What's the bleakest movie you've ever seen
Lovely Bones. Pedo fucker got off way too easy, and that poor [spoilers]girls body will stay down there forever unknown, locked away in some safe.[/spoilers]
Nice spoiler tag, newfag

Days of Eclipse (Sokurov)
Come and See (Klimov)
The Devil (Zulawski)
The Seventh Continent (Haneke)
Mouchette (Bresson)

The Entertainment
Cargo 200
End of Evangelion
Johnny Got His Gun
Threads.
All about Lily chouchou
Take Shelter
Bug
Frailty (arguable)
All 3 are absolute schizokino, great movies
The Road.
The book is far superior. My girlfriend actually read the whole thing to me over the phone while I was out of town for a couple weeks.
Threads
this is pretty up there
enter the void
Dawn of Justice
Peppermint Candy
Mysterious Skin
Betty Blue
Ikari (Rage)
Ash Is Purest White
Mysterious Skin
I wish I never watched that. I went in completely blind. It was a good movie for what it was, but what it was... fuck
a.i. ,beasts of no nation, the road. all just bleak
The Plague Dogs.
They made it, dammit!
The movie starts and ends with drowning.
came here to post this. pure suffering from start to finish. something kino about watching a total collapse of society but i really don't want to experience it
Eden Lake fucked me up
Probably The Road. I don't watch a ton of horror or super depressing films.
Raise Ravens
Requiem for a Dream
nothing else comes close
Eden Lake is a good movie to watch if you want to walk around for the rest of the day feeling sick and very angry
Why are Slavs so good making grimkino?
five easy pieces was kind of comfy
Martyrs.
Love Liza is definitely one that is so bleak I was just wondering why the fuck you'd make a movie like that
i do not know what peter jackson was thinking adapting this like why would you want something like this on your filmography
The past 100 years haven't been overly kind to them. They just have to look out the window to get inspired
this movie is just constantly awful things happening to boss nigger and his friends
Probably The House that Jack Built.
It's not a bad film, but it's really just a depressing long slog.
Heavenly Creatures
King of the Ants
but it's really just a depressing long slog
I think it was mad fun. That whole bit where he's trying NOT to kill the bitch in his car is hilarious
Melancholia is depicting depression pretty good imo
Life During Wartime
Lylia 4 ever made me cry like a bitch
Not necessarily a movie but Playtest from Black Mirror
There's no tech warning or social commentary to be had, it's just a reminder of how quickly you can die without warning (and to make sure you're on good terms with your mother).
Can't believe no one's mentioned Biutiful
is that morrissey?
Unexpectedly everything turned out kind of shit for everyone involved
Both The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and Unforgiven are much more bleak westerns
Other movies may be sadder but this one hits close to home.
It's the story of a volcel who changes his mind too late.
The Proposition is also an extremely bleak western
Probably more bleak than those two, and it also has Nick Cave music like Jesse James has
Lilja 4-ever probably since there's zero beauty or hope in this movie.
Klimovs wife directed The Ascent which towers his work before she died in a tragic car crash but yeah nice list, Lopushansky is definitely overlooked
They're more openly bleak. True Grit crept up on you.
The proposition is bleak because literally nothing happens in it and you feel bad for wasting your time watching it
do NOT watch this movie under any circumstance
give me a rundown on this
True that one is grim nihilistic kino. The Australian equivalent to the American "wild west" period was even more fucked up in some ways
Yeah, luckily they have moved past that white aggression and have started to become a multicultural society where whites will soon be a minority.
Not what I was saying at all fucking retard
The movie is about what is inevitably going to happen, I'm sorry you got filtered.
It paints a grim picture of how rough Australia used to be
So you didn't watch the movie
all in this list
It paints a grim picture of how rough Australia used to be
This is my point regarding The Proposition (and for that matter Wake in Fright) just the sheer harshness of the environment of the Outback vs the American West where it was easier to live off the land so to speak
wake in fright and the proposition both suck
Rain in my heart

