WB will focus on capeshit and wizardslop from now on
Fantastic beasts and DCEU failed. Joker 2 failed. AFAIK only Barbie and Minecraft the only recent movies that earned money
Warner Bros is 60 billion dollars in debt
Majority of films are box office bombs
DC, Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts failed as franchises
CW sold for zero dollars
Nolan left
Zaslav salary in 2022 was 39.3 million. In 2021 it was 246 million?
How? Why?
Also, Warner Bros are really retarded. AFAIK Joker was more profitable than EndGame, but they had to give a lot of money to other studies due to back end stuff. And then Joker 2 failed.
I can’t wait for more remakes and franchise reboots
He's messing around here. DC is being sold to Netflix.
Will Netflix gain the rights to games? and cartoons? Will Netflix make new games and cartoons?
remakes and reboots don't always guarantee success.
as if they had any other choice
DC is getting sold off no matter what. Superman's box office performance just determines how much it's getting sold for.
How? Why?
Jews
Their horroslop division makes more than their capeshit.
I don't care who it's sold to, I just hope that faggot James Gunn has nothing to do with the brand.
Sinners made a lot. Their horror division always does. But they are obsessed with Marvel bux, and even Marvel bux aren't there anymore. Superman will be a huge flop too
it seems retarded in the age of IPs to sell off a major IP. Are they in this much financial debt?
I didn't know that Sinners were WB. Respect to those that made it
Zazlav is legit vulture.
How? Why?
Reported to the ADL for hate speech.
Fantastic beasts
this was only greenlit so they could fall back on something if their capeshit universe failed and then both failed
WB is $60 billion in debt
found WB2, sell all your IP to WB2 for $1
WB declares bankruptcy
it's that easy
Depends on the specifics of "a lot". It wasn't one of those cheap horror movies.
This and DEI policies that prioritize shallow traits over skill are the main reasons the industry´s gone to the gutter. Though honestly they are kind of the same thing.
History´s proven that Hollywood was at it´s absolute best when it supported skilled individuals trying to carry on their personal visions. There are most likely thousands of skilled authors waiting on their chance to make their original movie or game or get their book adapted, people that could show the audiences something new that would recapture their interest on cinema or video games...
Instead studios insist on pushing the same 3 best selling IPs with the same 3 generic social themes and treat their artists as mere technicians. It´s a sad state of affairs to be sure.
Good luck with that having James Gunn in charge because he has no aesthetic sense, look at the disaster of all the Superman characters besides having chosen an actor who doesn't look good in the suit, imagine the disaster that will be with Wonder Woman and Batman, don't forget that James Gunn doesn't like the comics and you know why
Zaslav is so incompetent that he's going to make a Harry Potter TV show and not new movies with Harry and Hermione's kids. The guy is a billionaire and I think we know how he got rich. It wasn't because he was smart.
Remember when this guy took over and the absolute faggot non-white capeshit culture warriors here praised him as being pro white and based
Fantastic beasts
They should have just continued like the first one and made it a kind of Indiana Jones, but instead of finding treasure, the autistic person is looking for legendary/endangered monsters. They could have expanded on ancient civilizations that used magic, etc. But instead, we got "Whot if pre-WW1 but wizards?"
No it’s not. WB will never sell DC. They may allow Netflix to have the Synderverse but that’s no different then when Marvel allowed Netflix to use some of their characters
uhh yeah thanks everyone for doing streamstars, great work everyone
wizardslop
lololmfao my sides my sidesssss
I agree. The first movie was somewhat decent. The third one was so boring. Some incredibly boring politics and basically nothing happened.
MAKE SOMETHING NEW INSTEAD OF SUCKING ON THE WIZENED TEAT OF ESTABLISHED IPS YOU FUCKING COWARDS
Subhuman physiognomy.
DC and Harry Potter literally print money. A profit is a profit.
cry and bitch
idc
i’m not a faggot nor shill, i just know WB will be alright cause i’m not a RETARD, like the lot of (you)
Fantastic beasts and DCEU failed. Joker 2 failed.
Thing is that is all failed from a mile away. You could see that DEI is going to be a massive failure. Yet they went through with it. Not only once, but for many years and with no end in sight.
Why aren't they getting sued by their shareholders? Any shareholder can do that.
No, they don't. But the sad reality is the cold hard numbers show reboots/sequels/legacy sequels/reimaginings are a safer more profitable bet than new IP's.
Everyone screams and cries about the newest shitty unnecessary remake but then they still end up going to see it in droves.
"Whot if pre-WW1 but wizards?"
It was set between world wars, one of the few good scenes was depp showing the room full of wizards a vision of WWII.
