Why did he spare Deckard?
Why did he spare Deckard?
Because Deckard, regardless of whether he is a replicant or not, has empathy for replicants.
Lt. Natalie Portman, reporting for Rep Detect duty sir."
Because he refused to stop struggling, even in the face of certain death.
Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before
He thought of a cool monologue at the last minute and needed to tell someone.
because he was a real boy after all and bad humans were hypocrites to kill the andies for wanting to live free, and the audience should feel bad
he was gay
Because he was going to die anyway and realised he could live on in Deckard's memory by giving him an introspective monologue and sparing him to prove he wasn't just a disposable machine.
I like this interpretation.
Because Deckard was a Replicant like him.
I like this interpretation.
because its a scary thing to live in fear
deckard was in the exact same position at him in that moment-his life moments away from being over-kinship
so he grants deckard the one thing noone had been able to grant him an extension to life
also highlights deckards loss in humanity that fake human had more empathy than the actual man
Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before
It was his last choice before death, he couldn't choose not to die, but he could choose not to let someone else share his fate. It was a choice that proved he wasn't a slave, not to his nature nor to his inevitable end.
he couldnt love. every emotion he ever conveyed was an imitation
he was still learning
Why is Deckard the only replicant in the world that was made to be weak as fuck and also the only one without an expiration date since he managed to live to 2049?
He recognized that killing him didn't matter. He was going to die within minutes. In fact, if he could just tell Deckard some life experiences, that would be more fun than murder.
I like this interpretation.
else his speech would be lost like tears in the rain
deckard isn't a replicant doe
He caught a case of nihilism
He loved Pris with all his heart. His love was more real than Deckard's shadow of a fart human emotions where he just raped Rachel because she was pretty
He was giving Deckard a memento mori and telling him to stop wasting his life drinking and eating street food.
I do wonder if he regretted killing Tyrell in the end there.
regretted killing Tyrell
How about regretting killing fucking Sebastian? Everyone forgets about poor little Sebastian. He was super lonely, and desperate to help them. He just wanted to be their friend so bad. He didn't do anything wrong to them, but Roy used him then killed the fuck out of him.
Roy, Leon, Zora, and Pris were obsessed with memories. This is mentioned multiple times in the film and is a byproduct of their short lifespans and stunted growing emotions. Roy in his final moments is reflective on the things he's experienced in his brief existence and desires at least a single person to remember him as a real person. Otherwise, his life just poofs into smoke and all he amounts to is the people he killed.
He saw that there was no point to it anymore in front of his own death.
The replies in this thread give me hope for my fellow anons. Have a blessed day out there today, boys and grind it hard. Don't forget to make steps towards making babies to avoid a replicant infested future.
He wanted his final moments to live on through Deckard by saving him. He will live on through his memories.
he wanted to his bussy blown out by daddy deckard
Could not understand a word of this incredibly overrated zero action whispery closeup boomerslop. Seems way too boring to rewatch with subs
to show he had something Decker didn't
To make Deckard understand and feel what the machines feel: cold hardcore fear.
because ridley scott is a midwit retard
um, because he secretly needed to find Rachel, have her go rogue and run away, hunt her down but fall in love instead of kill her, then both go rogue to have a kid in the wild. And we purposefully designed Rachel to also be weak and easily killed during the first child birth. As a joke.
add "added to the SCP wiki" to that.
Why is Deckard the only replicant in the world that was made to be weak as fuck
He's not, though? He takes a beating from Leon that should have fractured his skull, he survives a garrotting attempt by Zhora and manages not to get his neck broken by Pris even though she's yanking his head around as hard as she can. Considering how the relicants make mincemeat out of normal humans Deckard surviving multiple hand-to-hand encounters with nothing worse than a bloody lip is indicative that he's not normal.
also the only one without an expiration date
The four year lifespan was never obligatory, just an artificial limit they imposed to keep the replicants in check. Tyrell had already solved the problems he and Batty discussed, he just wasn't going to tell Roy that. Deckard and Rachel were his attempt at creating genuinely human replicants who had human childhoods (via fake memory implants), would age and possibly reproduce. Tyrell knew he was dying and swung for the fences with his last models
to show his humanity
such is the fate of all simps
to show him replicants are superior beings
if Deck is a replicant what is the point of 2049? Sexo between humans and replicants is better than having two replicants creating life
"You see a turtle on its back. What do you do?"
he saw some lasers and shit.... tears in the rain...
Because he realized the value of life and seeing Deckard struggle to survive created empathy in him.
Because it was time to die anon
he was the last proof left of his own existence, he himself was dying and if he let deckard die every trace of him in the world would be gone forever
Because he had humanity.
Literally the point of the movie.
He wanted to be remembered and be more than a passing moment in time.
Because he was created white and hence has empathy.
