How come nobody talks about the Disney Channel original series of the 80s and 90s? I never see people talk about Welcome to Pooh Corner, Dumbo's Circus, and Adventures in Wonderland even though Pooh Corner and Dumbo's Circus have more episodes than any other Disney show besides Phineas and Ferb
How come nobody talks about the Disney Channel original series of the 80s and 90s...
maybe no one has heard of any of those
for me it was cucktales
I remember those series.
Yeah Disney Afternoon was cool, syndicated too so didn't need the Disney Channel to see them.
Didn't have the disney channel until the 2000s. Like said the syndicated stuff was good enough, better even in most regards.
We used to. I was gooning to Peg Pete before half this site's userbase was even born.
Spellbinder was cool, and it came from Australia/Poland. Was alt universe before it was mainstream.
Why did Welcome to Pooh Corner, Dumbo's Circus, and Adventures in Wonderland have more episodes than the Disney Afternoon shows? Okay, DuckTales had just as many as Adventures in Wonderland, but besides Pooh Corner and Dumbo had more than even DuckTales. Were these shows really THAT popular to get so many episodes? Because honesty, I don't really see what's so great about shows like Pooh Corner and Dumbo's Circus. They're so bad they're good, but that's about it
I really hope there's a lot of people who didn't have Disney Channel back then because the stuff that was exclusive to Disney Channel was not very good. The Disney Afternoon shows were way better than Pooh Corner and Dumbo's Circus
Am I the only one who thinks Pooh Corner, Dumbo's Circus, and Adventures in Wonderland are cheaply made shows? They only ever used a few sets and had badly done video effects. Say what you will about say, Hannah Montana, but Hannah Montana felt like it had more of a budget than Wonderland or Pooh Corner
Was probably some stupid cheap crap to fill in the schedule
I know at least one of them (Wonderland) was even filmed in their own studio in Florida (MGM now Hollywood Studios theme park) so that says something.
So what was the first show created for Disney Channel that people actually still talk about at the very least in a nostalgic sense considering nobody talks about Pooh Corner or Dumbo's Circus?
People most likely forgot or didn't have Disney back then
It was on cable and only in select markets.
I remember all of those fondly but it's not something I'd bring up regularly.
Spellbinder wasn't Disney, right?
I don't really see what's so great about shows like Pooh Corner and Dumbo's Circus. They're so bad they're good, but that's about it
As a little toddler they were great and fun shows but I can see why someone looking at them with adult eyes might not get it
What was even the point of watching shows like Pooh Corner, Dumbo's Circus, and Adventures in Wonderland when Nickelodeon had way better shows? If you compare Dumbo's Circus to Ren and Stimpy, i'd say Ren and Stimpy was a way better show. The stuff on PBS like Sesame Street and Mister Rogers were way better than low-budget series like Welcome to Pooh Corner. Seriously, just compare Rocko's Modern Life to Adventures in Wonderland side by side and Rocko is a WAY better show! There's a reason people remember Rocko and nobody remembers Wonderland
Welcome to Pooh Corner, Dumbo's Circus, and Adventures in Wonderland
they were all pure kino and soul
its incredible that disney has lost the ability to make shit like this again
they are just uncapable of doing it
I know Pooh Corner, Dumbo's Circus, and Wonderland weren't even rerunning anymore by the time Ed Edd n Eddy premiered, but i'd say Ed Edd n Eddy was a way better show. It was funnier and cooler and didn't talk down to its audience. Adventures in Wonderland felt so fucking patronizing with how it had to spell out its messages and lessons to its audiences
i only saw shows that were on free antenna networks. i assume they were picky about what shows they license to air, so it was mostly more quality stuff
Am I the only one who didn't even have Disney as a kid? it was a premium channel, so I only ever tried it out during those free weeks that would happen
Disney Channel was gay, simple as.
Wrong.
Early Disney was some of the best wholesome TV.
They played plenty of good movies.
Any thoughts on really old Disney Channel?
No but it aired on the disney channel so I'm counting it. It was some australian and polish goverment joint production en.wikipedia.org
Bump
my sister used to watch the gay exercising show every morning when I wanted to watch ninja turtles or gi joe so I fucking hated the disney channel
Oh this one. I forgot about it
Don't think I ever saw that but I did watch the Defunctland episode about it. youtube.com
I was too poor to have the OG Disney Channel back in the day.
So what was the point in watching shows like Pooh Corner or Dumbo's Circus or Wonderland when Ren and Stimpy, Batman: The Animated Series, and Animaniacs were better than all 3 combined?
i was too poor to get a ton of channels, I was always envious of my friends who stole cable with that black box, I knew my parents would never break the law like that so never asked them to get one
youtube.com
Probably only live-action sitcoms they made that's decent.
Defunctland is pretty great.
different decade, but my favorite was (and still is) The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
Vault Disney from 9 pm until early in the morning was my favorite. I remember staying up late on Friday nights watching reruns of Zorro, Davy Crockett (the uncut miniseries version), and other classic old-school Disney stuff.
So did anyone actually think Welcome to Pooh Corner, Dumbo's Circus, and Adventures in Wonderland were good? I can't imagine anyone actually thinking those shows were great. At best, they're so bad they're good, they aren't actually good at all
Pooh Corner was kinda comfy
Eeyore was literally me
Why is Adventures in Wonderland even on Disney Plus? Who even asked for that show to be on there? I don't think there was any demand for that show to be on there
Because cheap easy filler ?
FUCK MICHELLE OBAAAAMAAA
Ducktales
Darkwing Duck
Gargoyles
Darkwing Duck
Gargoyles
ok yeah these were great
For me, it was staying up late to watch Vault Disney as a kid. Introduced me to lots of classics like Fantasia. Would switch between that an Adult Swim.
But those weren't created for the disney channel
You're correct. None of them were. Darkwing Duck did air originally on The Disney Channel as 13 episodes premiered first on there, but that was as a trial run. Those who subscribed to The Disney Channel got to see 13 episodes of the show before it "officially premiered". The first cartoon made for Disney Channel was PB&J Otter in 1998
Mouseterpiece Theater
totally forgot about that
Anon, I remember this. When I was young Disney Channel was a pay channel like HBO or Showtime. We didn't have it. I only saw it at my great-grandparents when we went down to Florida to visit them and coincidentally visit Disney World. I thought that if you lived in Florida you got the Disney Channel for free since the theme park was close to your house. I was a little cutie anon with that line of logic.
because nobody gives a fuck about disney channel except for shit like Hannah Montana
autists are more obsessed with nickelodeon and cartoon network
like who gives a fuck about some show called poo's corner and dumbass circus
