I don't get this all or nothing mentality about what Star Wars should be - didn't the EU go a bunch of different directions? Why can't there just be 'this is Star Wars for a general audience', 'this is Star Wars very much aimed at a younger audience', 'this is Star Wars aimed at a mature audience'? Do I just not grasp how central to their identity Star Wars is to some people, and that when it does not conform to their rigid and narrow expectations they loose their mind as they think all Star Wars should be tailored to them? Don't get me wrong, I can understood people not liking Andor (and circlejerking it is bad), but it just seems a waste of their energy to get so worked up over it and yet only every shallowly critique it. Obviously there are retards that like things simply because it has Star Wars in the name (and those people often either like everything or just like shit), but there seems just as many more people that are more in love with Star Wars as an idea that forms part of their identity and when that does not match their idea they respond to it as an afront.

Disney also played a part in this when they scrapped the EU on the grounds of consolidating everything into more or less one avenue. Now, obviously that's not how things would end up going, but it was their mindset that things should be for everyone that led to shit like what we're seeing now.
