Until Dawn Edition

Had a fun time with this one. It's schlock, but it knew what it was and was pretty ephemeral

It has nothing clever up it's sleeve plotwise but all the practical effects are fun. Sandberg is a good director.

Zoomers know how to use a 50-year-old telephone, a two-way radio, and a VHS player.

kek they really should have gone for the "how the fuck do you dial on one of these?!" joke. missed opportunity.

It has now been 3 hours and the suspect has refused to answer any questions.

The more I rewatch Day of the Dead, the more I pick up on the finer details of it and notice things I didn't pay attention to before.

The other day I was rewatching the scene where Logan is trying to get Bub to remember how to use a telephone, and he has him pick it up and tells him to "say 'hello' to your Aunt Alycia." I used to just think that was a random, basic thing to give him to say, but it's shown that Frankenstein had a controlling mother that left him with a lot of trauma, and you can see that the way he controls the zombie specimens is based a lot on how his mother used to talk to him. That scene is just another example of it, the kind of thing you can imagine a mother telling her child, what his mother would command him to do. "Say hello to your Aunt Alycia."
The other scientists think he's brilliant and making important discoveries, but all he's really doing is relishing in the fact that he can do to others what his mother did to him. Rhodes is the one who teases out that he's just a sicko wasting everyone's time to live out his fucked up fantasies.

It's been so long I can't remember it at all.
I need that "of the Dead" film guide so I can do a zombie marathon for October.

any films about killer trains?

They should do a gender flipped NOES reboot. Think about it, Englund is too old at this point to play Freddy. And it would be female child molester representation.

Until Dawn was pretty decent, had low expectations because the trailers were meh but it was mostly shitty editing that was not in the actual movie.

Anything to do with the game?

worth watching for Rubin

Kino. It was quite dark though.

Other than the title, no.

Plot was fully original but there was a picture of Josh. Not a random easter egg but in an important scene.

Scream 5 was pretty good.
What's everyone else watchin.

I did not care for Halloween III: Season of the Witch

it insists upon avoiding itself

there is a universe out there where they made a proper Until Dawn movie complete with original cast

I don't know why they didn't just do this. You wouldn't have to do any writing coming up with a new story. I'm pretty sure all of the original cast are proper actors. They'd all be familiar with the script and other than maybe Rami Malek, I can't imagine they'd cost that much.
It's like the easiest movie to make ever.

most of these games wouldn't translate to a 90m movie though. they're leaning on the pick a path game aspect.

According to speedrun.com, the quickest you can beat the game is 3 hours and 45 minutes. That's plenty of material for a 90-120 minute movie. Of course you then have the alternate paths too that you can mash together to make the canon movie path.
There's more than enough to go off of.

it's not the lack of content though, it's more the opposite. like a book. games work because they are stretched out over a long period and can give each character a mini arc, and switch to game stuff any time the story has a lull.
a film needs one solid story arc the audience is invested in.
this is why I think the best Silent Hill adaption needs to be like 3 hours long.

I’m finally going to watch Longlegs today. I was so excited for it when it was coming out that I genuinely couldn’t wait and was losing my mind, then life happened and I just never got around to it, weirdly. I’m still excited though

It's a bit all over the place, but worth a watch for the good parts.

Yeah I’ve heard mixed things which is what moved it a bit down in my priorities but I’m sure I’ll like it

Has anyone here seen Tag/Riaru Onigokko (2015)?
I saw a clip while scrolling on TikTok and it looked fucking bonkers in the best way.

No, tranny.

yeah it's pretty wild

Stop obsessing over trannies before you form some kind of projection obsession.

recommend me some horror bros. maybe some found footage?
just watched this and it started off interesting then turned into a snoozefest

file.jpg - 1500x2202, 273.96K

yeah it's like 3 movies trying to fight each other.
watch Ghostwatch if you haven't seen it

will check it out thanks

Scream 5 was pretty good.

It's in my top 3 of the Scream films. The only thing that's shit is the reasoning of the killers but thankfully MM goes frothing-at-the-mouth nuts to distract you.

What's everyone else watchin

I re-watched Coma (1978) last night. It really is fucking great.

Absolute abominable garbage, only redeeming part was them exploding from the water. The rest was boring, uninventive, unfun and just stupid.

Is that Reina Triendl? Everyone's fav hafu...

I don't watch films with bug women.

what was going on in the recording that Sarah finds near the end?
was Frankenstein talking to himself as his own mom?

I love women so much it's unreal
