NU-WHO PART 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
/who/ - Doctor Who General
Let's not argue forever this time, eh?
I hate this "creating storyline by feedback/committee or what gets noticed by the media/internet" type approach. It happened a bit in Buffy (a show RTD loves) where Whedon was big on forums. It happened with Legend of Korra where the creators literally listened to people on tumblr. And now it is happening now.
Sure, a lot of television was adaptive in the past and not really set in stone but they had some semblance of ideas sometimes. Sure somethings had the same approach. But this is just gimmick, listen to feedback, pick something wild or dumb or attention grabbing. This just really feels like shit thrown at the wall, seeing if it sticks type of process and Billie will be fucking anything they want. (Then some dumb redditors who posted the dumb theory will be happy they called it when it was probably rupped wholesale from them.)
S9PS for eternity.
it's all turned out to be a huge piling of stinking dogshit
Series 9 is the Family Guy Season 8 of Doctor Who.
Just like the Doctor at the end of Lucky Day, you rush to insults because you have no argument left. Your definitions were faulty and I have helped. Thankfully, that's the end of this argument about "eternity". Goodnight!
Positives of The Reality War
liked Rani's characterisation as being superior
liked Rani's sonic
Murray Gold was good
.< Feelin tits press up against my back
I can't believe that NPH kept what remained of that Amy Winehouse cake after all these years and that they used it as a prop for Doctor Who.
disgusting spot on her forehead
Doctor Who has been page 1 for the past week. The show has never been more alive.
I swear this story changes every time it gets fucking posted
I remember one of you retards even claiming their was video of it that "got scrubbed"
I actually liked The Reality War, I admit it. But almost more than that, I love how a finale really brings everyone together (even negatively) to discuss the episode and series. Fantastic!
Reminder that women cannot play the Doctor.
This is untrue as multiple women have already played the Doctor.
S9>S4>S1=S3=S10>S5>S8>S2>S14>S15>S6>S11=S12>S7>S13, these are not arbitrary rankings, I have a methodology
Series 9 is pigshit.
P I G S H I T
There is a show Karen Gillan was in called Selfie where she appeared naked (from behind) and that clip was edited a lot. Apparently there were pictures but most of the pictures are just blurry edits of that selfie clip. Karen was drunk and naked and knocking peoples doors before she was brought back to her room.
BOOM was a good episode in the Gatwa era. It felt like an RTD1/Moffat episode.
Only 3-million-odd people actually sat down to watch it; the rest are lapsed fans or general laypeople reacting to clips, synopses and second-hand impressions in astonishment and disbelief.
Let's say there's a press release next week that RTD has been kicked off the programme and Disney are gone.
How would /who/ save Who?
If you'd cancel it for a while... sure, but how would you then bring it back?
Fantastic!
And do you know what? So was I!
73 Yards was fantastic television undercut by Davies apparently not understanding that the story's ambiguity was its strength and rushing to explain it in interviews afterwards
Capaldi wakes up in the Tardis after a gas leak.

Tardis lands in '80s Osaka.
Enter Sukeban companion.
Think Ace but Japanese and big tits.
really though why were people praising Jodie's performance when she felt exactly the same as she did with Chibnall?
Make a movie adaptation of Marco Polo starring David Bradley (or whoever succeeds him as the 1st Doctor)
Speaking about the milestone, Sethu told the Radio Times: “Ncuti was like, ‘Look at us. We get to be in the Tardis. We’re going to piss off so many people.’”
“There’s been a couple of Doctor Woke [references] or whatever, but I just think we’re doing the right thing if we’re getting comments like that,” Sethu said.
How did that work out for you then?
You may find this hard to believe, but there are people who liked Jodie's run and even some young people who are nostalgic for it now.
Minorities have been in the TARDIS since 2005.
I see RTD is just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks
Wait did Davies explain it? What was his explanation?
Was Micky written as a respected character worthy of esteem?
I see RTD is just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks
They beat you to it >This just really feels like shit thrown at the wall, seeing if it sticks type of process
Why is his face scribbled out?
It's quite easy to be honest.
You know how when you complete a video game and your character is overpowered with the best armour and best weapons. Then in the next game all of that progress resets but the story continues. Take the same principle with the show.
The story should continue but *something* needs to happen that means events of the past hold little consequence. RTD did this well in his first run by introducing the Time War. It added depth to the character while also creating an excellent jump on point for new viewers.
Well yes if you liked Jodie under Chibnall then it's understandable why you like seeing Jodie again, but there are people who specifically praised Jodie's performance because it was written by someone other than Chibnall and it was somehow different to them
ok weeb
Pretending you're the first minority to do something that's already been done by minorities in the past is at the forefront of the woke minority actor playbook. It happens every fucking time, and most people fall for it every time. Remember everyone pretending that Black Panther was the first black superhero on the big screen? Or every time that an actress gets an action hero role and goes on and on about how no other female action heroes have ever existed and she's the first and only action hero role model for girls?
I see. So what could be this new generations time war?
saves the world
It just has to be something that strips the Doctor of their power and requires them to get it back.
Maybe the TARDIS is faulty or his regeneration is stunted and he believes that he's on his last life.
But there were still white folks in the TARDIS then. It's not about representation, it's about conquest.
he believes that he's on his last life.
No because if the doctor is on their last life they would want to do the same fucking wankery of bringing back and bunch of past shit.
Moffat had a sort of idea of resetting things because Pond didn't remember shit because the crack/end of the universe stuff. That was a jumping on point a bit.
I don't care about Japan, I just find Japanese women attractive.
Plus we've never had an East Asian companion. Or a companion from outside their timezone.
On a rewatch I didn't realize the first time around how much Rose just shits on Mickey.
It's crazy how hard she cucks this guy.
Indian women are more attractive.
I just realized something.
The 15th Doctor's whole persona is most similar to the plastic Mickey from S1E1 of the show. The very shiny uncanny impostor Mickey that creepily smiles at everything and just says 'babe' 'sugar' perpetually.
