Be honest bros, is it worth watching?

Be honest bros, is it worth watching?

No

I think about watching it for a second time. Finished my first watch about a year ago. My sister watches it fairly often. I can hear it playing from underneath her door.

It's the kind of show that redditors would love while calling all of them male characters toxic misogynists

What does she like? Isn't it a bunch of guys constantly cheating on their wives?

it's a good show to watch with the bros, it's fine, first few seasons are good but it gets kinda dragged out

Yes.

Yes. It's very good.

No

Seasons 1 and 2 were great, 3 sucked. Just starting 4.

No, it's not for zoomers.

Isn't it a bunch of guys constantly cheating on their wives?

It's more about advertising. Then that also happens sometimes. She likes Mad Men. And Musicals. She's a "lesbian" but her last "girlfriend" was trans. She's an idiot, but she's my idiot.

It's just a bunch of old people talking

4 is really good.

The suitcase was one of the best episodes.

i hope so, i just started watching it w my dad

I recommend Mad Men. All of the seasons have at least some good episodes, and plenty of decent ones, with fewer of the mediocre sorts. I also enjoyed watching the fashions gradually change from 1950s-like at the start of 1960 to appearing every bit of the early 1970s.

there's a lot of stuff with the main character that's basically softcore porn for women.

anyway, it's okay. worth a watch if you're bored. the quality of the writing isn't on par with the Sopranos, which it gets compared to a lot. but the set dressing and general aesthetics are really good, and there's some solid performances. there's worse stuff to watch on tv.

Explain

you'll know it when you see it. Don is a womanizer but all his sex scenes are clearly directed with the female gaze in mind. there's one light bdsm subplot in particular where it feels like somebody just read 50 shades of grey and was like, we need to get this audience.
there's also quite a bit of feminist dialogue, empowered female characters, and while the men are adulterous and abusive it's not portrayed positively and is usually used to critique the treatment of women in that time period, sometimes a little heavy handedly. it's definitely a woman-friendly show, it's still good though.

the 60s were bad because… the heckin racism and toxic masculinity

Why Anon Babble likes this garbage I’ll never know

It’s even better the second time around

the people have spoken

yes
booba

post her tits

I thought it was really boring and only had one good episode Shut the Door. Have a Seat.

I don't wanna see Layne go that way again. I liked him.

That episode was a departure,

The show is a character study mainly.

No. It's a soap opera. Quite literally. The writing and dialogue is really cheesy. The acting is bad. The 60s setting is completely unrealistic and its handling of sexism and alcohol in the work place is so cartoonish and unconvincing it's more like a wacky parody from someone who wasn't alive then, than a legitimate drama.
The advertising setting is just a backdrop for relationship melodrama. Total waste of opportunity and close to a bait and switch.

The only positive thing i have to say is the sets looked pretty good.

I cannot believe people put it up with the sopranos. It must be an ironic meme.

This.
The Sopranos is an elevated soap opera. Mad Men is just a soap opera. I don't hate it, but it's nowhere near the same tier of quality.

Any kino soap operas?

It’s fairly realistic.

There was a lot of drinking at work then, especially in sales.

Once again I am forced to ask, name one good tv show that isn’t a soap opera

It's one of the only shows that is good from start to finish.

season 1, maybe, but having watched the whole thing I found it to be a complete waste of time, and you feel like a worse person after.

You can’t make this up

Sure. Although it can get a bit repetitive.
Much like Breaking Bad, it has somewhat of an annoying blond bitch wife whose scenes drag on a bit too much, and some of the b-plots feel pretty pointless and never goes anywhere. Especially early seasons.

Still worth watching for characters like Roger.

It’s better than the Sopranos and Breaking Bad. and Pete is /ourguy/

What the fuck do you think, faggot! The show's had a thread every damn day since it dropped.

There is no actual plot. It's just a slice of life about office people in the 1960s.

came here to post this

Mad Men

this show actually gets better after 4th re-watch or so

Retard

If you like soap operas.

It's great, at least when you skip the Betty and Megan parts.

Every tv show is a soap opera. This is the best one

No, its subversive crap and really boring

its human drama. shit is compelling. has been for millennia.

Its much much worse than breaking bad.

can we finally answer the question: who was in the wrong?

It was obviously ___Peter___

It's much better than Breaking Bad, but not as good as The Sopranos.

on a recent rewatch I stopped on the suitcase and checked the IMDB ratings and wasn't surprised to see it was the highest rated one. something about that episode makes it special.

also never filled the void finishing mad men did, then again ive never seen GOT or breaking bad

It's better than Breaking Bad and the Sopranos. But it's not as good as Better Call Saul.

mad men is a hedonism show disguised as post-modern critique of the 60s

It is objectively mid. It has shitty outdoors shots that ruin the immersion and world building. At least the first three episodes, didn't watch the rest but I don't think they get better.

No fucking way, m8

It can get very soapy at times. I just fast forward all the scenes that don't take place at Mad Men Headquarters.

kek i thought i was the only one. i only like the shit in and around the office.

Glen almost ruins the fucking show, though I am aware thats not a unique opinion.
