probably true, it's still technically one of there most viewed shows. But that's like being the shiniest turd in the toilet bowl since NBC, CBS, ABC are all going downhill in viewership.
I don't think the "youtube ad model" for there old skits is gonna make much of an economic impact for them. It's an expensive show, how many SNL skits with ad's have you watched in the last six months? Probably barely any.
Younger generations aren't watching any, they aren't even aware of the show.

The more I look at this the funnier it gets.

The vibe the show has had for years (not saying it’s true just saying it’s the impression I get) is that for the cast they don’t hire the funniest people, they hire the people who resonate with their target demographics. And for the writing staff, I’d like you to picture your 8th grade classroom. Try to remember all the kids in there and their personalities. There were athletic kids, emo kids, outgoing kids, shy kids, smart kids, dumb kids, and funny kids. Usually, the funny kids were funny as a means of survival. It was a tool to dispel tension and appeal to others. If you were casting a comedy show and selecting from these people as adults, who would you pick? Because they don’t pick the funny kids. I don’t think a career in comedy should be a reward for getting straight A’s. And that’s the vibe of the show.