And everyone in the audience immediately understood this to be creepy and unnatural behavior. Go Youtube those scenes right now, you'll see what I'm talking about.
The 15th Doctor is exactly like this. It is eerie how similar his appearance and behavior is to the plastic Mickey. Why is that deemed 'charismatic' instead of creepy?
... like shifting time by one degree?
Mickey and Rory both got shit on a lot by Rose/Amy and then got made into supposedly competent hero men
Time War Part 2: Electric Boogaloo
Never trust a coalburner
At least the doctor wasn't actively cucking Rory.
Inb4 RTD cast Billie as the doctor so he could asspull Bad Wolf being a form of The Valeyard
strips the Doctor of their power and requires them to get it back
his regeneration is stunted and he believes that he's on his last life
Pick a lane, pronounfag.
You know there's nothing wrong with that. Babe, sugar, sugar, babe, babe, sweetheart.
Have you ever seen RuPauls Drag Race? It is a show about gay male crossdressers competing in challenges. All this gay African American vernacular language has been made famous by that show. Gay men have taken a lot of the language. All the "yas queen" "hunny" "you better werk" etc. All those faux compliments and telling everyone you love them (while bitching about them behind their back) stuff. Ncuti 200% behaves like a drag queen, but that language has infected a lot of gays. Even the inflexion is the same.

Perhaps when they bigenerate, maybe the "copy" is actually made of some form of plastic?
I mean River was basically a time baby and the way it is done in the show they briefly imply/ask if the baby is the doctors (a good man goes to war). Amy is constantly called Amy Pond not Williams and forgets about Rory a lot. Rory is kinda cucked and his daughter fucks the doctor.
Honestly, why not? We had 2 in the real world.
It's clearly gone too far as a thing. We need a resurgence of anti-social creatives, who make what they think is cool, and stop trying to play to or against the crowd.
I didn't even think about it when writing because I'm not chronically online.
Enter Chibnall.
I think the difference is that Rory gets cold cock the Doctor's big Minecraft head eventually over this shit, Mickey just gets carted off to an alternate dimension
I'd rather not
As a 9 year old I genuinely thought Mickey was just a dark skinned white guy. Didn't realise until series 2.
On the other hand he is often presented as being very brave and strong. They fuck around with him a lot in Series 5 but once the Last Centurion stuff happens he's more of a real character than just comic relief.
Who is the actress? I've never watched dr who but she looks like a babe
He wakes up with a new body and a lot of his memories missing, and we just move on.
Maybe you can have a slow burn mystery about exactly why his memories were wiped, but ultimately never really explain it.
The Timelords are back, but seemingly at a fraction of their power, and resorting to scummier methods. There's a power struggle between several figureheads in their society. What *exactly* happened in the recent past doesn't really need to be explained. It can be any number of wars or disasters they have been made to endure.
Maybe a good idea to hint strongly toward the fact that we're in a new fork of the timeline, but don't really tell people.
That's the Doctor.
I had a revelation when I was like 20 that Craig Charles and Hale Berry weren't white.
RTD will subvery expectations and have her be actual Rose he is piloting the Doctor's body due to timey wimey
Memory loss is a good one.
I think they should cold open the episode and follow multiple characters all doing doctor esque things and you don't find out until the end of the episode who the new doctor is. Would be a great reveal.
A season long slow burn of memories trickling back into the Doctor's mind as they try to piece together what happened.
You've got to have him say "last thing I remember, I think I was Scottish", to drive people nuts.
People that keep track of racial statistics are usually bores.
You'd do a lot better to tune in... to robot wars.
Good Morning, Gallifreyyyy
I've got a feeling that it's gonna be a wonderful day

And he's chowing down on Rani and the whole human raaaace!
Oh boy it's swell to saaayyy
Good morning Gallifrey!
Not even Indians believe this
They weren't woke black people though.
Not sure how practical setting much of the show in Osaka would be from a budget and cultural perspective, at least in live action. On one hand I get that you kind of have to suspend disbelief of the Doctor being an Anglo-supremacist alien but if you set the 'home base' of Earth in a different real-world country, you'd have to gentrify the setting a lot to resonate with the (supposed) primary British (read:English) audience. Even setting it in Scotland or Nortern Ireland would be too much for them
This is some weird bait.
I grew up in a fully white rural English village before Blairite mass immigration, but even I could distinguish black people from white people from at least 3 years old.
I'm B8, I've got the penis of a man.
scroteland needs eradicating
Picturing her with a penis is kinda hot
there are some people who are kind of vague, and when you're a child you get confused and think they've just been on holiday, tho
Russell is transphobic, because usually he only uses the casting couch for men but then why did he casting couch that actor when trans women are meant to be women?
Every hole is a goal - RTD
Decent idea. Mind if I steal it?
I had one brownish lad in my class as a child and to this day I don't know if he was actually black, or just went out in the sun a lot.
Make it so the doctor has vanished and a fresh new set of completely incompetent (and I MEAN incompetent!) companions have to fly the tardis around looking for the real doctor. They have the holographic doctor in the tardis to help them out occasionally but most of the time he's broken. Sometimes they bump into a helpful former companion or someone similar who knows what they are doing, but because everyone is so bad they end up losing them in an accident.
I really wanted to like Jodie just like I really wanted to like Ncuti.
It sucks trying to keep an open mind about things and just coming away disappointed all the time.
Couldn't they have at least toven Ncuti a consistent outfit? I feel like the Doctor's outfit and 'silhouette' have always been a big part of identifying each incarnation
The Doctor loses their ability to regenerate and now they are filled with trepidation because their wanderlust conflicts with their fear of the end, like the training wheels have been taken off but meeting new companions and experiencing things and understanding how they are fleeting, seeing it through their eyes belays the Doctors fear of the end. (Maybe have a companion who is secretly dying of cancer or something but wants to live every day like it is their last.) In the end have some battle with whoever stole the regenerations and the Doctor willing sacrifices themselves despite having no regenerations left because that is who they are (but then of course they are saved because reasons).
