Just how bad was season 4 of The Boys?

The writers think that male rape is funny and although the politics of this show have been apparent from the start, it’s gotten progressively worse each season. The agenda is very apparent, and before someone says that was obvious from the get go Trump winning clearly sent the show spiraling. The part that sucks is the show still has great moments like all of Soldier Boy or occasional scenes of Homelander homelander slaughtering people after bringing the them a fudgie the whale cake

The first point doesn’t hold up because there’s clearly a significant decline in writing quality in Season 4 which has made the show unwatchable. While the show isn't Resident Evil or Velma bad, its still fucking bad. The second point also is retarded considering that both Seasons 2 and 3 had much stronger finales.

The writers aren't consistent about how evil he's supposed to be. It confused me in the cartoon when he was 100% trying to save everybody and resolve the hostage crisis

Both Homelander and Soldier are supposed to be clearly sympathetic but you are also supposed to feel that they need to be stopped.
Arguably they succeed with homelanders in that regard, he is sympathetic but he is also out of his mind half the time so he clearly needs to be dealt with.
With soldier boy, they unfortunately succeeded a bit too much with the sympathetic part, perhaps because although a parallel to Homelander, they also wanted us to view him as the lesser evil.
The problem here is that nothing Solider ever does makes anyone feel that the guy needs to be put down the same way Homelanders does. If anything, everything points towards the idea that Soldiers Boy could just be left on his own, and with some therapy to control his outbursts, he could live a very normal life of fucking old ladies and smoking weed all day while catching up to everything he missed while imprisoned.
Even the stuff he supposedly did before his imprisonment is either not that bad, just rumors with nothing solid, or clear accidents.
The scene where he kills the priest and the nun could have been a great example of why he needs to be contained in some way due to his paranoia, but they went out of their way to prove him right yet again.
Homelander I get what they are going for, Soldier Boy makes no sense, in the season 3 finale they treat him like he is no better than Homelander when Soldier Boy is more comparable to Starlight than Homelander.

The show had potential for maybe the first like 1.5 seasons then turned into just straight Seth Rogan horse shit. You can literally feel his horrible writing and need for shock value and use of continuous curse words that dont even have a place in sentences. I stopped watching after the first episode of season 3.

I didn't watch it I choo-choo-chose to watch people make fun of it after the season was over instead. Probably the best way to consume it.

When I watched the beginning of season 1 I assumed that the meat of the show would be a sort of "ragtag group of misfits who are hilariously outgunned figure out creative ways to kill superhumans punching way above their weight" thing but they abandoned that almost immediately. It's comical once you look up how many top-tier supes The Boys managed to intentionally assassinate with their wits.

In season 2 they killed two nonames that had nothing to do with the overarching plot.
In season 3 Butcher killed Gunpowder while juiced up on V
Season 4 Ezekiel and Neuman were both killed by Butcher's V-Venom. Hughie's dad was a self-inflicted problem that got resolved immediately and the ass-eater got crowbared.
