Was it ever good?

Was it ever good?

Papyrus

It was good back in the Seth Meyers, Will Ferrell & Tina Fey days.

No, it's always been 75% cringe, 20% mildly amusing and 5% funny

You are the first person I’ve ever seen claim they like Seth Meyers. Not judging, I’m just surprised

when Phil Hartman joined and up to when Tina Fey left

Was it ever good?

no.

I enjoy his show now, and he was head writer during the best stint. In hindsight he seemed like a bit of a charisma vacuum but he has honed his craft in recent years.

Are there any good documentary series about the history of the show? I’m not American and think snl as a cultural institution is fascinating

I can still laugh at it when I'm drunk, but it was much better in the 2000s and all the way prior. There was a complete turning point for not SNL but just a lot of shit in 2010.

I've watched this skit 100 times

that skit is 20 years old

think snl as a cultural institution is fascinating

LOL

What does the N stand for?

90s SNL had its moments. But it is slop by design. The writers only have a few days to put it all together.

south park is written in a week and is far better quality, plus they have to have entire stories. snl is just SLOP!

You know what I mean, it's like a cultural archive of pop culture history. I found out about the show after watching 30 rock and it's really cool just checking our random shows from decades ago and seeing news and stuff. Keeping something like that going for 50 years is really cool.

It was always about 90% miss 10% hit. Most of the stuff in the so called golden age with Adam Sandler and Chris Farley was god awful.

The Phoebe Waller Bridge episode was kino

What are you, gay, high and retarded?

It's always been hit or miss since it's inception. Never been as good or bad as people say

How much of Amazon's money did Phoebe give you to shill for her?

why is she called fleabag should have fleas?

You misspelled 'Shane Ghillis'

No, sketch comedy is always shit

I thought it was already pretty miserable when it was just Norm carrying the show on his back while Ferrel and the rest were acting like retards.

SNL served its purpose in the 1970s when there wasn’t really an outlet for boundary-pushing comedy. But seeing it chug along in 2025 is like seeing a horse and buggy on the street.

It peaked in the late 90s/early 00s

curly burly w00han!

Ok, who was the bets SNL girl? For me it is Tina Fey

Did you really laugh at that?
SNL is painfully unfunny.
Can Anon Babble give me just one sketch that's good? One?

They're making a UK version, it's going to be an absolute disaster. Looking forward to it desu

I thought that's what the last leg was

Don't know what that is but it starts next year, it's on Sky. It will crash and burn so fast. They made a French version which aired on Thursday Night but they still called it Saturday Night Live, it lasted 5 episodes.

Pretty middle eastern noses <3

Don't look her up now then

Madtv was better and always will be

No God damn it. Even in whatever a person considers the "golden age" of SNL you were lucky to get one sketch a show that you'd have a laugh at.

Keenan Thompson has been on SNL for 22 years

Yeah and it still is

Yeah in the 90s