Ironically Rusty decided on him not having a fixed outfit because he thought it'd make it easier for cosplayers so they could pull literally anything out of their wardrobe and just tell people "I'm the Doctor". I don't think he understands cosplay.
I'm a fan of a Doctor having a theme, and then having variations on that theme. Tom Baker generally always had a scarf, some kind of brown jacket or coat, a hat that he bothered to wear maybe half of the time, and that was about it, as far as his "costume" went.
They didn't even bother doing that this time around though. Spoopy just flat out doesn't have a look.
This is just Series 6, though
Ya lost me in the middle there, what are you saying about getting Minecraft head?
Couldn't they have at least toven Ncuti a consistent outfit? I feel like the Doctor's outfit and 'silhouette' have always been a big part of identifying each incarnation
Never even really thought about this before Ncuti but yeah I hope they don't make the same mistake again.
be perfectly happy content childless nurse, single and loving it
the Doctor makes you into a single mother
thanks I guess
Funny how the original pretty much died.
It takes a little...ingenuity.
Black doctor
final story is him cucking a guy by making him raise his child before fucking off
What did RTD mean by this?
I don’t think anon was saying the whole series should be set in Japan. They could absolutely have the first episode take place there.
I really like his outfit in the Nigeria episode, would have been cool to have gone with something like this consistently
I'd grant him supreme power.
didn't watch the episodes
so what was the deal with the magic baby
why didn't the doctor return them to their family
DAVIS
Yeah I'm sure he'd fill it with lecturing about Palestine
Yes and no. In series 6 the Doctor was facing his death and near the end was having trouble accepting it, then kind of accepted it, then decided fuck it I will find a way out with the teselecta. The doctor didn't know he was going to die for most of the season either.
But I'm saying without regenerations you can have a Doctor kind of "learning how to ride a bike again" and fearing scrapes or accidents, making it a good jumping on point as the Doctor wrestles with wanderlust, responsibility of wanting to help whilst also facing their own fears of danger without the get out of jail free card of regeneration AND having the companions help the doctor understand life and death. So I think they are completely different, hit different beats.
The Doctor doesn't know where the wish baby came from
You would think he would have ways to find out but apparently not
I'd at least give it some moral backbone
Like 99% of Doctor Who cosplayers are dressed as Baker, the most outlandish one. RTD has the complete opposite idea of what cosplay is.
On the one hand, someone should use it.
On the other, it should not be Moffa2, RTD3 or Chib0.
If the show comes back, we really REALLY need a fresh showrunner/producer from outside the fucking Bad Wolf clique, man.
Rowan Atkinson as the Doctor, except it's basically just Blackadder with a Doctor Who theme slapped on it.
Doctor Who TV is putting out... critical tweets?
x.com
so what was the deal with the magic baby
There is real life English folklore where the seventh son of a seventh son is named Doctor
In Lancashire and particularly in Blackburn there was, in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, a tradition of calling seventh sons of seventh sons (and seventh sons) 'Doctor' (forename) because of their supposed abilities as healers.[3]
So Russell decided the God of Wishes would be the seventh son of the seventh son, essentially the god of wishes born into a normal family because of the power of the symbolism of luck and wishes allowing him to enter the world.
Rani used the wish baby to grant Conrads wish so people would then doubt the wish world to crack open reality freeing Omega. Doctor stopped the plan and stopped anymore wishes before giving the baby to Ruby's adoptive mother since he didn't know where Rani got the child from.
Dew ett. Deeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwww etttttttt
Does he *know*?
giving the baby to Ruby's adoptive mother since he didn't know where Rani got the child from.
I'm glad they went this route. I really expected them to figure out where the baby came from, go back there, reverse what was done to his family, and put everything back in place perfectly. It's much more real-feeling for them all to just actually not know what to do with the baby and put it up for adoption to the best candidate they can think of.
I still hate bigeneration. They already gave Rose the meta crisis Doctor as some wish fulfilment. Then made another Tennant too for Donna. I partly expected the loop to end at some point such as this finale. But nah, Tennant is still knocking about.
I like this and to add a little more: it's with this new found mortality that the Doctor finds a new appreciation for the bravery shown by the human race.
He realises how much he has relied on the abilities of a Time Lord.
Supporting terrorists is moral?
It should be me. I've got a lot of great ideas and I grew up a fan of the show. I will be this generations Moffat.
He realises how much he has relied on the abilities of a Time Lord.
That theme is what I was heavily implying and going for. It would work as a jumping on point because the Doctor would be:
Relearning how to be the Doctor
Balancing those facets of themselves
Whilst also learning those proper lessons with facing that mortality. Having a more timid Doctor but who finds the confidence and strength to do the big thing would also be different from recent more grandiose Doctors who just give a big speech and do the thing or bluff whilst doing it.
a new appreciation for the bravery shown by the human race.
And have companions reflect that and teach the Doctor something rather than it just being the Doctor showing/teaching them. Give meaning to death and the Doctor appreciating/understanding all the sacrifices and moments around them have greater meaning.
Now imagine we have the Doctor cornered and scared realising he can't just be reborn when mortally wounded.
We could have him use a weapon in a desperate cling to life. He then ponders his life long beliefs and how they were founded on the knowledge he was never truly in danger.
Again, 100% what I am going for/imagining with this pitch. Could challenge the fundamentals a bit. Instead of the same big speach at the end, what does the doctor have to do to survive and win? What does that make them?
'CAUSE ON A DUGGA DOO NIGHT
ON A DUGGA DOO STREET
THERE'S A HUNDRED THOUSAND REASONS
WHY I'D LIKE TO PICK A FIGHT WITH DOO
'CAUSE YOU'RE DUGGA DOO
AND NOW YOUR DUGGA DOO MIND'S IN MY DUGGA DOO SWEAT
AND IT'S BLOWN UP IN YOUR FACE
AND I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE STILL SO BEAUTIFUL, UH
'CAUSE YOU'RE DUGGA DOO
What do you do when you actually need to swap out the actor though?
i'm writing an alternate 13th Doctor story with Martha Jones, who's the villain of the episode?
