People don't want a triaged version of Star Wars where everything that Disney ruined has been quarantined and all we have left is stories that have nothing to do with the original characters, the jedi, and all the new republic. Star Wars is a big IP but that original through line on the story was its legs, and Disney shot out its legs when they made the Disney Trilogy. CG face replacement has become an expensive crutch as well as an excuse for why the original characters can't star in movies or shows anymore. People who keep saying "star wars needs to move on from the Skywalkers" have fallen right into Disney's trap, because that's exactly what they want you to think. They want Star Wars to be a generic lifestyle brand that can be anything except what it used to be, before they bought it.

Again, "just treat them like legends" is exactly what Disney did and it ended up being a huge disservice to the franchise. The time to start sunsetting the OT characters is the Yuzan Vong war, and then have a jump forward a century to show the next generation of characters. That's a 15-20 year roadmap for multiple Star Wars trilogies and spinoffs along with an exit ramp for where to take the IP for its next era beyond. It was all there staring Disney in the face and they said no to making lots of money because it would have meant paying royalty fees to all the writers who actually made the EU the hit that it was. Whatever it is that Disney would have to pay Timothy Zahn to making movies out of his novels, it's far less than what every other studio would have paid to get the movie rights to one of the best selling sci-fi novel trilogies of all time.

I did. It's kinda a weird experience. On one hand it elevates so much of the dialogue and makes it so much better in parts especially Cassian's dialogue. On the other hand it makes other parts so much worse and cringe, especially Jyn's dialogue

The only good thing about it is that it made casuals realize how much of a hack Dave Filoni is and now that they turned on him they have nothing to look forward to. The last video game flopped and the KotOR remake is as likely to be made as Rian Johnson's movie trilogy. There are no books or comics to look forward to either, The High Republic multimedia project was forgotten before it was finished.
