Is the superior artform to tv/film in every way imaginable

Why haven't you taken the Anon Babblepill yet, Anon Babble?

he needs to read other peoples thoughts to be entertained

mogged by audiobooks

Why haven't you taken the Anon Babblepill yet

But I have. I completed Scott's Antarctic journal yesterday

Audiobooks are mogged by audio dramas

Reading Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace convinced me literature is a vastly superior medium to movies. That book’s peaks are ultra kino.

Based schizophrenic

Zoomers will tell you it's boring. As for me, I've had my share.

writing is very gay can't imagine anything more homosexual than sitting by yourself and writing down a bunch of gay words, and even worse, reading someone's gay words like a cuckold.

just like you're doing now

I rape and get raped every day, I don't care that I'm a wordcuck. You've just raped me, and I you, enjoy, cuck.

If books make you think of cuckoldry I think the problem lies with you.

pleb opinion, they are different forms of media that have different strengths. you come off as someone whose entire personality is preferring the Crichton novel to Jurassic Park.

he wrote the most words in this thread

So you’re the biggest fag?

your father makes me think of cuckoldry

no, you're the biggest cuckold, having read my longest post. low iq as well having not realized your erroneous assessment.

you dont get a great soundtrack with a book, thats why film is the ultimate art form, because its a culmination of all art forms, visual, musical, literary

society has always been separated into a small group of scribes and a large group of scrubs. neither side needs to insult the other but one of them usually looks like they're coping when they dom

If that was the case, then Wagner’s operas would be the ultimate art form. The definition of Gesamtkunstwerk.

what's shitty for me is that I remember his afterwords ramblings about how man isn't free because he can't walk through walls more clearly

Anything Tolstoy wrote is pure kino.

Post the Anon Babble pic

In the words of Vladimir Nabakov:

Nobody takes his utilitarian moralism seriously. A genius.

Most people who read it for the epic and grandiose story just ignore or skip the end. It’s interesting to read through once to see his mind and how he wrote this behemoth of a great book, but any re-reads can be safely ignored. The main story already speaks his ideas for itself.

I just read all your words. Does that make me gay?

they were until video games came

sorry, I really don't understand what you're saying
I read it, cover to cover
for me, I'm ignorant to the book's, and tolstoy's, reputation

film is the ultimate art form, because its a culmination of all art forms, visual, musical, literary

This is definitely one of the main appeals of film, but there aren't a lot of films that take advantage of the "mixture of media" in a way that shows film's superiority.

But I have

As has mentioned vidya would be that medium but in terms of artistic merit vidya are beyond both books and movies.

maybe if you're low IQ

The interactive nature of vidya disproves that. You have to let the creator of a piece of art take full control in order to realise the potential it can have. Giving autonomy to the average person through a controller takes that away.

have your wife read posts and then dictate to her your reply to them like i do

cinema, or slopnema as I call it, consumers are tiktok addicts

scrolling through tiktok for an hour gives you 1000x more stimuli than reading a book

in every way imaginable

can't see or hear a single thing

the same people who insist on 4k dolby digital 5.1 or why even watch it

>can't see or hear a single thing

Are you an NPC with not imagination?

And destroys your attention span in the process. Reading books stimulates you slower but the dopamine rushes from reading great literature is a better high than any TikTok video that could be conceived of.

he has already fried his dopamine receptors

I am sorry for you.

This!

genuinely funny

Me own fookin' son reading Arry Pottah and the Magic Tree 'Ouse?

Ok, grandpas! Get with 2025. No one reads or listens to shit-tier audiobooks anymore. Instead they pirate the pdf, clone Ana de Armas' or your favorite TikToker's voice and add an ASMR Lora filter to it and then have it read the book to you with occasional flirty interruptions and encouragement from your cyber-girlfriend/secretary.

I read around 100 books a year and it would never occur to me to make this thread. First of all, I don’t give a shit what other people are doing with their free time. Reading is a solitary endeavor, I’m going to keep doing it without your approval and you can do the same. Caring about this shit caused by social media brainrot where you needs your peers approval or something.

Secondly, movies are not books. One is a passive media which is audio-visual; the other is active media which has neither audio nor visual. They could not be any different. They are not comparable, you are not at all an intellectual for “choosing” one over the other, you’re actually the opposite, you are being anti-intellectual for writing off an entire creative medium for prejudicial reasons. Real intellectuals are curious, they seek out the best and most interesting from all media.

>can't see or hear a single thing

Picture a rotating apple RIGHT NOW.

you are not at all an intellectual for “choosing” one over the other, you’re actually the opposite, you are being anti-intellectual for writing off an entire creative medium for prejudicial reasons. Real intellectuals are curious, they seek out the best and most interesting from all media.

good post
What are the best books you've read over the past year?

Do I really have to retort that imagining and seeing are not the same things?