14 is going to show up in that sea devil show isn't he?
The dugga doos
So while all that shit was going on in the city in the finale, Tennant-Doctor and Donna were just hanging out somewhere having tea?
9 9 6 7 9 8 9 7 8 6 9 9 7 8 6 7 8 9 7 6 7 8 9 7 7 8 8 7 8 7 7 8 8 8 9 8 9 8 9 8 check em
So we're on the same page. We're spitballing here.
What are you thoughts for the cause of this loss of power?
I have no fucking clue what was going on in The Reality War. It was like Flux levels of incomprehensible; just random shit happening all at once.
What do you do when you actually need to swap out the actor though?
Restore his regeneration ability through some act of self-sacrifice. Have the next Doctor retain those lessons learned and reflect it in his behavior even though he has regenerations again.
Could've been off planet or out of time. 14 has his own TARDIS.
do these guys always ballwash the show? is this the first real critical article?
I mean ultimately you'd just make it the arc. Whichever villain/being stole the regenerations wants to finally destroy the doctor and doesn't care who they hurt, the doctor understanding mortality accepts their fate, maybe a companion steps in the way and dies instead of the doctor, they regain their regenations because another companion saves them, the doctor defeats the villain and shows little mercy (or does show mercy) then regenerates.
That's what I am drawing a blank at currently at who I'd want to be behind it.
The Valeyard actually stealing the Doctor's regenerations?
I see. That's where I would have a new villain. We've done the classic villains to death by now and they require some specialist attention to make them scary again.
Not a concrete idea but how about we create a villain called something like "the void". A nothingness but also something. A conscience universe.
ScreenRant is shitting on the recent Doctor Who finale. That's how you know RTD fucked up because even the sites you could pay to promote your slop aren't defending him.
I agree. The daleks for example need to be limited in availability. We shouldn't have entire armies of them and should instead focus on how powerful just one dalek can be. Ala "Dalek" 2005.
Fruity Gatwa buggered me senseless
Not a concrete idea but how about we create a villain called something like "the void". A nothingness but also something. A conscience universe.
The void could consider the whole concept of regeneration as perverse? Like some form of conscious dark energy who sees the natural end of things as entropy, a decline of things into disorder. And the doctor's regeneration/rebirth is literally offensive to them.
Apologize
Have 14th end up in an alternate universe. He's able to regenerate into a completely new actor. Only this time he finds himself in an alternate universe with alternate history, including the return of the timelords.
First companion or two are a motherly/older companion. Think Donna before RTD2 but more motherly/protective, and a young male college student. Someone who was abandoned by both parents when he was 4 or 5 as they attempted to kill him by leaving him somewhere due to having something like autism or deafness. You get your disabled rep, you avoid having another generic young girl companion, and you can have an older male Doctor.
Yes. The nothingness finds the constant rebirth of this timeless child a insult to natural order.
We could use the consequences of this as a way of removing the timeless child lore and restoring the Doctor to a more limited version of himself. Back to 13 regenerations.
Sup Russell
We could use the consequences of this as a way of removing the timeless child lore and restoring the Doctor to a more limited version of himself. Back to 13 regenerations.
Go back to hell, nonce.
you don't need timeless child for that, it was already ambiguous if the Doctor was limited to a cycle when the Time Lords gave him new regenerations.
Moffat is ITT and farming fan creativity to reboot his own creative process
No he's not.
Ambiguous maybe. This way we can make a positive change to the lore. We could even make known that the Doctor isn't the timeless child.
Ok ok, what about instead of bi-generation we have zoo-generation where the doctor turns into a furry based on a different animal each season?
Steven Moffat is NOT itt. How preposterous to suggest that such a handsome successful man would be here aha.
I wish someone as great as he would grace us with his presence.
SHIT. FUCK. HOW DO I REMOVE THE NAME???
And it fits in with the theme of having the Doctor appreciate life and experience real life more with no regenerations and via their companions.
A Rose is a Rose is a Rose
This man really did destroy his reputation, and for what?
It's the old adage: you either die the hero or live long enough to become the villain.
He didn't have to come back, he declined many times before. He could have had that legacy of bringing the show back and reining over its golden age. Now that's all down the shit.
At least his other shows will finally get more critical eyes on them instead of instantly getting praise just for his name. Years and Years was fucking atrocious and it was evident reviewers didn't understand it and just thought it was good because it had Russell T Davies's name on it. After this, where even the loudest shills are calling it shit, they'll surely see him for the hack writer he's always been.
I think we've cracked it. I'm compiling the notes we've made here and will start a rough script tomorrow.
Make that furry a nazi and you have a deal. That will hark back to RTD's wish to cast Hitler as the Doctor.
By the 1990s, the Fitzroy came to be closely associated with a very small group of Doctor Who fans, who held regular meetings. Many figures associated with the show were regular patrons, including Russell T Davies, Steven Moffat, Paul Cornell, Nicholas Briggs, Chris Chibnall and Robert Shearman. This small group have controversially controlled the franchise since the 1990s, beginning as prominent writers in the Virgin New Adventures series of Doctor Who novels, and going on to control production of the show itself after the 2005 revival.
How to fix Doctor Who? Ban any of the Fitzroy clique from writing for it ever again.
Squeaky clean slate.
Ban any of the Fitzroy clique from writing for it ever again.
Televised guillotining for the lot of 'em. That'd enforce it.
What are your thoughts on companions? I still feel like perhaps they need a companion who is dying of something (perhaps cancer) to also fit the theme of the season. Life/death, beginings/endings, new/old experiences.
I really wanted to like Jodie just like I really wanted to like Ncuti.
Suck it down good goy
maybe we should sell DW back to Fox again
give it to the Murdochs to sort out
How did RTD even get the who job
EDAs > VNAs
I feel like RTD really sold Disney/BBC on making Doctor Who a big franchise again and him being like the Kevin Feige of it all. And you had some nostalgic specials to bait the audience and then made the biggest piece of shit ever and killed it twice dead.
