This might be the worst produced show I’ve ever seen from HBO. I don’t understand what the vibe is that they’re going for. It seems like they want it to be ‘dark’ and ‘serious’, but all the actors look like they’re plucked straight out of Beverly Hills High with smooth skin, styled hair and makeup. And the sets themselves look like something from Disney World.

HBO made Station 11, which was probably 1/10th the budget but feels 100 times more realistic in terms of set and character design. Half the time I’m watching The Last of Us it feels like some sort of CW or SyFy show

I rarely, if ever actually drop a show I'm actively watching, but I honestly did this week with TLOU. I didn't even watch the 4th episode and don't plan on continuing to watch this show. The 3rd episode was so insulting to me as a viewer that I literally ragequit this shitty show and all the retarded normies that praise this, including people that never even played the game. I'm a rare person on Anon Babble that will actually defend TLOU2. I liked the game. It's flawed, sure, but it's a damn impressive looking game and the gameplay itself is a huge stepup from the first game. The game is so, so much better. It's night and day. The tone is far darker, a thick blanket of bleakness and misery with one goal in sight. Moments of levity and respite are rare and have a bittersweetness to them.
Ellie reacts to the pregnancy not with "oh awesome I'm gonna be a dad lol, let's have sex" but with anger. She's appalled at the setback it represents and straight-up calls her a burden. Dina reacts with the most gut-wrenching look of distress and betrayal ever animated and then the player is left to wander the empty theatre as Ellie, in silence except for the rain. We go up to the roof alone, which involves going outside for a moment and up a fire escape, and as we soak in the miserable moisture of Seattle the atmosphere of uncertainty and guilt is palpable.

Goddamn typing that out makes me want to replay it. Even the guitar scene is better. Such an incredible fucking video game.

The game intentionally does not go very far into detail about the Seraphites' beliefs beyond hinting at the profit's backstory and it appears that this show will go deeper into that and their conflicts with the WLF.

That said, the game is still good. The story is pretty good too, even the ending. I liked the characters and their characterization. I liked the plot in general. I loved how the game makes you play Ellie all gung ho, happily murdering all the people who were involved in killing Joel, and feeling awesome doing so hunting down all the people who killed him was fun.
Then the game turns the tables on you, the player, and forces you to play Abby, and you fucking hate it. You want to see her killed, you want to see her destroyed, and yes she looks stupid and annoying, but somehow, the game actually pulls it off and hour after hour of playing Abby you begin to actually have fun killing the cultists and feel some sort of investment in this character despite everything. The best segment in the game in the hospital takes place as Abby and is honestly scary as hell.
Then you get back to playing Ellie and it's conflicted because you're now kind of attached to both of these characters and while you still kind of want to see Ellie kill Abby it becomes more muddy, and the game just keeps going after that, it's great.

They genuinely improved a lot of things from the first game which is much more simplistic in replays too. The stealth is much better and has more depth, as does the gameplay and movement in general. It's tense as hell on Grounded sneaking around in the grass and hiding from enemies searching for you.

All of this is to say the show is a completely inferior product and a waste of time if you actually played both games, the first season included.

You learn to actually understand both characters, and understand why she killed Joel, and also understand why Joel did nothing wrong, you can find reason in almost all the characters actions by the end of the game, even Ellie in her decision to let Abby live and go back to Jackson.

I think more than anything, the leaks about TLOU2 before the game came out really killed so many people's views on the game and made them automatically hate it before it was even out. I choose to go into the game with an open mind despite knowing the leaks and found it really enjoyable, one of the best looking games I've ever played, tons of attention to detail.