Shakespeare>>>>>>>all other authors you plebs

tate is the finest comedian of his generation

I've only been reading history for the last couple years. This one really left an impression

Tbh books have higher highs than trannymovies.

I love books so much bros. Since modern cinema is so garbage, I switched to this medium and it's so damn good.

not really. books will not make you cry like a bitch. I don't care how cathartic and wonderful getting to a certain point of a book is, none of it will make you cry like a bitch, literally weep like a fucking child, only audio-visual can do that because we evolved for millions of years to receive audio-visual stimulus.

reading is higher-high in terms of INTELLECTUALISM, sure. no snappy dialogue in mad men is going to amount to a good philosophy book or history book. but reading cannot even approximate the EMOTIONALISM of film. not even fucking close, in fact nothing can. all the Romantics and all their groupies could not write 1 sentence as sad as Adam Sandler dying at the end of Click

Lol dude, just lol

How can you watch Lord of the Rings, behold its perfect cinematography, listen to that magical score by Howard Shore, and conclude that Tolkien's wikipedia tier writing is a better experience?

books will not make you cry like a bitch. I

But that's wrong. There are plenty of people that have cried because of a book. Why are you acting like it's a rare thing when it's pretty common? Also when I am talking about "highs" I am talking about extremely well written moments/characters/themes, which can also be non-emotional stuff.

I've only been reading history for the last couple years.

based. This book looks interesting, thanks.

Well I can only speak for myself but a good book can only ever make your heart sigh, it’s just not a visceral experience. I’ve read a lot of books, good books. They never made me lose control of my body and weep like a fucking baby. Movies have done that.

They are both amazing art forms and there’s no reason to shut out one for the other. Still, people spend millions of dollars to make films that can only grasp at approximating the kind of life-changing beauty and depth a good writer can give you in a single paragraph, having spent $0 to do so. It’s not even close. A great book will give you what a great film will give you a thousand times over.

Because Tom sings a song for multiple pages that is totally world-building while also discrediting the whole fucking moral of the story. You some kinda retard or something? Too homo to appreciate Goldberry?

because i'm more intelligent than you

So the best parts of the book (Tom Bombadil, Scouring of Shire) coincidentally were episodes NOT adapted to the movie. Gee! It’s almost like they only exist in the book so that’s our only standard. We both know if those scenes were made into the movie they would have BTFO their book equivalent just like every other part of the story.

You have it backwards. A picture is worth a thousand words. A good scene in a movie? Worth a dozen books. No combination of words can produce sound.

The problem is that movies have also lost themselves since the end of the 90s. 99% of the movies made nowadays are cgi fest. Can you really call that "art" ? Something that is mostly generated on a pc?

how does Anon Babble feel about audiobooks?

It's a dead art form. All the good books were already written before the 1960s.

I want to read a scary book but all I get recommended is shit like house of leaves or occult fake grimoire shit and neither of them really hits the spot. I'm gonna give Ghost Story a shot apparently it's good. Problem with books is you don't know it's shit until you've already read half of it

And all the good movies have already been made before the 2000s. What's your point?

Anon Babble is not one person
Personally I like Modern Scholar and Great Courses lectures.

redpilled. his short story "god sees the truth" is like shawshank redemption but somehow more effective to me even though it's so short and easy

it would never occur to me to make this thread

and yet it would occur to you to blogpost in it

Not true, you can still get a good film periodically. You can't with books. Fuck you.

Personally I like Modern Scholar and Great Courses lectures.

you are also a gentleman of refined taste

pic is one I listened to recently. really good, the lecturer also wrote the book Mighty Wurlitzer

file.png - 608x592, 468.1K

No combination of words can produce sound

It can if you imagine it. But then you need to be able to imagine in the first place

Not true, you can still get a good film periodically

Yeah a cgi slopfest with washed out colors and censored shit. Nothing like back in the day. Kill yourself.

If you could imagine a Howard Shore or John Williams soundtrack, you would be making your post from a Beverly Hills mansion.

No combination of words can produce sound.

Maybe if you're using fucking sign language, retard. Please tell me you didn't think that was some deep phrase.

wikipedia tier

That's GRRM

You're aware films exist out of Hollywood and Bollywood mandainland Chiner?

A good scene in a movie is worth like 1/100th of that same scene in a book. Even your favorite films that have been adapted from books are frequently omitting crucial, incredibly meaningful information that you don’t even know about. You’re accepting the digestible ready-to-eat Hamburger Helper version of an incredible five-star gourmet steak meal, and you don’t even know it.

Calm down retard

you can still get a good film periodically.

I don't know that there had been a legit good film since maybe 2015 or so. Maybe Ferrari?

I am aware of that/. They still don't compare with the old stuff. The switch to digital camera has ruined cinema.

Lord of the Rings

perfect cinematography

Lawrence of Arabia has perfect cinematography. The Searchers has perfect cinematography. LOTR has decent production design and CGI.

boats are the superior way to travel. in the ocean you can go in any direction and faster than on land too. look at these plebs stuck of traveling on roads, claiming it's more convenient.

this thread basically
book and film are different mediums, you are all retards.

