot of kids. Right now Ian feels comfortable in his environment, charismatic, and meshes well with others. I was a smosh kid and their dynamic was what made all their videos so great.
They also had a consistently high production quality which put them miles ahead of almost all other youtube channels at the time, it felt like watching a real tv show most of the time.
