The retro future wasteland is the entire point of this video game. Nobody wants to play in a restored city where the only references to fun are plaques commemorating the great war. Wooo I'm a milk man and get to pay taxes to the restored government thanks to the ncr's actions last game. fun.
then set it OUTSIDE of that established territory, dumbass. Or do the collapse of that society in a way that isn't a flagrant insult to the work of the devs that came before you.
eg. a game set in NCR territory that is currently undergoing civil war due to the fallout of Hoover Dam which didn't end up under NCR control in the end and now California is in disarray with soldiers shooting rebels on sight and committing war crimes.

Even in a built up society, you can have frontiers, crime, and rich/poor divide. Allowing the setting to bloom just creates a potential for more stories.

By the standards of adaptations, it's above average, and by the standards of modern TV, it's above average.
the show displayed who the actual fans are, as cringe as that sounds. It's not a good show, period, and it's especially not a good Fallout adaptation. It's a test.
I mean, it's easy to pretend you're le big brain ascended Fallout fan, but what exactly a "faithful adaptation" would look like is up for debate, considering how much the actual games vary in tone.
