Did it really deserve 11 seasons and .. 6.. spinoffs?
The Walking Dead
First
No.
/thread
Yes.
6.. spinoffs?
... Six fucking spinoffs?
When did Walking Dead's cultural relevance die off?
its crazy cause the late seasons are pretty awful especially when Rick dies but the spinoffs are so bad they make the last seasons seem better
After season 4 they lost a lot of viewers. it became a predictable loop of running from outpost to outpost with a villain of the week added in. Fear The Walking Dead was supposed to be an anthology series about the first few days of the outbreak but the actors were insufferable.
Also

Couldn't watch any of this slop if you paid me.
Fear the walking dead
The Maggie and neagan spin off
The Daryl spin off
The Rick and michone spin off
The world beyond(the goonies meets walking dead)
Tales of the walking dead(anthology series)
Holy fucking shit six isn't even an exaggeration.
which ones of them are still going?
Dead City, Daryl's, and The Ones Who Live. I think.
did negan fuck yet?
crazy, who's still watching this shit?
Don't forget
More Tales from the Walking Dead
The Ones Who Live
That was only meant to be one season
The race mixer's husbando died
Uh. Based?
And was originally going to be a movie.
Hopefully someone is otherwise they're making stuff for ghosts.
I love zombie movies.
I have never watched one single second of any of these.
I knew they would turn it from a very very mid zombie outbreak theme to a "It's about the characters and their life struggles" BULLSHIT.
It's not a zombie franchise, never, ever EVER was.
Never watched.
Never will.
They can keep fucking off.
does AMC still even make original shows?
I am just repeating what google told me
The same kind of people who would read comics way into adult hood, people who are deluding themselves into thinking they're not just soap opera fans.
enters thread to complain about a series he hates
peak midwit behavior
how did rick's spin-off turn out? i stopped bothering when i watched one of the trailers.
I thought Rick died
The Daryl spin off
This one had a kind of unique premise but then they fell for the "special" zombies trope and I dropped it completely.
I knew they would turn it from a very very mid zombie outbreak theme to a "It's about the characters and their life struggles" BULLSHIT.
This is what most zombie stories are
it became a predictable loop of running from outpost to outpost with a villain of the week added in.
they did that before season 4
The concept cannot sustain a long form narrative.
Logically the zombies bodies have to rot at some point to a degree to which they cannot move or fall apart unless you invoke some sort of magical power keeping them in working order.
People have to eat food and drink water, canned and packaged will logically run out.
So what you are left with then is a post apocalypse in which the dead briefly walked and then shuffled and then crawled and now people have to re-learn pre-industrial farming.
Nobody wants to watch 48 minutes of people scrumbling around in the dirt trying to harvest enough potatos before winter.
Drama is based on conflict, they have to have something continually happening to keep the show going.
Look at the first two seasons of Star Trek TNG where Rodenberry insisted there was no conflict and everything was perfect - it was boring as fuck.
And then there is the capitalist motive. These shows are watched, they make money, so the studio says make the number go up by making more of it. Dragging this out endlessly rather than ending it.
Season 1 was great until they got to the CDC. I stopped about two episodes into season 2, I could see how it was gonna go.
I’ll take 1,000 Walking Dead seasons, series, spin-offs…
If CSI, Law and Order, Chicago Med/Fire, NCIS, and all these stupid procedural franchises can pump out slop left and right, I don’t mind if they released a regional spin-off in every market.
There is seemingly a well organised central authority in control of much of France that has the technical capability to send a freighter across the North Atlantic to trade with settlements
But also rebel opposition freely roams its territory and outlying soldiers have to resort to flint and caplock firearms
And it is led by a museum cureator with no prior experience
Like the whole thread isnt complaining about it. kys.
season 2 had a bottle neck with the budget being cut yet the episode count being the same, this is why there are several episodes that consist of 1 or 2 people wandering around in a swamp - they couldn't afford to do anything else

The concept cannot sustain a long form narrative.
It could if done by someone with vision, say in the vein of Babylon 5, as a show with a 5yr or so arc with a dedicated beginning middle and end. Well thought out and written, could have everything, zombies, post apoc struggle, more zombies, problem solution resolution arcs, culminating in either an end to the threat or the end of the cast. That will never be done though, for the reasons you state.
Yeah but those shows are entertaining.

This many seasons of slop is entertaining? Brainless content.
he is?
Law and Order and NCIS is entertaining yeah
I'M A BETTER LEADER THAN YOU RICK
HERSHEL MAN M'ASK YOU SUMTHIN
Bless Jon Bernthal
Morgan returning and becoming the writers' darling ruined the show. People put up with it for season 6 but it just would not stop and anything else going on stopped being good enough to put up with it. By the time he was gone people were checked out.
blew big donkey dick
ep 1 is bretty gud

rick meeting his son was so awkward. i swear that kid is special needs
rick with judith reuniting felt like rig was thinking 'i wish i was with the crm right now. this isnt carl'
they encounter travelers who apparently have 0 survival skills a decade into the pocalypse
jadis gets bit by a zombie IN THE THROAT and monologues for 6 mins after this
lol thanks for the summary m8, i'm glad i didn't waste my time on this.
All 3 of those are 6 episode 1 season shows. The are meant to complete the story arc of the characters they feature.
Daryl has a second season and a second season of Dead City just started. Ones who live is a miniseries and is only like 3 episodes though.
Fuck no. It barely deserved the 3? seasons that were half decent. I can't believe they milked it for so long. I remember standing in some guy's house while my friend finalized the purchase of one of his cars, watching a portion of an episode from season 8 I think of TWD over his kid's shoulder. I had no idea what the fuck was going on and it looked even worse than the worst episodes I remember from the first couple seasons.
Well color me surprised. I thought each spinoff was a 1-off. I'll have to watch em.
Did they ever explain why zombies appeared