Disney owns Fox.
Perhaps a friend instead of a companion this time. The Doctor isn't regenerating when injured. He's pondering his mortality and is comforted by a stranger.
This would be a role reversal with the stranger acting in the traditional sense of the Doctor.
Even Gay Nazi Fox? Nice dubs btw
You mean Fox News? No Murdoch still owns that.
This would be a role reversal with the stranger acting in the traditional sense of the Doctor.
Literal doctor perhaps? Maybe the Doctor ends up in hospital, treated by a doctor, manipulates tech (MRI scanner or something) to find out their regenerations are gone and we end up with a doctor and a perhaps patient as the Doctors friends/companions for the season?
insert a joke or two about doctors making the worst patients
Although we have had multiple nurses at this point as companions..
RTD's VNA novel is the gayest, edgiest piece of shit I have ever read.
WHAT IF the Doctors Doctor IS the Doctor. We bait and switch the viewer into thinking this is the new companion. However, we come to a mindbreaking realisation at the end of the season that they never existed. The companion was a figment of the Doctor's imagination. A coping method for feeling powerless.
there's something quite ironic about him doing this just as Marvel and woke fatigue were really hitting a crescendo.
Sylvester McCoy said that he once had a look through one of the VNAs and was horrified
I like the idea of holiday specials being an excuse to occasionally briefly bring back former incarnations of Dr. Who and adapt their better Big Finish and other EU stories to televised form. Maybe to make it less confusing to casuals and new viewers you could have book end segments with whoever the current Doctor is addressing the audience at home or companion or whoever like “Here’s something that happened to me of a different face long ago..” and the next thing you know you’re getting to WATCH Paul McGann, etc. in The Chimes of Midnight. maybe it even catches on enough that it’d be worth strongly considering commissioning a full tv anthology series of Past Doctor Adventures.
Bummer.
McGann isn't happening, anon. He's too old now.
It was probably the one that Russell wrote.
Disney have lost so much money on this shit, with Marvel they are actively trying to course correct with the Avengers movies but still having to pour out the previously developed crap like Ironheart. Andor, whilst criticially successful, cost too much to really bring anything in for streaming. All these franchises are fucked and this deal feels like the last vestiges of old strategy.
Having a figment for the whole season? Or just that episode?
It's all so fucked.
The whole season. The realisation will show the viewer times where he's talking to air and how the people around react to it.
Wasn't this basically the idea with Jon Pertwee's Doctor? Scale back the stakes to just Earth and also take away the sonic screwdriver since people thought it was too powerful?
This just confirms RTD is a degenerate to me. McCoy is like Weird Al. Both try to get along with everyone but when even they can't get along with someone or become mortified, then that's a huge red flag.
The sonic screwdriver as people generally know it became a thing during the 3rd Doctor era.
Pertwees Doctor got scaled back 'cause due to budget reason. Also the sonic screwdriver was introduced in his era. It was the 5th Doctor era that got rid of the screwdriver.
McCoy is mortified by anyone right of Corbyn
i would have a multi-season long arc where The Doctor is a klepto. it wouldn’t be shoved in your face (not at first at least) the first season would be very adventure/monster of the week but keen viewers would notice as the episodes go on items would keep building up in the TARDIS console room. the finale episode of the 1st season would have the major revelation flashback scenes where we see The Doctor actually stealing those items. now that the cat’s out of the bag season 2 has The Doctor on the run from an Indiana Jones type who wants to get those stolen items back to where they belong. finale is The Doctor admitting he has a problem. season 3 is about healing, recovery, redemption, etc.
the show was becoming tremendously expensive having to make new sets for every story and the beeb was going to cancel it if they didn't get it under control, so the Doctor was stranded on Earth allowing them to use more conventional locations and sets. but the more stripped back storytelling style worked out great, it fit totally into the man-of-action persona that Pertwee was going for because he dealt with problems that could be solved with karate chops and ray guns and it made it all very relatable and exciting, James Bond was also all the rage at the time.
i remember when we joked about the alternate universe where instead of Raggedy Doctor, Smith and Moffat made him like a sleazy drug dealer or something, popping off to Miami in the 80s to score some blow and dance his eyebrows off.
Looking back at the fake leaks posted here. Sad that /who/ can write better stories with RTD's garbage ideas than the shit we actually got.
I loved those fake Colin Baker leaks. 6 killing Peri with a forklift was my favorite.
for me it's the one where Colin returns in WBY and gives guns to Tennant Smith and Capaldi but Tennant has a tantrum about using it and gets shot and regenerates into Ncuti
Good time spitballing ideas with you bros! Gonna sleep now. Hopefully we can do this again.
There was also one where 11th and 12th tried to kill 14th for being selfish but kill Donna instead in WBY and the story itself was suppose to be a sequel to 4th's Space Colony story.
Goodnight anon
Why were people convinced Colin Baker was returning? Was it literally all just that one set photo?
There was one anon I recall who was adamant that it was going to be an adaptation of the Flood like with Star Beast
Not realising that RTD has already ripped off that story countless times
Yeah
I don't think people were convinced, I think it was mostly shitposting
The set photo was fairly easily debunked since Tales of the Tardis had already released by that point
I still can't get over that they could bring back Nicola Bryant for that weird spin-off but not the main show itself. Imagine if it was Peri working at UNIT instead of Mel. They could have easily had the same handwavey excuse for why she's back on Earth.
Who the fuck wanted Mel to come back?
That said RTD would have ruined her character but still.
Peri mogs Mel just like Vicki mogs muh heckin Susanerino.
with no reason given and no attention called directly to it (i.e. no “i have a (blank) now. (blank)s are cool” type dialogue) i would give The Doctor a pet goat. not an alien talking cgi pet goat, not a goat that holds the secret to a great mystery, just a normal Earth goat (preferably of the classic Saanen variety) that’s constantly mouthing on random objects and jumping/climbing on top of things.