Also, "Life Itself". That Ebert film. Didn't cheer me up.
Pedo fucker got off way too easy
If he got off easy, he wouldn't have gone to those extremes, surely.
I’m Thinking of Ending Things
Didn't the pederast die?
How is that getting off easy?
Pedo fucker got off way too easy
Fucking Paedophiles shouldn't be a crime. Unless you're a child, of course. In which case you should be punished to the full extent of the law
The Chekist is anti communist kino
Is this a remake of Funny Games ?
Bleakest all around
Threads. The whole movie was bleak as fuck, with every moment just being depressing at best and utterly grim at worst.
Bleakest moment
Come and See. The village scene was brutal. Doubly so as these things have happened in that area
The Divide.
Loved the premise, but the ending, I don't know.
Why would she go through all that effort to get her fiance to take charge to immediately betray him the moment he does?
The movie was bleak as hell though
dear zachary
spoorloos
that film is small potatoes compared to actual drug addiction. it's very idealized
Original version 1997
but the soundtrack makes it
Considering the era this movie takes place in, this was actually a happy ending.
One of the best docs but not for couples
Trauma (2017) is utterly bleak, but not for you bros who never made love and fantasize daily about rape, yet at the same time those bitches cruelly deserved it. It's a strange medium. The director purposedly made it this way, so yeah it's bleak, one of the bleaker films within the last decade
Leviathan
Trauma (2017)
Spanish. Terrible reviews.
Nice try, niggerlover.
The Machinest
AI
Jacob's Ladder
These. Maybe Eastern Promises and a history of violence
A ton of these already losted but one I haven't seen itt yet is I Stand Alone
What the fuck was even the point
not tHE bLEakEsT I've evEr SeEn but it might linger in your brain for a good bit
I've posted this before. It's Leaving Las Vegas without Cage's explosive performance which brings entertainment and levity to something which is otherwise very boring and sad to watch, an alcoholic just wasting away in the most mundane ways possible.
It's not a harrowing watch, it's a guy who cant keep a job, just drinking and smoking himself into an early grave, wasting his life away.
Chekist is pretty damn bleak, but didnt ruin my day or anything.
but not for couples
For whom then?
This movie makes anyone feel extremely bummed out at the end
Cargo 200
youtu.be
Your home birth video.
Show the movie to your left-leaning friends to find out by their reactions whether they're misguided idealists ("I had no idea it was like that") or just hate-filled psychos ("those enemies of the people probably just got what they deserved!"). Most of the time it'll be the latter
For me, it's the bit where the vicar starts stamping like there's a rat in the room.
It's all off frame but you can hear it.
The songs were nice
Nobody Knows was pretty bleak.
Kids being abandoned and left to fend for themselves but they're children they don't know how to make proper decisions.
it's undoubtedly this one
Trauma (2017)
Spanish. Terrible reviews.
Nice try, niggerlover.
Good, you should stick to things normal to your POV, niggerlover
You should remain ignorant and continue racebaiting, speak about shit you know nothing about, remain comfortable and bark like a pug on the back porch when the adults are talking
That's your place, dog, sit wait for a treat
give me a rundown on this
Poorfag dad taking care of dying wife (iirc) and two (iirc) kids in Barcelon, Spain. Many misfortunes ensue. Ending just leaves you spent
Not the response I was looking for.
You haven't convinced me.
You convince yourself, that's on you, we both got dubs
I will now watch your movie.
This was the first one that came to mind for me upon seeing this thread.
One of a tiny handful of documentaries I actually enjoy, and relentlessly bleak, especially the ending.
Ex Drummer was gonna be my shout
Fascinating movie. Something in it tickles at a deep part of you but you're unsure of what it is, at least for me. The entire movie has this strange empty vagueness to it.
Nil By Mouth
Twilight (1990, Gyorgy Feher)
based as fuck
Does this count?
Yeah, that one hurt. Those few but long seconds when you realize, right before they say it...
Aftersun needs to be on here.
Elysium was horrible. The entire planet was one gigantic hebrew Wiemar republic Mexico city brown hell.
The entire planet.
Not 6 million.
6 billion.
And the Jew fled to a space station after destroying the planet, so the aryan hero matt damon kills the jews but there is no hope for a future. The billions of hordes and swarms of brownoids immediately use up all the medical beds and no one can get healed.
But we Sampson optioned the jew space station so we all suffer in hell equally together.
Title is "The End of LazyTown" and will release sometime in 2025.
The movie begun development the instant that the show's original creator Magnus Scheving brought the rights back from Warner Bros Discovery earlier this year.
Unverified reports have surfaced describing this film as "One of the darkest takes that has ever been done for any franchise in existence"
The show's original website: "www.lazytown.com" has been reinstalled, showing a empty domain register page ever since the movie's announcement.
Apparently aiming for a "R" / "NC-17" rating.
The movie will be directed by the show's creator Magnus Scheving.
Magnus Scheving will reprise his role as Sportacus.
Julianna Rose Mauriello will reprise her role as Stephanie.
To be premiered in Festival de Cannes in 2025.
If the other unconfirmed leaks that surfaced a few months ago are also true, it's going to be one wild ride. Didn't the actress that played the uglier Stephanie say that this movie took inspiration from THE END OF FUCKING EVANGEILION out of all things? I couldn't even reverse image search the destroyed Sportacus logo to see if it had been edited, this could actually be legit ffs.
hebrew Wiemar republic
le buzzword
Had to stop watching it a third or so in. Legitimately too sad for me.
