Yelena is really emotionally weak and very vulnerable, which counters the strong woman part of the character, making her an actual charcter at all.
It'll have more longevity than the last Captain Falcon movie, at least. The team are fun, and I've already seen fans start making fics and art like it was the old team in Avengers tower.

The hiroshima-ing effect was legit pretty cool. The lack of it being a flashy spectacle helped make it spooky.
i liked the bit where the black shadowing of the city covered up the whole screen, turning it black too. and void being just utterly impassive to everything instead of evil was so much scarier than him being a reddit nihilist

I think it’s more that the countersignalling crew didn’t come out to defend it. Even the Marvel drones on other sites just shrugged their shoulders. Due to the cast the studio couldn’t pull a “downvoted because of 100 million online racists” storyline.

Biggest problem here isn’t that the movie was offensively bad, it’s just meh. Could have been a tv show. Maybe it was at some planning stage even. Same crappy “talk him down” ending as the prior movie. Better executed here but still undercut when the movie isn’t very good and they just did it.

Captain Sam was filmed and refilmed 3 separate times over the course of 5 years. The costs of that film dwarf the cost of Thunderbolts. Thunderbolts will draw profit, because the conception that a film must always make 3x it's budget to be profitable is

I watch that number creep from 2x to 2.5x to 3x over the last 5 years, people just tell themselves whatever to satisfy the thread premise. Hollywood purposefully goes over budget. And many times the cost is subsidized by grants and film credits. Hollywood accounting is a real phenomenon.
It's all smoke and mirrors and massaging the numbers. It's wild that there are times where movies purposefully bomb but everyone gets out of it with oodles of money regardless.
