No Leto II doesn't become the worm with a human head and arms immediately, is partially correct in that he fuses with sand trout which eventually meld with his human form, but this process takes hundreds of years. In Children of Dune, when Leto II initially fuses, he still maintains a humanoid form but with greatly enhanced physical strength and endurance. He doesn't become a worm until God Emperor, which takes place thousands of years after Children.

His biggest problem is that he takes a colorful, wildly imaginative and esoteric story like Dune, feels embarrassed about all the more fantastic elements, and instead wants to do Sicario but in space. I don't think a director who is ashamed of the source material, should be handling it. Let the man make sicario in space, without turning Dune into a YA tier, bland and lifeless shitshow, that people only praise because the competition has been abysmal for years.
