Frasierbros, what went wrong?
Frasierbros, what went wrong?
It’s because I didn’t watch it. Sorry mates. I just didn’t think it was worth keeping a Paramount subscription after season 1 ended.
the format is for network television, not streaming
The world has moved on from the musings of a faggot and his high brow condescending smugness. And everyone knows Eddie was the real star of the show.
Oh, yeah, I forgot they tried to make more Frasier.
Wasn't Frasier the only main cast member to return?
Big bang theory tier jokes. The characters didn't make sense the acting was attrotious with the exception of grammar, legacy characters, and the drunk British guy. No Niles definitely took a huge hit and all the show relied way to much on a character who doesn't resonate in modern times anymore. It's sad, I really like Grammer, cheers and fraiser.
they added new elements and every single thing they added was bad. except rodney.
the show itself also looked and felt considerably more hokey and dated than the original show ever did. the sets and casting were just too sitcom-y. his new apartment was fucking hideous.
I prefer to just rewatch the first several seasons of the original run.
Should have rebooted cheers instead. All those actors are amazing and a modern bar setting with young kids and cell phones shit music could have been satirised beautifully with boomer perspective from the characters.
Get on it paramount!
wew lad
Even now I'm mad that Niles and Martin didn't return. It's ridiculous when actors refuse to acknowledge the one thing they're famous for, neither actor had a career prior to (or after) Frasier. Yet they thought they were too good to come back for the reboot. Fuck both of them.
Reboots are designed to entice investors of streaming platforms and nothing else.
No Niles no watch
yh
It wasn't Frasier. It was like the Joey spin-off, I don't want a new setting and all these new characters.
Joey spin-off
The what?
As someone who still regularly rewatches the original Frasier, I had no interest in this reboot and didn't watch any of it.
Would be curious to know if other Frasier-enjoyers were the same.
What's more depressing is I think Season 2 the show figured itself out and was really fuckin good. It got cancelled because Season 1 was dogshit.
Yeah, I wasn't really excited at all. Fraiser is in my top 3 shows of all time. It was out for months before I reluctantly gave it a shot, but not even out of want more just curious how bad it was going to be and I was disappointed just like I thought. It was a mistake.
My advice, don't watch it, it will just take away from the original.
Watched a few episodes with my mom. We're both fans of the original. We both thought the new one was fucking awful and stopped watching it.
My big problem with the original Frasier is that there wasn't enough Lilith, I would expect the same is true for this reboot.
there can never be enough Lilith
She was in the Julia Childs show on HBO.
young kids and cell phones shit
I go to a bar with boomers in it and more of them are on tablets, cell phones, and those weird electric slot machines than anyone else. The younger crowd is more engaged with each other.
the head writer has a tranny son and protested outside Netflix HQ because they aired Dave Chappelle's standup special
They made a spin-off after Friends ended and it was about Joey moving to LA. Complete flop.
Good point. I'll have to concede on this one. Didn't really think it through. Just spitballing, anything would have been better... well... not anything, but you get it.
Big bang theory tier jokes. The characters didn't make sense the acting was attrotious with the exception of grammar, legacy characters, and the drunk British guy.
This.
It wasn't very funny and trying to just redo the old show but with the roles reversed for Frasier and his son didn't make much sense in the first place.
What they should have done is use the idea of him having his own Dr Phil style talk show and built the reboot around that, and called it 'Dr. Crane'.
You can never go back.
My pitch for a Frasier reboot would have been him getting ponzied, losing his radio gig, and him spending the last of his savings building a podcast studio. Then his podcast is flopping until he starts pretending to be super conservative.
His son was in it? What was he like?
In the reboot they made his son an annoying prick for some reason who had also become a firefighter, the guy playing him seemed to have about one facial expression of irritation every time Frasier did anything.
I think they were attempting to reinvent Freddy as a 'Martin' type character, but it didn't work because in the original Frasier, Martin being a grouchy old guy made some sense given his circumstances.
Even now I'm mad that Niles and Martin didn't return
and Martin
OooOOOOoOoooooOOoOooooO
WHERE'S MY STICKY?
oOOoOoOoOOoooOoOOOOoOO
It was shit. Woke shit.
kek, this could have been really good
No comfy apartment

He's left the building...
And left behind tossed salad and scrambled eggs.
How YOU doin?
The original was pretty much French farce built into a US sitcom format.
Many of the key elements that made the original work (even though on paper it shouldn't) are missing from New! Frasier.
Imagine quitting Sopranos for this.
Fuck they're old. How did that happen?
Show is popular.
Show comes to a natural end, the cast and crew decide to go out on a high rather than run it into the ground.
20+ years later..."member that thing...let's bring it back because nostalgia."
It comes back and is shit, and it ends up being embarrassing for all involved.
I liked it. Didn't love it.
It was new and not much like the old Frasier, so I just looked at it as something new and different.
As someone else mentioned, s2 improved on s1, but it was too late. I was shocked that I actually liked the new cast, including not 1 but 2 black females. It wasn't woke at all. The most annoying character was Niles' autistic son, who did feel straight out of BBT. Freddy was a decent foil for Frasier. There was some slop, but it's only 20 episodes and definitely has some laughs. I might rewatch it someday.
many such cases!
Should've been single-camera show with no laugh tracks, like Curb your Enthusiasm
Fraiser was never good
Freddy being a hot firefighter I think was an insanely bad direction. If anything, Freddy should have been as snobby as Frasier at his peak, and a mellowed out Frasier helps him find a better balance.
Fraiser was never good
Too intelligent for modern audiences.
