There's J&M episodes where Mike admits that he would sometimes help James take notes while he's playing a game and it does sound like Mike was a big motivator for James but he's never taken credit for actually writing entire episodes. It's a truther narrative that was invented because autists can't accept that all good things must come to an end so they need to come up with these copes to rationalize why everything sucks now. I just watched them both and at no point do any of them claim that Mike came up with everything on his own or that he's the real AVGN but they do explain that he helped out on both of the videos. James even admits he improvised some of Freddy's lines himself and edited the video proving he did the bulk of the work on his own.