Vicki mogs muh heckin Susanerino.

Why did the best Doctor question if he was a good man?
I still can't get over that they could bring back Nicola Bryant for that weird spin-off but not the main show itself.
It's probably easier to convince actors to sit in a room and talk in-character for ten minutes than to jump about and run like the old days
Look at that kino hair on him. Beautiful.

There will never be another Doctor as cool as this.
god i wish i was the rani's sex slave
Steven, is that you?
Why did the Rani want to fuck Conrad?
the classic series was one of the only shows me and my dad connected over before he passed away when I was young, I enjoyed the new series when it was at it's peak, shame to see it turn to shit like this
Because he's handsome.
introducing... REGENERATION SICKNESS
time lords naturally only regenerate 12 times. having access to more generations has made the doctor more vulnerable to a rare timelord disease: regeneration sickness
for example lets say this happened with jodie. capaldi regenerates into jodie, then during episode 1 she regenerates back into capaldi at the end as the set up to the next episode
episode 2 and 3 is the doctor dealing with regeneration sickness and a villain on the side. capaldi regenerates into matt smith, who regenerates into tennant. can maybe cock tease the audience by having david tennant start glowing like he's about to become chris, but then the doctor can solve the episode, fix regeneration sickness, and instead of regenerating into chris ecclestone, he regenerates back into jodie and continues the regeneration as normal
not quite a reset point like the time war but i think this concept is good
which by the way let me just say would have been a much better play on regeneration than bi-generation btw

Remember how the Eighth Doctor put an end to the whole mess? He triggered the ultimate paradox by activating a certain doomsday device, erasing the time lords and the enemy from existence, and leaving himself stuck on earth with amnesia
And why did he have amnesia? Eventually he worked out that it was because his memory was full of all the data in the Matrix, and at the end of the EDAs he remembered the timelords back into existence.
Have The Doctor be a young, handsome but somewhat geeky man. The companion be a girl next door, yet babe type. They go on adventures and fight bad guys.
NO MENTION OF THE PAST FOR AT LEAST THE FIRST SEASON
Then they do a crossover with 13 and then after the she leaves The Doctor tells the companion that she is NOT from a fixed point in time. Then he shows her a video of Capaldi regenerating into him. Then later maybe show that the Fugitive Doctor was actually the Rani who fucked with a bunch of shit.
isnt this exactly the best thing? what the fand want they get.
The Enemy, also known as the Adversary, was the opponent of the Time Lords during the War in Heaven.
The Book of the War claimed that it was not a species or a political faction as much as a process.
It had a name, but the Great Houses were reluctant to use it.
The form of the Enemy was constantly shifting.
The Matrix predicted that the enemy destined to destroy Gallifrey would be unknown until Last Contact
Last Contact was the event in which the enemy destined to destroy Gallifrey would become known and the War in Heaven would become inevitable.
Might be cool
The fans are stupid pigs
doctor who? doctor who? doctor who?
what the fuck even was this crap
nobody ever called him doctor who
god i hated moffat almost as much as i hate rtd
Fans are the worst people to write shows because they take it up its own ass and lack vision.
These shitheads mostly ruined the VNAs and completely ruined nuWho.
Colin Baker
The show jumped the shark when Ian and Barbara left, and the writers had to clumsily make the Doctor into the main character which he never was supposed to be.
What people think the fans want is not the same as what the fans actually want. People respond a lot to shit things and spectacle, not all attention is good attention. But producers can't discern the difference. Also, people just want shit to discuss, even if it's bad. Also fans are weird, remember that Simpsons quote from the Poochie episode where the kids in the focus group want a down to earth realistic show that's also full of magic robots, people want contradictory things.
Creation via what you think the community wants will pivot. Imagine if you're writing a murder mystery and you set up clues and red herrings then someone guesses who the killer is so you reactively change who it was to make it a surprise. Congratulations you've completely failed at making a satisfying story because all the development doesn't matter because you changed it.
This is what will happen with Billy Piper. RTD will read all the reactions and pick the one he thinks has the most attention even if it makes no fucking sense.
Has he become too powerful to be stopped?
Palate Cleanser UNIT series.
Doctor's been MIA for ten years, Torchwood's dead, but Earth still needs defending, so a crack team of humans, Autons, Sontarans, Silurians and whatever c-list 'guy in suit' alien buddies work together deal with campy threats that aren't overly sexual, overly dark, or overly over much of anything. Just good clean military saves the day go enlist now pls pls pls fun.
THEN Season finale, it's the CYBERMEN and they're fucking bad and it sucks and the beacon chekov's gun they send out to get the Doctor's attention and he shows up and... he's Richard Ayode. And the Master is with him, played by Bill Mitchell. And they're GAY. AND AND... talking Penguin companion voiced by Jeremy Clarkson.
See the Doctor is now on his... honestly he's lost count how many regenerations it's been, he's restocked at least four times now, and he's realized, he's sick of Earth and Humans. Sick of us, and our shit, and our stupid center of reality stuff we do. So he's been ghosting us interdimensionally, forcing the TARDIS to go on other adventures elsewhere, and it's allowed him to clear out his closet a couple of times. Solved shit with the Master, Gallifrey came back, then the Guardians blew it up, then he brought it back, retcons on time things and now they're riding around with a penguin. But the beacon was live, so here they are.
The two Timelords help the UNIT team sort out the Cybermen, gay drama happens and the Master gets mad and breaks up with the Doctor and rips out a big patch on the console, so it resets back to a police box. The Doctor and the Talking Penguin fly off, and the Master grumbles and tells the humans to fuck off because if the Doctor doesn't care about them HE doesn't care about him.
Season 2, they fight off a Dalek invasion with sulky Master Mitchell drinking in Grimsby, he regenerates heroically but not before stealing a TARDIS himself and goes to go hunt the Doctor like old times, and then... the series is free again.
