last horror movies i fuckin hated

until dawn
the monkey

yep, this is going in my imaginary girlfriend compilation

Something new or something old? Prominent or obscure?

I'm the reason her hair is so stiff.

last horror movies i fuckin hated

The Awnik
The Slit-Mouthed Woman (2005)

modern, dont care if is gory or artistic but have to fun of course.

Kek, ayys learn anatomy really slowly for how invasive you guys were to Christopher Walken

why horror movies always have such low rating on imdb

cuz pansies

So much fun, can't belive I put it off for so long. Probably the only genuine funny woman in a movie I have seen since Anna Faris in the Scary Movies.

Fave Fulci film?

aenigma.webm - 1800x1080, 2.94M

Well done imo. Be nicer if she had bigger boobs, but still very nice.

right. i could barely condition myself to be slightly spooked because i was laughing so much

this takes a special kind of coomer directorial genius

Seems like a disaster movie about it being too hot to be outside would be jumped on if it doesn't already exist.

Did a little search and while not technically horror, we've got:
The Day The Earth Caught Fire (1961)
Heatwave! (1974)
Meltdown: Days Of Destruction (2006)
Heat Wave aka City On Fire (2009)

Nah... though I do like that for casting they were like "get me a girl who looks as close as possible to Jennifer Connelly"

what comes to mind for my is So-ylent Green and that episode of the Twilight Zone where the earth is heating up.

So-ylent Green

Wasn't that more about overpopulation?

It is, but the earth is completely fucked from greenhouse warming which is why they can't feed the population.
Probably the most prescient sci-fi film ever. It was set in 2022 as well.

Was the black guy the twin brother of the guy from the first movie.

Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker

Why do people fuck up her hair! The Bride is a redhead

IMG_5430.jpg - 640x620, 88.49K

How was Bring Her Back to people who watched it?

The wig is probably red to read black on film. The same thing used happen with minstrels, where they had to use red face instead of blackface for tv

have you ever seen a red head character respected besides the fat lasagna cat?

It’s the opposite. Don’t need anything but black look black in black and white. Brighter colors used to make things look less black and offer more shading. Not like Morticia was wearing a red dress in Adam Family TV series. However the set of the house was different bright colors to add different shades

when you discover frankenstein was actually purple

file.png - 700x700, 368.97K

was different bright colors to add

It was like bright pink. For most things where you're looking for something to not be completely flat, you're looking at it being something other than black.

I don’t know why they didn’t film Bride of Frankenstein in technicolor outside I guess budget reasons. I don’t think there is even a colorized versions of it

Rumor is Mia Goth is The Bride. That’s disappointing

armpit hair

I am cumming

wtf is this. I want to put popcorn in M3GAN's ass. shrinkflation.

file.png - 768x960, 598.95K

that shit seems memeable
hmmm

Wonder how much she makes from this.

The Beyond of course, which i'm learning is beloved by troons for some reason.

Seems like an odd choice for them.

Can someone put chud glasses on her

I'm getting one for the sole purpose of cumming on her.

based and high-T

hold the controller as still as you can

what's his backstory /hor/

file.png - 633x542, 467.26K

i hope he wasn't a good boy turned bad

Muh backstory. I need everything spelled out! Why does silly clown kil people! What was his childhood like. How does silly clown wipe his ass. Does he go front to back or back to front. I need this all explained

this. i think i prefer him mysterious it makes him creepier

whats with everything needing a backstory these days? theres nothing wrong with leaving things unexplained or having the very basic information you need. I just came back from Bring Her Back and all you got for backstory is a scene showing you some vague tape of a ritual for 2 secs but it goes back to the main action like 'this is a possession movie if you're retarded to figure it out by now'. I'm seeing a couple reviews even wanting more backstory and everything overexplained instead of left up to the air.

(Me)
*instead of left up to the air or leaving the audience to figure it out over time

It's funny because the entire appeal of Terrifier 1 to me was that there was aggressively no backstory or motive to Art.

You can't really sustain a series without plot and it all adds up. Eventually frachises all become bloated with lore.
Giving Art a backstory isn't an issue to me. The issue is not giving it a decent finale and calling it there.

That’s the appeal to most horror characters and they always ruin it with a stupid backstory. Did it in Hellraiser 2 by giving Pinhead an origin that makes him generic as fuck. Instead being possible beings form another domination he’s just some bond degenerate that opened the box. Did it Freddy by having him being rape baby of a thousand maniacs. Just stupid and usually end of character ever being cool. The concept of “less is more” just beyond these hacks

You can have a simple character that works like Jason wanting to protect his death site. Somehow Alien of all things got bloated despite being parasite space creatures that just want to spread like all animals do, a perfect example of clear motive that absolutely does not need backstory

how about a park Bride of Islam?

