I really hate how they feel the need to speedrun the Doctor trauma-dumping his backstory on every new companion these days. This scene made the whole episode retroactively shit. It makes it so much worse when they force a new companion every season and the seasons are only a few episodes long.

I was able to forgive it a bit because it's the start of a new Doctor, new "era," new Disney+ audience, etc, etc, and they needed to establish things for new people. The cartoon scene in Lux just felt extremely forced and rushed. It was entirely for the audience and didn't feel like the characters actually connecting or growing their relationship in any way.