The Robot Revolution
planet of the incels (and some other stuff)
Off the bat, a far better opener for the season than Space Babies last year (yeah i'm still watching the show, details later), though that isn't really saying much. Maybe I'm just getting older, but I'm finding the fast pace of Davies' Second Coming the past two seasons serves only to ruin what are otherwise interesting, or at least comedic, stories. This story falls under the latter, and I found myself enjoying the moments, brief as they felt, where the premise of the episode was appropriately laughed at without spending the entire runtime doing so. (SPACE BABIES!!! BABIES!!! IN SPACE!!!! REMEMBER!!!!)
In classic Davies fashion, of course, these moments of levity are almost immediately undercut with somber reminders that, despite how humorous the situation the characters are in may seem, there are people dying, and we have to care because... we just have to. I hate saying things like that because I'm sitting here spending my time watching the fucking thing, so, yeah, I should care. I just don't. I don't care because everything is moving so goddamn quickly.
Fuck, am I just getting old? (yes.)
I found the "AI Generator" villain to be a little too on-the-nose for my tastes, though Davies isn't exactly a master of subtlety these days; maybe he's just getting old too. The only part of this episode I enjoyed was Belinda, though I think I enjoy watching her in the same way that I enjoyed watching Martha Jones. I then realized, of course, that they're both similar in so many ways that it isn't even funny. It's nice to see a companion that simply doesn't want to be there, even if it will only be a quality she has briefly. (I assume.)
But hey, at least it's better than Space Babies.
It honestly feels like it’s trying to ride of the coat tails of Big finish reuniting Rose and Nine.
brothers i will finish series 8 once i finish this season. life moves fast when you have a kid and a job

Just scrap everything and start with the initial premise. No repeated aliens whatsoever, but do acknowledge now and then that the past adventures did take place so it doesn't feel like a reboot.

s1 - s4:
doctor is just a normal timelord, no convoluted shit, everything is formulaic
s4 specials:
show adds bullshit like timelord victorious, timelords coming back, starts making the doctor special, show starts going downhill here
s5:
show starts getting high on it's own supply with river shit, now the doctor has to be special and have mystery
s6:
show starts eating even more shit at this point, pure river crap
s7-9:
steven gets a new oneitis so the whole show becomes about clala
s10:
clala leaves so that side of the story stops being shit, but now woke elements are being introduced, black lesbian companion, doctor punching racists, etc
jodie:
oh god what the fuck is going on this is the worst shit i've ever seen oh god now they're destroying the canon of the show forever oh god now the doctor was born a super special black girl who's different from timelords this is hell
rtd2:
thank god finally we can get back to oh god it's a gay nigger musical and all the stories are magic and david tennant has to be wheeled out to save the ratings and the plots are getting as shit as chibnall and oh god now billie piper has to be wheeled out to boost ratings
legitimately how does it keep getting worse
legitimately how does it keep getting worse
Because that doesn't just apply to doctor who
What you want another show that's up its own ass? We don't have writers or audience that do 'camp', slop got us in here, slop gets us out. I didn't just make a perfect nerd key to the camp and free future, I made a camp and free future a executive would want to make.
Blank template alien fun!
Time travel lore that is aware it can rewrite itself!
Military propaganda!
This is cocaine to an executive, and you're asking for your media addiction to be justified. The Timeless Child was dumb, draugr Omega was dumb, being up your own ass about love or lore or whatever was all dumb, so BE dumb. THINK dumb. Dumb is what people want, dumb is the road out of this mess, make them love the dumb to get sick of the dumb to get ready for the show to be free to pick and choose what it wants its lore to be again.
legitimately how does it keep getting worse
RTD, Moffat, and Chinball are all talentless hacks who have no business running a tv show. They exploited the wilderness years to take over.

Every single one of these things was new and interesting once. Why don't you try some new and interesting ideas yourself?
They were asking a question not saying his name.
So Belinda was raped, right? She was forced into having a child she never wanted, without her knowledge.
Imagine if you're writing a murder mystery and you set up clues and red herrings then someone guesses who the killer is so you reactively change who it was to make it a surprise.
Didn't that happen to Chibnall with Broadchurch?
I genuinely believe that RTD did the Billie thing so he could listen to all the rants on social media because he believes if they are ranting he is getting to his political enemies and getting them upset, not realising the blowback is coming from other members of the audience. He really comes from the Rian Johnson school of subverting expectations and pissing people off type of public relations.

What does the T in Russell T Davies mean?
So while googling how to to spell fitzroy I came across this reddit post trashing them. This line caught my eye:
They often insult the original (hell look at Gary Russells crap in the leaflet for the Abominable Snowmen.)
Anybody know what he means?

Apathy plague that makes everyone stop trying until they wither and die and they have to run from it spreading. So when it slowly infects the cast they comically give up and in the infected zone people are sitting around naked eating snacks and playing video games before stage 2 where they just go catatonic
a hospital that relies on quantum immortality and keeps its patients alive over and over in ever probable state until they're shuddering thoughtless gunk in beds

What do you think his friends think of him now?
I'd do another revival time skip at least for the Doctor. New status quo for the setting. Legacy is still there but isn't primarily relevant for a bit, a case of if you know, you know. You'll pick up on the little references.
17 Doctor, grumpy middle aged white man who's hiding in modern UK, or some place in UK history.
First episode can be a sping on something like the Snowman, or Broken Hearts where the Doctor has to get his groove back and find his passion for adventure and joy back again. Give him a young face to bounce off of and then have him show the companion time and space and slowly recover his enthusiasm over the course of the season. Drop hints and references to past episodes here and there, don't require them to be mandatory viewing but more like an old wizard telling stories of his youth.
Then end the season again like how Eccelston's first did with a classic but marketable monster. Not something like the Master, an actual character. But idk, something like Sontarans, not huge massive the world is gonna end stakes. But more of a down to earth War story about the Doctor getting his groove back and having to get the companion he cares for back home in an active war-zone
UNIT and stuff can show up in later seasons when he try to reconnect into old continuity more and the extent really is just Jemma Redgrave making off-hand references to past seasons.
talented

the perfect showrunner
Good fucking god no
Lux
f...lux...? i got nothin.