Profile.png - 474x686, 102.89K

yeah that's always a breathe of fresh air

but that would be a great concept for a horror/comedy, watching the villain in his/its mundane life...

Ok, underwhelming ending.

Bring Her Back

In April 2024, it was announced that Danny and Michael Philippou were developing an original horror film follow-up to Talk to Me, with producers Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton at Causeway Films.

How the hell is this a follow-up to Talk to Me?

it isnt

I mean, it's the next film they made.

The main girl's subplot was the worst part of that movie, thoughbeit.

it isnt a sequel, just a unrelated horror film that followed up after a horror movie

i laughed once during the film. doesn't sound like much but that beats out 95% of the movies i've seen

Not surprised Del Taco would make such a awful choice

IMG_5436.jpg - 774x427, 50.77K

where is the maxxxine park, universal?

It's a good choice. The movie has an absolutely stacked cast.

BBC studios in Compton

It says in the plot description Waltz is playing Doctor Pretorius

didn't like the monkey

man you must hate fun

until dawn was total shite though

Did they use some leftover mold from another movie?

i feel ya. movies rarely make me laugh, even comedies

kek
well, damn it. I was hoping for an actual sequel.

Legitimately awful film. It's just contrived arguments about nothing that fucking matters between people who aren't worth learning the names of. Complete and total waste of time, not scary, not compelling, not interesting, just nothing.
That said the effects on the possessed kid were amazing. Only thing that didn't make me feel like I totally wasted my time.

just started watching, it's great so far, thanks!

Looks hot

I would wife this crazy bitch in a second

Nah, I'd imagine they just brought him back because he's such a cool actor.

If I'm recalling correctly, 2 was doing a meta thing where the people in the various apartments were watching a televised broadcast of the direct sequel to the first movie which we never actually got, so the first one is fictional in the second one's setting. I do like that they went that little extra step though, and gave a little resolution to people who were left hanging by the way the first one ended by explaining that the demon outbreak was eventually contained and walled in.

I started saving up for a trip to Universal Orlando that I'm planning for next September/October. I figure around $6K should make for an ok trip, and I want to give Epic Universe a year for the crowds to calm down. I've always wanted to go to Halloween Horror Nights, and I'm finally in the position where I can half-ass afford to.

Long-running horror franchises seem to go down some variation of four paths:

Having to constantly one-up your gags, and create new plot elements to keep things interesting (like backstory) means your franchise eventually becomes a flanderized parody of itself

Keep making the same movie over and over again, and just Mad Lib the who's, what's, when's where's, why's and how's.

Reboot constantly

Start slapping your title and established characters onto completely unrelated scripts

Anyone else getting the new Mario Bava collection from Shout Factory?

Probably the only genuine funny woman in a movie I have seen since Anna Faris

True facts, excellent taste.

I'm gonna skip seeing it in theater and wait for VOD. Australians are getting none of my money.

What's your favorite Tim Kincaid movie? For me it's:
Breeders
Mutant Hunt
The Occultist
Robot Holocaust
Joe Gage Sex Files Vol. 1: Jack-off Party at Billy Bob's

Genuinely great movies...except Seed, we dont talk about that one. Gonna watch the reboot later.

Occasionally anons post and say they hate these but I loved Curse and Cult. I think I was in a great mood marathoning the Child's Play films as well because I was blown away by the gore in the original.

Really liked Cult. The remake/reboot was bad tho.

ok time to SCREAIVI

file.png - 768x1200, 1.09M

that's a tall pile of shit

Cult of Chucky doesn't have enough Chucky and I hated the ending.

Who's there? Who!?

67d02.jpg - 1920x817, 155.46K

Honestly all of them are worth watching as long as Brad Dourif is involved.

If I saw Chucky running at me doing his goofy ass scream, I'd probably just punt the fucker, what's he gonna do.

