Nintendo are playing it as safe as possible with their movies, they want their entry into the film industry to be a successful. They played it safe with Mario. Safe animation studio, mild budget, predictable current big name actors and mainstays, basic and familiar story.

Zelda will be the same but live action, a straightforward fantasy film without risk taking.
They are not suddenly going to introduce one of the riskiest and most guaranteed to be divisive moves in the history of blockbuster filmmaking, for no benefit whatsoever given Schafer isn't even a big name.