(Sorry for posting so quickly after the other review, I'm just posting this to catch up with "The Well".)
Nice. I think this episode helps to demonstrate what Disney money can provide as far as visuals go, and I'm not just talking about the animation work for Mr. Ring-A-Ding. It feels quite odd seeing the production value reach such a high point for the show in general when the writing is arguably the worst it's ever been. That said, I don't think that applies to Lux.
The Harbingers are kind of interesting. In Classic Who, there were quite a number of times when the Doctor had to contend with literal gods (namely the Black/White Guardian), though their presence was, mostly, to serve as villains or, otherwise, obstacles that the Doctor could not readily outmaneuver.
Of course, while the Harbingers are meant to serve the same purpose, they're not nearly as intimidating as these "old gods" from the old show. The fact that each one literally HAS to explain what will defeat them because it's "in the rules" is completely ridiculous, and in my eyes is a symptom of the lightning-fast pace that these stories have to move at now, apparently.
Despite that, I enjoyed this episode. I was quite touched by the projectionist character, Mr. Pye, and even by the Doctor Who fans, though to a much lesser degree. I felt like this could've been a mid-tier Series 3 episode, which feels like high praise, funnily enough.
turns up in the finale of season 1, does nothing but hold an ipad
turns up in the finale of season 2, does nothing but sit on a chair
LOST was arguably ground zero for this and it is way more responsible for the show's downfall than the strike.
IMHO shows should be written in total sequestration. Nothing gets in or out.
It ends when it ends.
Dude on the right was in Torchwood.
He was also in an episode with the best Doctor.
He was in an episode with Jon Pertwee?
Here's your 17th Doctor bro.
new faction proclaiming themselves the heirs of the time lords similar to the byzantines
therefore, if you were forced to keep the timeless child, the statement "the doctor isn't a time lord" is technically true
Honestly that'd be based as fuck.
At this point I'd take just bringing Romana back and having her use her old knowledge from her President of Gallifrey days to strip the Doctor and nerf him into the ground.
If you really need to justify it and still keep "Romana" good, have her do it to try and use it in a failed attempt to hold off a mysterious big bad that serves as villain down the line
Reminder that Disney only agreed to help fund the last two seasons of Doctor Who because they wanted the international rights to Bluey
An impressive trick when RTD wrote series 1 and 2 before series 1 was broadcast.
Maybe, just maybe, he is actually a fan himself so wants similar things to what fans do. I mean this is the person who spent his teenage years creating actually well illustrated Doctor Who comics, and gave up a presenting job on one of the world's most popular TV shows because he saw Paradise Towers being filmed and desperately wanted to be part of something like that. The only fan feedback he listens to is the Moff's, who is just as obsessed with Doctor Who as him.
Blocks your path with kino
I assume it probably refers to the info/blurb leaflet you get in the DVD cases?
All those River Song audios could've been Bernice Summerfield audios.
Martha's sister is there too
Yeah but she's caked up in so much make-up as the fish lady, most people won't even realize she's in it till the credits
I'd take a one-off season with her rather than Billie tbqh
Haha holy shit I didn't even realise until now that was her either
I hoped we'd actually get some eye candy but that was naive of me
Sounds gay af. Wouldn't watch.
The Well
come the fuck on man
Much like "The Time of Angels" and "Flesh and Stone", The Well is sort of a "sequel" to an incredibly popular episode (and my personal favorite from Series 4) called Midnight. I didn't hate the reveal, I just hated that RTD decided to do a sequel to Midnight and decided to completely remove everything that made Midnight terrifying. It followed a very similar formula to "The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone", which Moffat wrote as a sort of sequel to Blink, and ended up being just as much of a let-down.
I don't have anything against re-using old monsters or previously explored scenarios, you could even say Doctor Who is famous for that; but it smacks a little of desperation when you bring an old monster back and take away almost everything that made it good to begin with. Imagine if it took over the deaf girl, Aliss, making her speak as if she could hear herself. Wouldn't that have been kinda cool? Maybe? At that point, of course, you're just doing Midnight all over again.
As much as I hate to say it, I would rather have seen a beat-for-beat remake of Midnight than this. The plot wasn't particularly bad, but it was just underwhelming and sloppy.
If Chibal was given a 6 episode spin off with her, Karvanista, Vinder and Bel it might be his redemption.
He's proved that he writes much better if its a continuing serial, like Flux, because he actually has space to fit the billions of things he wants to jam into a 45 minute episode AND actually have the time for mere trifles like character and plot development.
I forgot about those awful animated recons. I guess it was Gary whining about racism or sexism in old Doctor Who.
Hello Taika.
All the backlash with Russell and how he handles POC characters and how he royally fucked over Bellinda, is just gonna make him double down if he gets more Doccy Who to write and keep throwing in black companions and or doctors until he "gets it right" and approval
He was gonna do that anyway. You're not getting another straight white male main character in the show that isn't a villain
"You're a villain! You're a villain"
WTF why are all these young white kids so villainous
>Apathy plague
stealing this for my fanfiction
The Billie reveal is generating a lot of content. RTD won and Disney will fund season 3
Here's how we save Doccy Who.

He won with Dugga Doo.
Also now the mother of Laurence Fox's children is the Doctor, people won't be able to call it Doctor Woke anymore and far right types who've never seen the show will have to pretend to like it instead of pretending to hate it now.
Dugga Doo was entirely Murray Golds decision. That's right the composer of all things made pitched the only memorable moment
Most of the fans calling it a desperate embarrassing move
Most of the "Doctor Who is woke and dying" types now praising it, because of a new female Doctor
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills
Most of the "Doctor Who is woke and dying" types now praising it, because of a new female Doctor
Are they really saying that?
It was always a problem with Jodie, not a female.
Yep. Turns out they were just nostalgia loving man babies all this time. Who knew