Chucky is a stealth build. If he's running at you screaming you've already won.

that episode of the Twilight Zone where the earth is heating up

The Midnight Sun with sweaty Lois Nettleton.

just came back from it.

i would give it a 6/10.

it felt to me like someone trying really hard to make an eggers a24 movie and just couldn't quite get it right.

there's weird set ups that don't get resolved, a lack of memorable visual shots which, i guess, are substituted for extreme gore. it ends in a way that's kind of unsatisfying, mostly because you expect something more, and its kind of lukewarm. if you wanted an ending where the good guys win, you don't really get that, and if you want a depressing evil wins nightmare, you don't get that either. the monster just kind of fizzles out, and you're not really sure what was resolved, maybe because the movie feels a little short compared to the character building it probably needed to develop conflicts more.

sally hawkins does a very good job of disappearing in her role. she's incredibly hateable, and the two protagonists do a very good job of being cute and being these characters that really don't feel like they deserve any of the shit happening to them. so it achieves the misery porn its going for, to see how the children are treated by her.

spoilers, but yeah, some set ups that are kind of forgotten or missed make me wonder if the script didn't undergo major rehauls. there's a scene where a ghost says the girl will die in the rain, and then that just never happens? is it a comment on escapable fate, or can ghosts just lie? theres a point in the movie where a host has to be drowned. the woman drowns the brother, and it feels mishandled, its unclear what the movie wanted to portray or set up with this, because it happens kind of quick and then the movie just kind of moves on as if he could have died any other way. its also weird how the girl listens to a message at the end about how the brother loves her, but he's just a really good brother throughout so you never really feel she didn't know that? there's some idea in the movie, and some good acting, but the directing and story itself are lacking.

Literally had x3 Chucky, x4 even.

Got back from Final Destination Bloodlines recently. 9/10. Now my third favorite /hor/ of all time. Highly recommend

I remember you. We were here together in the New Years Eve marathon threads before they stopped doing that one at midnight every year. We're goonbros.

It was filmed in Vancouver, therefore trash.

Loved it 10/10. Great performances, great script, excellent camera work, great tension and effects. Anyone hating on it can't sit still for 5 minutes without sperging out to family guy clips spliced into slime videos.

Upper Neo-Hollywoodland slop is a staple on this board. Hang yourself from a lamppost in Atlanta so your momma has a ticket to ghetto lottery.

Ashley Laurence will always be my horrorfu

I'm so suck of horror movies being about "family"
t. someone who doesn't have one

Anon from the previous thread here who rambled about acting in hyper-obscure indie horror films.

If you're bored and want to watch an interesting but cliche and sometimes technically atrocious film, I'd highly recommend this one from 2016. It's out of print by now, obviously.

group of friends break down in rural Appalachia

meet a local with good intentions who wants to help

his psycho religious brothers come home from their evening hunt

one of the group offends the brothers by saying "god damn"

all hell breaks loose

It reminds me of a modern, less effective Texas Chain Saw Massacre. It's one of those movies you need to take a shower after watching because it's so fucking gritty. Again, technically weak in a lot of spots, but it has an absolute fuckton of charm.

Fucking old Blumhouse movies seem like kino compared to what we've been getting the last few years

They're really testing the limits of what people will watch.

After seeing Companion, not any new shit anytime soon. Fuck, woke garbage which I would’ve even dismissed if the actually story was predictable ass because it’s woke. Course the faggot character is sympathetic, course white chud is the bad guy for having sex with a fuck robot

I thought Companion was fine. Just a simmered down slasher really. The gay guys were funny. Still not what I'm looking for from this next generation of "horror". It's either Terrifier gore porn or lame sex thriller.

i remember robot chicken having a skit where jason just did bullshit in his home until a friday the 13th happen

Young Victor is White

Old Victor is a Mestizo

Terrifier 3 made me laugh more than I have in years.

I really liked Leone's answer to that, having Art just sit there in a psychopathic trance hibernation state and then just pop up one day and kill again.

terrifier 4.jpg - 1453x1440, 126.48K

Kristen Schaal sex scenes

The only truly solid film of 2024

At the same time, it was one of the filler scenes that infested Terrifier 3 that I wish wasn't there. That time would have been better spent on an extended college dorm scenario instead.

Love see you chuddies have a melty

It was definitely missing some parts there, like they looked at the runtime and just went eh getting the sword and more brother stuff has to go.
But at the same time I liked all the violence in that part and same with blowing up the kids.

don't exist but based for trying

my cope is that they'll show scenes of what went down with the brother in the 4th movie

finished Scream VI

Cons

There was a pathetic "men bad" feminist angle to the whole film. Also the characters make some stupider than average decisions, you're gonna trap Ghostface but not arm yourself?

Pros

I liked that they changed it up by making Ghostface just go full Michael Myers brute mode. He was less bumbling and more intimidating.

file.png - 1024x576, 674.14K

Only seething is actually women.
Companion is the biggest woman cope of being replaced.

check parental guide

no tiddies

That's all I needed to see to know it wasn't a film for me.

There's sideboob.

Somehow more underwhelming than Terrifier 2's shower scene
