It sucked the moment it became Canadian Nickelodeon
It sucked the moment it became Canadian Nickelodeon
It went to trash when you came home from school and it was literally nothing but SpongeBob and oddparents from 4 to 8.
I watched it in the 1990s. It was pretty kino except for when they stopped airing Power Rangers because of parental concerns it was promoting violence.
2005 was the beginning of the end
So around 1999? I only kept watching it for Bionix but 90s YTV was great
Yeah it's weird they only aired it for like 1 year but it was still incredibly popular here
Bionix
Yeah. It was the only redeemable programming block YTV had after a certain point

Sometimes it feels like it was something from a fever dream. Something you only recall brief glimpses of.
I was only a baby when short circutz aired, so I don't remember it, but it's something that made me nostalgic for ever since I discovered it over a decade ago. Amazing stuff
Somebody recorded the YTV versions of short circutz? Hell yeah! You can see recordings of the original laser disc versions, but YTV changed the music so it's not what you're used to.
Sugar mommy
She was so awkward on her first day.
Whatever happened to Pat Kelly?

Why did ytv have so much anime?
They knew what was up. Either that, or competing with Toonami/Adult Swim
animenewsnetwork.com
teletoon also became Johnny Test TV at some point, in both languages

As an American, I only saw this logo at the end of syndicated shows imported from maple leaf land. Usually something educational
Yeah that was called The Mind’s Eye on my US Laserdisc
Usually something educational
Do you have any idea what shows those were?
It was a compilation of early CGI demo reels mostly from the Mind's Eye, Beyond the Mind's Eye and Imaginaria LaserDiscs with music from Jan Hammer and James Reynolds. I don't recall Short Circutz having different music though.
Whatever happened to Pat Kelly?
Seems like he recently dropped off the face of the earth. His twitter hasn't been used in years.

The North American anime boom of the 90s started in Canada. All those old shows and movies were recorded in Canada, so it was probably cheaper to get them than regular cartoons.
Sugar got naked a few times in some Hollywood movies. there was one where she shows some serious bush like we're talking 1980s bush
And one where she moans like she's in an actual porno.
Yeah I think the DBZ and Sailor Moon dubs as well as many others were recorded in Canada but that was the case for most voice acting in the 90s and early 2000s.
I want to go back to the late 90s-early 2000s

This might be relevant to some autismos itt who miss their childhoods
Remember Anti Gravity Room and Gamerz?
remember when they played Gundam Wing Endless Waltz on repeat for a full 24 hours on Christmas or whatever?
Could've sworn Pingu aired in the mid 90s

I noticed that the 90s schedules are somewhat empty
Dragon Ball first airing on YTV's Brainwash

This was before the corny intro from the early-mid 2000s

How the hell is Reboot after Beast Wars and Shadow Raiders? It came out years before.
I don't remember Pingu airing in the 90s but I know for a fact Plonsters did along with a bunch of other German shows like Maya the Bee and Hallo Spencer. The archive is still mostly accurate and mostly complete.
Pungu aired in the early-mid 90s on TVO.
Reboot is listed later for the later seasons with post-timeskip Matrix. But that image is kind of retarded in places, it gives the impression of chronology but Gundam Wing was also part of the core, core early lineup of anime that was running with Sailor Moon, Escaflowne, Dragonball Z, etc.
The shitty intro is actually just the French intro dubbed into English. The French and Spanish had dubs for DragonBall long before we did.

Can't believe Sean Majumbo was the one to introduce Dragonball to us. I can't stand the guy.
My era: youtube.com
anyone remember the website
Anyone around for the early era of YTV? What are your thoughts?
YTV First Night (1988): youtube.com
I mostly watched as a kid from '02 - '07 and while I don't remember Spongebob/FOP being too overplayed (only ever remember it being 4:30 to 5:00 or 5:00 to 5:30) I have distinct memories of groaning and rolling my eyes every Saturday morning and seeing nothing but fucking Teen Titans.
The Golden Age was '94 to '99 but it only went to shit after they stopped airing anime in 2007
Paid programming garbage. They tried really hard to recreate Snit but failed
This is the only nickelodeon cartoon I ever liked
I liked Spongebob, Ren and Stimpy and Angry Beavers. Hey Arnold was okay but at least it wasn't fucking Doug
the french were really obsessed with doing this, i don't know why. when we got cardcaptor sakura in quebec we actually got the original OP/EDs dubbed in french instead of the froggy mix shit.
