This movie makes no sense honestly

this movie makes no sense honestly

Tell that to Stephen King.

Everything super natural was just in their heads.
Not the same story.

then the only answer is that you're retarded
glad we had this talk

why did johnny freak out?

he knew a retard like you would post this thread one dayy

Everything super natural was just in their heads

It's all real and the viewer is delusional for thinking that. The first hint of it can be found cleverly hidden in this frame

It's like he accidentally fell in a 1920s portal

He raped his son for faking the moon landing, kubrick was self inserting as danny

It's literally about Jack Nicholson and his rapehouse. Remember Polanski? Who the fuck takes a girl to *another guys* home to gape and rape? Unless its some kind of hotbed for that shit. His mansion had huge parties and underground tunnels. Jack IS Jack. Kubrick cast him in a movie about himself without knowing. It's the most clever and ambitous expose ever made and nobody caught on. "You've always been the caretaker"

Think about it logically.

Kubrick didn't hide anything inside "frames" you fucking mongoloid.
Room 238 or whatever it's called is garbage.

*hits joint*
So uh, the ghosts were like, trapped souls of white oppressors whose ancestors genocided the American Indians, okay? Jack going crazy was the result of, like, a hundred years of WASP guilt being reawakened by his alcohol addiction, you following me? The child sharing a psychic connection with the negro symbolizes social progress, man. Jack joining all the old money WASPs in the photo at the end of the movie shows that he sold his soul to whiteness
That's just like, your opinion dude

montage of shots from movies promoting a streaming service aimed at pseuds who like being movie fans more than the actual movies themselves

this fucking shot guaranteed

i bet you havent even watched the shining in reverse

Kubrick didn't hide anything inside "frames" you fucking mongoloid

This post was fact checked by real Agerhead Analyzers: False

i know exactly what you're talking about

What is pareidolia?

my ex and i watched this movie twice on the big screen; it is my personal opinion that jack was able to see danny & wendy walking in the maze via the model (marking the beginning of his descent into madness) but she believed it was just a scene transition. what does Anon Babble think?

truly a brilliant mind

The guy who's mentally ill from the very start ends up going crazy
Epic twist

I mean, does it matter? the spooks were already in his head by that point, and the spooks are literal, real, not metaphors in the film.

So suffice to say, he was likely being shown by the SPOOKS where Wendy and Danny were at all times.

Pretty sure King's version made sense. It was about alcoholism and quitting drinking. Kubrick took most of that out so all you are left with is some flashy superficial ghost story.

Did Kubrick do drugs?
I mean it did, but the ending was a little schlocky with all the shock scares thrown in. Skeletons and spiderwebs? Really?

That's what I'm going to do, blast a backing techno beat and flow through mental imagery for the entire movie with a direction. Once they see it they can know.

Obviously there actually is a face there, retard

Of course it doesn't
The material came from Stephen King

The movie was a Satanic ritual.

It’s a great movie, but this is the only Kubrick movie that seems to fail in its interpretation of the source material. Without the context that
-jack is a seriously struggling alcoholic, not a “drinks a lot” kind of guy, a “drinking every minute” kind of guy
-he broke his sons arm in a drunken rage which he feels immense shame for
-the hotel takes advantage of this to try and get jack to kill his son because….
-…the hotel is a legitimate living entity that craves power
-the hotel gets power when people die in it
-the world of the shining is supernatural, and the shine is a supernatural power that the hotel wants
There’s no ambiguity in the novel, it’s a straightforward horror story. So by leaving out or only vaguely hinting at those important details, the story kind of falls apart because at the end of the day there’s no thread to anything that happens, if there’s no “canon,” interpretation (jack being crazy vs the supernatural stuff being real) then the stuff that happens in the film is just a mishmash of random events that don’t matter

Sorry, but it's still a Minotaur

Just took a fart and accident my sheet and bed use a napkin to wipe arse throw on floor and pulled cover over again now tell you this

Yes, Jack has the same powers as Danny so when he starts seeing things he doesn't even act like it's odd but normal.

Can someone make an AI clip of this where she looks at the camera?

Stephen King said he didn't like the movie because it felt cold and that his story was supposed to feel warm. I don't know what the hell he means by that. It's a horror story and the movie is far better than the book. He spends chapters describing topiaries coming to life in the book lol

Stephen King said he didn't like the movie because it felt cold and that his story was supposed to feel warm

King was talking about the warmth of the drugs he was on while writing the book. Kubrick was stone cold sober directing the movie.

King is right about Kubrick's films feeling cold and emotionless, but that's kind of his style, David Cronenberg said something similar on why he didn't like The Shining that much

It's illogical on purpose. There's a sense of unease. The building layout makes no sense, the plot makes no sense, Jack makes no sense. It's very nightmarish.

Despite his reclusive reputation, Kubrick has given plenty of interviews and he’s very candid. Anything you want to know about the movie is in this one.
Tldr the movie is about a frustrated guy who hates his life, goes to a hotel and tries to kill his family, with some light supernatural elements. It’s actually a big departure from the novel
