Nightcrawler is a lot more grounded and a lot less tongue-in-cheek than American Psycho. They're not actually very comparable other than both having protagonists with an antisocial personality disorder.

It’s completely different than American psycho. Bateman is a nepo baby cruising through life and fantasizing about killing and raping everyone around him out of boredom and self-loathing. Bloom is a hustle and grind broke bitch sociopath who finds a niche and manages to climb to the top of it and get basically everything he wants. One’s an over the top killer and the other wouldn’t shoot a man for fun but would watch his own mother drown for a 1% portfolio increase.

Yeah I don’t know when people started calling any form of pretending to be a specific kind of person online “LARPing.” I guess the broader implication is they live that fantasy out in their head in their day to day life as well, but it’s not like we have any way of knowing that, and generally the persons only exists online, hence RPing.

It's actually not explicit at all, and it makes more sense for Lou to kill the guard since the guard saw his face and talked to him. And even if he wasn't killed (which was ambiguous and I believe he was), then it's still a case of a man being beaten and robbed by a petty sociopathic criminal.
