As a full timer I had a set schedule with the same two midweek days off in a row. I made 21 an hour,was scheduled 40 hours, if things were really bad we might get dropped to 33 hours a week unless we took a call in. I paid 30 bucks a week for decent health insurance. Lunch was a mandatory hour unpaid and two paid 15s.

As a coach I made 65k base with a 30% potential bonus based on profit share of the location. I usually made 20k on the bonus, but the schedule was what ever the store needed with 10 hour days.

Walmart honestly isn't bad for retail, it usually pays better than local grocery stores. My hourly pay was higher than typical because I worked in a ritzy location and had lots of experience but at least when I was there we were deliberately setting wages higher to put pressure on the other retailers to squeeze them with labor cost while stealing all the good workers in the region.

Think about it, if any one pay cheque you have $50 sent to your 401k/retirement, your employer would be adding another $50 if they were doing 100% match. That's insanely good, not every job will do that

Most companies "match" or "100 percent" dollar per dollar up to 4-6% of your income you put into a 401k. It's less common but some company's will do 80 cents on the dollar or 50 cents on the dollar or 50% matching but no limit on the percentage you can put in of your paycheck. So if you want to put 30% of your paycheck into a 401k they'd match 50 cents for every dollar that is.
