in bruges is so good, i wish i knew of more movies that are set in an european city and the setting is practically a character in the movie (and aren't fucking depressing like trainspotting). i can only think of before sunrise and before sunset besides in bruges.
guy ritchie movies are close but in them, the setting is "england", not any particular city. nobody ever talks about "croydon" or "lewisham". closest they get to regionalisms is the southern fairies/northern monkeys comments in snatch.
