I recently went to a test screening of Fantastic 4: First steps and I'm going to share the ending on here.

The battle between the Fantastic 4 and Galactus reaches a point where Sue Storm and the Silver Surfer are in a 1v1 and they both have a lengthy conversation whilst fighting [/spoiler

[Spoiler] The conversation is a deep take on femininity, motherhood etc. Silver surfer recounts her time as Shalla-Bal and Norrin Radd and how she was pregnant (like sue was )before galactus made her into the silver surfer and this makes Silver Surfer join the Fantastic 4's side after empathizing with Sue [spoiler/]

Silver Surfer pulls a magic cube out of her surfboard and tells the team that using it will destroy Galactus but also this universe. The team is left with no other choice than to use Reed's multiversal ship to escape. Silver Surfer flies directly into galactus and there is a massive explosion that cuts to black. Her fate is unknown

The Fantastic 4 ship was damaged in the process and is arriving in the main marvel earth without a way to multiversal travel

Post credits reveals that Silver Surfer survived and made it to the MCU, Dr Doom doesn't appear at all in the movie or is even mentioned or hinted at

Do they ever explain why they made these horrible casting decisions? Why the Thing sounds like some dude? Who even asked for this garbage?

thunderbolts credits scene (people here liked it and I had 3 hours to kill between a doctors appt & a meeting don't start) had the F4 ship arriving on earth while the new avengers watched from a satellite.

I highly doubt the actual movie ends with their universe being destroyed or them being forced to leave. Marvel wouldn't purposefully spoil the ending to their movie before it even releases. At most it's acknowledged in a end credit scene, but no way that's how the story concludes. The heroes escaping to a new universe seems more like the inciting incident of a new Avengers film rather than the finale of a movie.

I also agree. It's bizarrely bleak for a superhero movie and also makes the F4 seem incompetent in their premiere movie. The leaks, which came out before the trailer but line up with it perfectly, also say it doesn't end with their universe getting destroyed.

Why? How is that different or worse than capeshit that deals with themes of masculinity/fatherhood (MoS, Thor, GoTG 2, Black Panther, Logan)?

They should use the next five films to slowly corrupt Reed and have him lose everything so he becomes the new big bad.

It's funny how they spoiled the ending of F4. Sure you don't know all the beats, but there's really only a couple possibilities which could explain that scene.

i saw thunderbolts and liked it, i have no strong desire to see this though especially knowing they will end up on mcu earth anyways

because just like the examples you mentioned it wont be taken seriously at all. Judging by the Lilo and Stitch remake Disney is still actively hostile twoards the family unit. its the reason why Sue is the leader instead of Reed.

We know there is gonna be a FF vs X-Men fight in their universe . The Xmen aren't part of the MCU. I don't see them jumping from their universe to the MCU.

They seem to have abandoned the ironic quipping for this movie though. Even Human Torch isn't cracking jokes in any of the trailers.

the ff vs x-men fight is in doomsday, not in the FF movie. In doomsday, the ff and sam's avengers team head to the x-men universe to bring back monica and fight the x-men.

It only works because Reed is such an important character in Marvel as the supergenius that seeing an evil autistic one has an amusing gimmick. Sort of like Injustice Superman or evil Batman.

It would ironically work better in the MCU with Evil Tony Stark which seems to be what they're doing with Doom anyway.

It was camp and gay but the cast was alright. They actually felt like a "family". Silver Surfer was fucking perfect. Atleast Doom looked like Doom when masked up. The fact they've just redone that movie with a shitter cast and female surfer is gay

But why did they need to kill THE WHOLE UNIVERSE? I mean, accept the fate of Earth and let the other aliens live their lives, maybe join them and one day they will defeat Galactus. Does the movie gives a reason for such a drastic measure?

Silver Surfer was actually perfect in that movie.

They looked the part alright, yet outside of Ben they didn't really grasp into the characters. Reed and Johnny we're caricatures of their comic selves, and Sue was reduced to merely eycandy. Surfer was indeed portrayed well, so I don't really mind the change given that Shalla Bal is a lesser character that wouldn't require much screen time, unlike Norrin, and this film isn't centered in the Surfer.

The only reason this makes sense is because the "reshoots" they've been doing for this film involved shooting scenes of the Silver Surfer actress. Normally they shoot the post credits scene of a movie close to when the film comes out, so if they were filming a "silver surfer arrives to Earth 616", I can buy this

The new film could end up sucking but it wouldn't change the fact that the '00s duology also did, and we're nowhere near what an FF film should be.

It already leaked that the FF save their world by the end. Plus, post credits scenes are edited into the film in the last weeks of production and aren't shown until late test-screenings.

That doesn't really contradict imo, its very obvious that Galactus is going to be willing to spare the world if the family give up the baby and the world are going to turn on the Fantastic Four for not complying. I could buy that the problem Reed has to solve is not defeating Galactus, but how to save the world after defeating him. Could be a good subversion making winning the battle all but assured but not being able to deal with the consequences without letting people die