Neither Joker 2 or Fantastic Beasts movies had any DEI
You're a retard.
Joker 2 was all about emasculating.
FB is all about faggots, strong women and destroying things you like.
Because its their fault. They fell for Dwayne Johnson's bullshit. Why the fuck didn't they sell?
Fantastic beasts
They fucked up by not making this guy the protagonist. The only likeable relatable character. Makes me want to see a bewitched type movie starring those two.
Joker 2 was all about emasculating.
That's called passive protagonist, not 'DEI'
Studios might think like that, but studios are retarded. Sinners, The Beekeeper, The Working Man, Civil War etc were all original IPs that earned some money.
That's called passive protagonist, not 'DEI'
Anon, that is what happens when you have a generation of kids who can only "think" in buzzwords and memes.
Now that I think about it, the Joker 2 is same as the Room. Is the Room dei?
He got his memory wiped then just rebound with no explanation, being mind controlled, which also was glossed over, she joined the evil side, then that got ignored again for the last movie!
Studios might think like that, but studios are retarded
Doesn't really matter because they're the ones making the movies.
And again, the numbers prove time and time again that recognizable IP will bring in more money on average than an original movie.
The fact that original movies can still make money doesn't change the equation.
These people are dumping tons of money into these movies, and after a certain dollar amount it would be fiscally irresponsible to not become more and more risk averse.
Now don't get me wrong, I think its a crying shame, and I'm not defending it.
You also need to understand that studios make money by getting investors for the next film. If I'm disney, and I made Capeshit-Man #457 for 500 million, then I can go to investors for Capeshit-Man #458 and asked them for 700 million. The studio turns around and pays itself most of that money back and uses only a fraction on the actual production of the movie.
They don't care if it does well or not, just as long as it isn't an embarrassing public disaster that is going to stop people from giving you MORE money for your next movie.
This creates a problem where big studios aren't interested in making small-to-mid budget movies anymore (or at least to the extent they used to).
Those smaller budgeted movies were places where new directors could cut their teeth, take risks, hone the craft, and not have to worry about sinking the studio if it doesn't sell five tickets to everyone alive on the planet during the 2 weeks it will be in theaters.
And in the event that someone does make a successful indie project they get snatched up and attached to the latest bloated franchise where the inertia and studio mandates ensures there will be as few creative decisions made by your creative talent as possible.
Why go only HALF-WOKE?
One black Snape?
Hire Dylan Mulveiney as Minerva McGonagall.
The room is aryan art that is too kino for jews to comprehend
What's Cameron's secret?
They would never ever sell DC by itself.
Zaslav would kill his own mother to get someone to offer ~$50B for the entirety of WBD however.
They unironically should've made Avengers : Wizard edition
Make several movies about different characters with only small relations to one other
One movie with the fantastic beast guy, one movie with another american wizard, one movie exploring Dumbledore's youth, etc etc
Pull everyone together for a Avengers-like reunion movie later on
Milk the formula easily ten years more
Zaslav salary in 2022 was 39.3 million. In 2021 it was 246 million?
Nepotism and getting a good contract.
Make several movies about different characters with only small relations to one other
One movie with the fantastic beast guy, one movie with another american wizard, one movie exploring Dumbledore's youth, etc etc
Pull everyone together for a Avengers-like reunion movie later on
That would require hiring writers to actually come up with something
Superman doesn't bomb but does middling numbers. This is enough for Zazlav to go scorched earth on the newly-formed DC Studios and prepare for the eventual sale/takeover (Apple being the most likely buyer). This is inevitable. It is a shame that it's gottent to this but it will happen.
And again, the numbers prove time and time again that recognizable IP will bring in more money on average than an original movie.
But isn't there law of diminishing returns? Like most of new MCU movies don't earn that much, same how sonic 3 earned less than first one or the recent transformers movie underperforming?
of course there are exceptions like Wick quadrilogy, but the movies were actually consistent
It's become a quarter-by-quarter corporate game where everyone is trying to justify keeping their jobs for the next project, and no one considers the big picture. In the grand scheme, the IP obsession is watering down the cultural significance of movies in general. No one expects anything new to be great, just an echo of something that was great 30-40 years ago. Studio execs are killing their own industry one cut at a time because everyone is afraid to take a stand on something original and get their head chopped off as a result. At least with Capeshit #397 they can justify the decision with some tangible number. None of them can justify their taste for an original because they have no track record of their taste paying off.
because everyone is afraid to take a stand on something original
That makes sense. A stand out movie might hurt future average movies.
it's same how gamers say, why play generic game when there are ten year old masterpieces.
