that only works because you are engaged by the gameplay. the whole way the audience experiences a story depends on connecting with the characters we're following.

HBO are behaving like they test-screened S02E07 and it works for audiences. but we'll have to wait to see if that translates into enough people actually sympathizing with Abby OR Ellie given that they're both effectively going to be multiple murderers after this episode.

Jesse probably shouldn't even have been a lead character who came to Seattle. it should have just been Tommy getting wounded.

both of the strong male characters get shot in the head in one scene and both the strong female characters are incapacitated and left for dead. then the situation is resolved by just cutting to Ellie waking up on an idyllic unprotected farm with everyone being physically recovered. its great writing. /s