Op’s right, y’know.

Mad for being called out as a disgusting pseud

Take your own advice and maybe enroll in some language courses. Judging by your absolute retardation I would suggest English. It will get your further than Hindi.

then what is the plane-equivalent, einstein?

Acceptable when they are narrated by the author, so celebrity memoirs are best enjoyed in this format for example.

Otherwise I advise against them. Audio dramas, on the other hand? Ludokino. I recommend to people ITT the works of Mike Walker who does a bunch of historical dramas. The BBC in general does really good work in this arena.

You should think about why are reacting this way, it’s really weird behaviour

What is the most Anon Babble TV show other than Mad Men?

Audio dramas, on the other hand? Ludokino.

My brother. I recommend Vivat Rex. Starring Richard Burton, Derek Jacobi, John Hurt, and so many others.
Also recommend the BBC radio drama recording of Amadeus starring Paul Scofield and Simon Callow.

But that's true. boatchads>roadcucks

No it's weird to come in Anon Babble and espouse your shit opinions.

You've convinced me. Where should I start Anon Babblebros?

Ty for the reccs bro. Here’s another good one by Mike Walker, it’s quasi-historical and is basically the audio drama equivalent of Game of Thrones. I love it

Cheers

Start with the Greeks. Iliad and Odyssey. Fagles translation.

The Black Stallion. Who doesn't love a story of an animal saving soke homo from a shipwreck? Who cares if it is like 5th grade reading level.

start with highschoolcore, which basically means 20th century modernists

sun also rises

great gatsby

of mice and men

siddartha

catcher in the rye

on the road

all short, sweet, entertaining. that'll get you on the right path

Only circumstantially. If there were an incentive to painstakingly translate Don Quixote into like a 30 hour long movie, the movie has the potential to be better than the novel. Ain't nobody paying for that shit.

I somewhat agree. At least in terms of character writing, books are superior to movies. In some good books even the secondary characters are better written and have more depth than the best of what Anon Babble can offer.

You forgot the most essential. Holes. Though that might be middle school level it is fucking great. Pretty sure I read it in fifth grade or so.

You also left out To Kill A Mockingbird which was great fun saying nigger multiple times in. room full of niggers

the movie has the potential to be better than the novel.

Saar Snynder's The Odyssey will be truly "epic!"

Ey man that shit is literally mandatory reading. Or rather it was like 20 years ago for English in my state.

I love reading and writing. I've written 2 novels and have gotten good feedback on both.

written 2 novels

I won't pry but we're either published

Short stories are just as much great literature as long novels. Start with those if you don't read much, there are plenty of good short story collections available for most good authors, then move onto short novellas and then to the big boy novels if you feel like you need to prepare. Some writers that have all 3 in that order

Guy de Maupassant (The Necklace - Ball of Fat - Bel Ami)

Leo Tolstoy (23 Tales - The Death of Ivan Ilyich - Anna Karenina or War and Peace)

Fyodor Dostoevsky (Dream of a Ridiculous Man - Notes from Underground - Crime and Punishment)

Ernest Hemingway (The Killers - The Old Man and the Sea - The Sun Also Rises)

Or you can just start with the basic high school level books that you're more likely to appreciate as an adult like Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, Great Gatsby etc

Chekov and O Henry too

It won't be good, you're retarded, and I'm right.

Thanks and have a great day.

I got into reading a few years ago with Lovecraft honestly because his stories are short and fun. Then moved on to people like Kafka and worked my way up. Hesse is very good too, his books aren't that long, Steppenwolf is literally me kino

No you're an absolute moron who thinks Don Quixote can be adapted to film regardless of screen time. You're probably going to moninstrrdsnd what I mean by this too

he means that tolstoy injected all this moral preaching into most of what he wrote and that's why war and peace has those essays about philosophy and history to explain the story. most people see them as totally unnecessary because the story communicates the same ideas anyways. those tendencies became more pronounced as tolstoy got older and became a christian moralfag anarchist. all of this is very interesting in studying him as an artist and how all these traits manifested in his writing and lifestyle, but no one today really cares about those things in and of themselves. no one reads his essays about why we should be vegetarians or why marriage is evil

moninstrrdsnd

Yes I am unironically dying. Just a few more months until the cancer takes me to Hell, bros. I hope you are as excited as I am

Ya the last 2-300 pages of war and peace stink

...misunderstand?
And no, I'm right. Sorry

images-7.jpg - 316x316, 13.67K

because most books are boring

Ok, zoom-zoom

Is the superior artform to tv/film in every way imaginable

the are two exceptions; horror and sex

literature is worse at giving you an orgasmic representation of an attractive woman and it's also worse at delivering jump scares or grotesquely alarming images

they don't even have machine guns and explosions
