I think Nathan is going about it in generally the wrong way. Why be obsessive about generating relationships between strangers when you could adopt a partner system and just put together two people with matching synergies and have them always fly together.

Of course, it's not just the airline industry where the partner system has fallen apart totally. I was a paramedic for a while, but the medical system shortages are so pervasive that you can't keep working with the same person on a regular basis and partners are always switching. You need a rapport with your partner, I think, because it's not a minimum wage job where you can just ignore co-workers. It was bad enough not knowing what the patient will decide to randomly do, but also not knowing how your partner will react? It's a rough go.

I'm still a paramedic but I went the route most people end up choosing. Work for a private company, get paid more, and you don't have to worry about what your partner will do, because you work all by yourself. Just an on-site medic in case someone gets hurt, but it hardly ever happens.

Sure, but there was barely any acting going on. He paired up people who had chemistry and told them to "improvise" being bf and gf, while pretending to be Colin and the blonde girl. I’ve encountered a lot of hypocrisy in my own relationships on the “reality” talking point. the first episode is pretty different from the rest of the show. give it a few more episodes. personally I thought season 1 was a bit of a dud but it does have some interesting material, season 2 is way better so far imo.
and each season has a running story.

S1 has an overarching premise starting with its 2nd episode that most people agree is worse than the pilots vibe, S2 has a new focus with pilots which is cohesive to an extent but every individual episode of both seasons focuses on a few real people and some of their stories that usually don't last more than one ep
